Other Games / Contractors VR has SWBF maps!
November 22, 2022, 12:18:33 PM
Hey all, it's been a while :D

I just wanted to mention (in case nobody has heard), that Contractors VR, a VR shooter, now has a GameMode mod called "Clone Wars Mod". The mod, made by noeneubanks, allows players to use classes and adjust loadouts based on those from SWBF2017, but the real kicker is that the maps available are all from SWBF1 and 2! There's even Giftheck's Invisible Hand mod map on there as well!

Currently (as the name implies) it only has Clone Wars sides, but the creator plans to make/add a GCW mod sometime soon.

Anyways, just figured I'd post about it here, and here's a vid from a YouTuber I watch about the whole mod:

Hope to potentially see you guys on there!  :cheer:

Hey, it's me again, long time no see! :D

Anyways, for those unaware, you might recall there was a group of guys years back that wanted to create a F2P, SWBF2-style shooter while EA had some issues with their EA SWBF titles back then. As you might also recall, the game effectively got slammed by Disney, and the developers ended up giving up on the Star Wars aspect of it.

Suffice to say, it's taken them several years, but they have finally pushed their vision of a modern, sci-fi, SWBF2-style shooter into Early Access!

Granted, the game looks much different from Star Wars (with a lot of sci-fi lore that needs to be explained) and is quite buggy (it's a tech demo effectively at the moment), but gameplay-wise it plays very closely to how SWBF2's gameplay feels. It definitely needs lots of polish, but they are looking for feedback, and for what they have at the moment it is at least playable to an extent, even if there are some sound bugs and some server latency in some areas. Plus, it's FREE!

Anyways, I'll drop a Steam link here in case anyone wants to check it out!

General / We got many car lovers here?
August 03, 2017, 07:01:17 AM
Hi guys,

Just felt like posting this since I myself bought a car recently. Still working on getting her fully road-legal, and since I now enter the realm of car ownership, wouldn't mind connecting with some of yas who have cars/are knowledgeable about cars. Perhaps we can at a later point rename this "The Car Thread" and talk about cars in general? Just a thought. :P

Will also post photos of my new ride if requested. ;)

Other Games / We got any PS4 players around here?
February 27, 2017, 04:37:39 AM
Hey guys, long time no talk. :P

Got myself a PS4 in October, and I've amassed quite a few racing games. Though I do have EASWBF as well, just no DLC because I spend my money on DLC for Assetto Corsa and Driveclub. :P

So, anyone else use PS4? And for racing as well possibly? (Got me G29 wheel setup. :D)

Public Square / Should this be happening?
August 31, 2016, 05:56:38 PM
Hello, everyone,

So, just hopped on SWBFGamers to go through the threads, and realized that I've a weird website glitch. Pretty sure the old user icons shouldn't be lining the menu bar.

Device: iPhone 5C with iOS 9.

Hey guys,

So, as I said in another post I recently went on a downloading spree to find my old mods I used to have. There's one mod that I remember someone gave to me. He went by the name Stereo I believe, he was an Alpha Clan member for a bit though I've seen him on the forum before as some other name that I can't remember. I remember it because since he was a fellow Canadian, he went ahead and made a skin mod that had a kind of "Canadian-esque" look to the Republic troopers. The only other thing I can remember about the guy was he was heavy into metal music.

If you guys happen to know who I'm talking about, could you possibly direct me to his current profile on here so I may message him? Alternatively, if you even have the skin mod (which I doubt anyone else here does), could you upload it?

For visual reference, this was the skin I'm referring to (pics uploaded below). I even had them on during my first (and only) battle for ICW3:

EDIT: I remember now, he last went by the name of Bread.

Tech Support / Free Voice Chat Options?
September 02, 2015, 08:05:39 AM
Hey guys,

So, for those unaware, my friends and I actively use Skype to voice chat while in-game. Unfortunately, this put a major hole in my family's bandwidth for the month. We attempted using Steam shortly after, however the voice quality just got to be so bad at certian points. At least with Skype I could make out what my friends were saying half the time, but with Steam it's really bad quality.

