Maybe, just maybe, we will be able to use NFO for hosting the new SWBF ;)
Please visit this page and post your server pings to find the best place to host if we are able :)

I followed your link and this is what it gave me. I live in Illinois, but it appears Dallas has a lower ping for me. As it is I can't currently play Battlefront online with our internet connection, as we have satellite internet. (Terrible Ping)
So don't make your (or any) decision based on my post, but maybe this information will be of some use to you.

I am not sure if my results count since I am a European resident and most of these servers are located in USA.

It is good to get info from European players. I hope to find out about our Australian players too. Maybe Chicago is the best place still, or maybe New York/ LA

I always thought Atlanta was best for Europe when we checked before but New York seems best for me. Isn't one of those more expensive from NFO?
I remain optimistic but I suspect it will be a choice between euro or US servers straight from EA at $50 a month...
If all is well I'll try and help out with the servers whatever happens. I think we should call the PLA one cloud City regardless of maps. ;)
I think there is a major transatlantic cable that goes to NY.
heh, yes, {PLA} SWBF Reboot Cloud City
Apparently my ping is being blocked by my own firewall. Any ideas to get around this on Norton Security 2015?

New York / London are the best locations for a balance of US and Euro players. I hope NFO adds servers for London this year. There are not as many pacific players on SWBF as I thought. If there were more active players from that region I'd recommend a San Jose server. According to analysis of site visitors on SWBFGamers, the player base here is estimated to be about
North America 60%
Europe 25%
Asia/Russia 6%
Latin America 5%
Pacific 4%

Looking over the original domestic USA fibermaps as well as more recent maps, shows that San Jose is equally important to LA and actually the two cities seem to serve together as HUBs for West Coast USA.
The original Mae-West peering hub was present in both LA as well as San Jose.
At this moment, you can get more private peerings in San Jose, but more public peers in LA (ANY2).
Looking purely at statistics like latency / traceroutes and other results - you will find that San Jose is a better choice if your target market is China, Singapore or Hongkong while LA is the better choice for Australia and Japan.
The difference however is tiny and hardly anything of note.
From a network perspective, these locations are fairly equal.
From a cost perspective, i must give the San Jose region the benefit of doubt, specifically the Santa Clara based datacenters as power in Santa Clara is cheaper then anywhere else in California, the datacenters are generally newer then most other datacenters (with some exceptions, like 900 Alameda, LA).
LA has one primary peering datacenter (One Wilshire) while San Jose has two (55 South Market and 11 Great Oaks).
Based on an objective look on all the Pro's and Con's, i believe that San Jose is the the best and most cost effective location on the USA West Coast and the best location to serve the Asian market.
But the difference between the two regions is really tiny, if you do not need a lot of power then LA might end up being the better choice for your specific build out. It is really very hard to say objectively say, what location between the two would be the best, without knowing all the ins and outs on what is important to your business.
