Tech Support / Need suggestion on a gpu
December 20, 2009, 01:21:59 PM
So, I will probably be getting a gpu for Christmas and I want to chhose a good one. My current gpu is an EVGA nvidia 8800 gt. I want to stick with evga- looking for something around $100 to $125. I want something good for gaming and with a dvi output. My screen resolution is 1650by 900 I think (I will be home tonight to re-affirm that). Anyways..... Any suggestions would be great. Also- if someone finds a good ati radeon for the same price range.

Many thanks

From the trailers i've seen it looks better then 1.  I like the battlefield series as a whole so i want to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Building the PC is the easy part, designing it was the hard part- sorry to hear about that, make along the road soon you'll get a chance to upgrade your video card...

Obviously i'm not speaking for jk.  But it is a bit power-thirsty, but when gaming this isn't an issue cause your gonna be plugged in anyways, am i right?

I totall agree with jk: RPGs are radically better on mac/pc... The one exception is assassins creed

@ reds 250 gb HD drive: what's the point?  Unless I wasn't Paying enough attention and there are many other perks.

I think the tradeoff between the gpu/CPU would be better w/ the Better gpu, but that could be just me

I somewhat agree with red.  If it was a mac- the quad core does a lot b/c they greatly optomize the spreading out of work across all cores.  In my experience, its much less so on the pc.  Go w/ the dual cores cause they're generally cheaper and like red said, for gaming you don't need 4 cores.

Well i think i can say firstoff, that pretty much everyone is sick of WWII games.  And i think in the end- do you really think the guys who made the horrible moh games are still employed there? well if they are, then there is a better than decent chance that this game sucks.  But the idea of a new game is to be different (yeah i know, CODMW2).  I think, until we get more information we should just wait and see what happens.

I've never been a big medal of honor fan, especially since there next-gen console releases... but this looks promising.  Maybe this is just me, but some parts of it seem nigh-identical to cod4.

Good laptops are such a black bag.  It really depends on what you want. Is gaming your only requirement? Also how are you with delicates?

Note: this isn't perfect, but just taking a quick skim: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114785