So, I ask of thee, are there any good voicing alternatives to Skype or Steam? We are preferably looking for something we don't have to pay for (hence the title). I tried looking online, but I can't quite decide what programs would work best for us. It would be much appreciated if you guys could offer some suggestions/opinions our way. :)

Tech Support / Ideal PC Builds for The New SWBF?
June 21, 2015, 03:04:13 PM
Hey guys, figured I'd put up this thread for the new SWBF. Obviously, there are many of us who either have a rig that will be able to run the new game, but there are also quite a few of us who probably don't have a rig that could run the new SWBF on par, so to speak.

So, I more accurately put this up as a question, does anyone know of any good, cheap PC builds that could potentially run the new SWBF? I've been relying off of Battlefield 4's PC specs (even though I probably should've been relying on Battlefield Hardline's specs really), and found a PC for $700 that runs BF4 on High settings, with Hardline on Medium-High settings.

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_1203_1446_1448&item_id=077425

(For reference, I've been using GameDebate for comparing system requirements between other PCs)

Also, feel free to post other recommendations here for PC builds that could run the new SWBF. :D

Tech Support / Connection Issues
January 07, 2015, 04:36:18 AM
Hey guys, it seems I never cease to have computer trouble, eh?

Well, over the past few days (and even now) the internet connectivity in my laptop has been quite wonky. I can seem to only access some websites (by some I mean they load slower than normal, but they load). Then there's other sites I can't seem to access, such as SpeedTest, Norton, history links, etc.

I opened task manager and it has my send and receive signals ranging from 0-40kbps for sending, and 0-100kbps for receiving. Last month I was downloading games at 1.5mbps.

I don't know what the problem is, but it seems I'm the only one experiencing it. Everything else in the house loads up websites and the like just fine. So it seems the problem is centered on my laptop only. I've been trying to reinstall Norton (it expired a few days ago, and I finally built up the courage to register the key), except this time this Norton needs to be downloaded rather than inserted with a CD.

I checked all my installed programs, and there's nothing out of place there.

I've checked and done just about anything you can do to try and resolve a slow connection issue. Anyone got any suggestions/solutions?

Other Games / Giving Away some Steam Coupons!
January 05, 2015, 01:25:50 PM
Hey guys,

So recently I decided to craft some badges and get some rewards out of them. Unfortunately, none of the coupons the games are for appeal to me. So, I am offering to trade my coupons for whatever (doesn't even need to be anything in return).

Here are the coupons I have:
If you want them, it's first-come-first-serve, so make sure to respond ASAP. I'm putting up the same thread on another forum, so if you want them you'd best contact me as soon as possible.

NOTE: These coupons expire January 11th and 12th, get 'em while ya can!

General / Thoughts on Star Wars: Rebels?
October 13, 2014, 08:15:51 PM
Hey guys, so tonight, at this somewhat late-hour, I have decided to pop the question:

What do you guys think of Star Wars: Rebels so far?

The series has already had 3 episodes (with the 4th airing tomorrow, I believe), and I believe it's about to time to start seeing what people's initial reactions are to the Ralph McQuarrie-inspired series. Personally, I kind of like it. It's a unique twist on the Imperial era (granted that's because Disney's killed off everything but the films and recent shows), but it has a beat on its own. The allusions to the previous Clone Wars series are somewhat minuscule (for the time being), but noticeable regardless.

The opening episode(s) have been unique for sure. Definitely a much different way to start off the series than what The Clone Wars had (a simple title, quote, debrief, and episode), whereas this show has more of a "preview-2-minutes-of-episode, show title, and continue", sort of opening. It doesn't really get you up to speed, and leaves the viewer wondering what will happen next.

I know I'm counting all my eggs before they hatch here, but I'd just like to hear people's initial responses to the first 3 episode so far.

Hey guys,

So my new laptop has Windows 8.1, and unfortunately I cannot seem to install SWBF on it. I installed SWBFII with no problems, but whenever I go to run the exe from the disc, the install screen doesn't show up.

I know someone on here had a similar problem I think, though the search feature doesn't let me search "Windows 8", and I don't want to hunt through hundreds of threads to find it.

Anyone care to help me out? Or does this mean Windows 8.1 won't run SWBF for me? :(

Tech Support / Is this a good laptop?
August 18, 2014, 07:10:38 PM
Hey guys, I seem to make a habit of posting on here quite frequently, don't I?

Anyways, one of the courses I intend to take this year (Communications Technology, it's a new course), requires I have a laptop for the course. I would use Sir Heats-a-lot (the old junker I keep complaining about), however it needs a cooling pad and power cord at all times to remain powered on. It even takes around 7 minutes for it to boot up and be ready to run.

So, I've been looking to find a replacement laptop (or rather, one to get me by until I can get something better) for this. I've also considered this as a way to get a half-decent gaming laptop, one with a good GPU and whatnot. The pinch is it needs to be under $500.

I am thinking about this one though, tell me what you guys think:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F7TQ3Z0/?ie=UTF8&tag=daarna-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325#productDetails

Specs:
CPU: AMD Elite Quad-Core A8-5550M Accelerated Processor
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 8550G with 2158MB graphics memory, 4MB L2 Cache
RAM: 4GB DDR3
Hard Drive: 750GB
OS: Windows 8 64-bit
Other: 2 USB 3.0 ports, HDMI port, 17-inch display (1600x900 resolution)

Don't worry, I have not put to rest my plans to salvage my desktop (I'm still hunting for a monitor for it and whatnot), and intend to slowly upgrade it over the course of the school year, as I intend to get a part-time job this year. But for now, I am trying to get the most out of this opportunity as I can. If you have anything better for a pricepoint below $500, please recommend!

Tech Support / Coding Help!
June 01, 2014, 06:00:27 PM
Hey guys, I've got a problem, this time it's not computer-related, but programming-related.

Anyways, I have to have a project handed pretty soon (by soon I mean tomorrow), and I've run into a problem. I'm trying to use the following code:

Code (c#) Select

//capeBox1 is a drop-down selection box.
if (capeBox1.Text == "Bloody Demon Cape")
                accessoryBox1.Image = Properties.Resources.bdc;
//bdc is an image file I'm trying to have show up in accessoryBox1 (which is a PictureBox).

I know it should work, but it keeps popping up with the following error:

Quote
'System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox' does not contain a definition for 'image' and no extension method 'image' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Windows.Forms.PictureBox' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I also need a response fast!

Tech Support / Refurbishing an Old PC
May 09, 2014, 07:11:10 AM
Hey guys, I'm back at it again in the tech field!

So recently, as part of my IT course, I need to refurbish an old PC. I've done minor repairs to the stuff the schools has, but I'm tackling a big one right now. I'm taking my parent's 8-year old Media Center machine and am planning to upgrade it so I could use it as my person machine (hopefully to replace my piece-of-crap laptop!)

Anyways, this is the old junker I'm repairing:

[spoiler]

Name: Hp Pavilion Media Center a1477c Desktop PC
Processor: Athlon 64 X2 (T) 4400+ 2.2 GHz
Chipset: ATI Radeon Xpress 200
Motherboard: MSI MS-7184 AmethystM-GL6E
RAM: 1GB (2x 512MB DDR SDRAM)
Hard Drive: 250 GB SATA
Graphics Card: Integrated
Additional: TV Tuner with FM Tuner
[/spoiler]

As you can see, this thing was quite a powerhouse back in the day, but that day was long ago. I want to run Windows 7 on it, but it requires 4GB of RAM. I've luckily found where I can get 4 1GB sticks of old DDR SDRAM, however my main concern is the processor. Having looked up specs for Battlefield 4 recently, they require processors with around 2.4 GHz, whereas mine produces almost that. On top of this, the power supply (which has been replaced before) needs to have old connectors (otherwise I'm looking at buying a ton of adapters).

To summarize what I just said, I need help finding a good power supply that would have an old PCI connector (since everything these days uses the PCI-e conncector). All of today's power supply units have what I need for everything else, but I need to find one with an old PCI connector. On top of that, I also need to find a much more powerful processor, and one compatible with the old chipset that I mentioned above.

Could you guys help me out? Again?

General / Heartbleed Bug
April 14, 2014, 06:06:06 AM
Not sure if anyone has heard, but there's a new bug in the interwebs called Heartbleed. I don't know if HostGator has upgraded their OpenSSL yet, but if not, then gentlemen, we all need to change our passwords.

Alternatively, if your ISP has not upgraded their server, you are in major trouble, as many hackers now have the access to hack your personal info from websites. In other words, change your passwords IMMEDIATELY.

You may also want to check if your device has OpenSSL installed. If it does, you may already have the bug. If it doesn't then you're most likely safe.

Here's the website for the bug if you wish to know more about it: http://heartbleed.com/

Other Games / Star Wars: Tiny Death Star
March 30, 2014, 06:04:49 PM
Dunno if anyone else with an iOS/Android/Windows device has been drawn into this yet, but here it is:

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/star-wars-tiny-death-star/id663576850?mt=8

The game itself is made by the guys who made Tiny Tower (another popular game on mobile devices), and has collaboration with Disney Interactive. I myself have become drawn to this game, as it is pretty fun to just run the Death Star as a retail mall. :P However, the "freemium" part of it is the lack of premium currency given. More or less, if you're not willing to milk out money for the "Imperial Bux" (or jailbreak/root your device to install an in-app purchase crack), the game requires loads of patience, as there's wait times for stuff to be built and whatnot.

Anyways, figured I'd toss this out there, see what you guys think. :P

EDIT: For anyone wondering, yes, this game caused me to not attend Phantom's Mod Map Server today. :wall:

Hey guys, I've ran into another problem on my hot mess of a laptop.

A few weeks back, I could plug in my USB device into my laptop, it would be recognized, etc. Now, I just tried plugging in my flash drive, and when it's in, the computer doesn't show it at all! It's like it doesn't even exist in the port! I've done some hunting, but all the answers they're giving are just too much techno-babble for my taste. (ex. make a notepad doc and name it reg.fix)

Perhaps you guys could help me out? I know it's not the key, I tried another key I have, and the laptop won't recognize the key as well! I even tried all the ports on this thing, no response.

Help me, SWBFGamers, you're my only hope!  :nervous:

Released Maps and Mods / GoldMan's Target Troopers (CW)
February 17, 2014, 04:41:41 PM
GoldMan's Target Troopers (CW)

http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1113

These are my first skins that I've made! All sides have targets on their heads (except for the Droideka), and blacked out bodies, to make it easier to snipe/kill them. In short, these will greatly improve your accuracy with any weapon, or just become a useful cheat for those who suck (like me :P).

Credit goes to Pandemic for the models, Shazam for testing, and Gold Man for making the skins.

SWBF1 Modding / [WIP] Target Trooper Skins Mod
February 15, 2014, 01:51:56 PM
Hey guys, I know what you're thinking: "GM CAN MOD!??!" :P

Well, I actually learned how to do sides today (with help from Shazam and Phantom), and I am working on something I've thought of doing for quite some time. The basis for this was that I always suck when I play online, so I decided to black out all the stock skins, and apply targets on their faces! Why? So I'm not incredibly bad on servers. :P

To show I'm not kidding, screenshots for the Republic are attached below.

Also, I do need a bit of help with the CIS skins. For the droids I'm having the hardest time possible to try and find where the "heads" are on the TGAs. I've been doing tons of guesswork, but still not even close. Perhaps you guys could help me out? Thanks in advance!
