If you get the SWBF2 server to work with wine, let us know how.  No one that I know of has gotten it to work yet.
Will do!

^ this man knows what he's talking about.

Also, install location depends on where you stored your steam lib, of which is usually nested in Steam itself. (In my case though, I have mine on a different drive partition)

Basically it's "<steam library folder location>/steamapps/common/Star Wars Battlefront II"

Alright, noted about the updates, I did at first assume DirectX redist updates, as it's apparently happened before.

As for aussie servers, I guess I install WINE onto my server and configure it... then load SWBFII on.

Any minimum RAM requirements for a SWBFII server? I'd assume that it wouldn't need much, given the age of the game.

Hey all, been a while since I played BFII and thought of giving SWBFSpy a go again.

Is there any known Australian servers working? Main reason I ask is that my horrid upload speed means US servers have upwards of 200 ping where I am. (same goes for Team Fortress 2, good thing Valve put servers in Sydney)

And last I checked, ONLY the US had any servers...

If not, I do have a VPS I could start one on if there's enough aussies interested.

Oh, and my second question; has anyone noticed any significant change from the new update that came through on Steam? (for those using the Steam version)

Sure do. :)
I should probably insert my steam profile somewhere here.
Steam name is the same as my forum name here.

Now the challenge is catching a good time when everyone's on SWBFSpy.
Half the time, I go in there and it's empty... That's the only reason I use GR at all.

EDIT: Oh wait, it's right there under my profile pic. Silly me. :D

@Jean Hey, are you still doing this?
I really have been wanting to use SWBFSpy, but I'm always on at a time when the UK's asleep... (I'm in Australia)
If you are, I'll see if I can join a session when you're doing one. :)

Bumping this to ask when should an Aussie get on to find players on SWBFSpy?
Hoping there's more of me. :)

Got a good one today during an instant action playlist:

VICTORY... after wiping out on an auto-turret in a stolen TIE Interceptor. XD

@Jean sort of...
The New ones on Wii U and 3DS definitely do. Brawl though? Sort of... It works, but matchmaking's broken in PAL regions.

On modding, looks like I'll be downloading a mod pack, lol

Well that would explain why every server came up empty for me today... I'm guessing the PC SWBF2 isn't operational yet?

When I have my next bout of LAN games with a buddy, I'll see if I can get some shots. :)

@Jean How the... :O

Hey, this looks good!
I'm happy to do some testing of my own if you like.
Does this work by exploiting the localhost IP? Or does it use multiple BFII instances?

Hey all! Just came here following a link on Google to get in on the new Game servers. ;)

I primarily play on Nintendo platforms (N64, GC, Wii, DS, 3DS) but I do play on PC when I find something decent to play. (Powered by Sandy Bridge and running Windows 10 and Ubuntu 15.10)

Usually playing either Super Smash Bros. or F-ZERO when on a Nintendo console, Battlefront II or some random Sonic title on PC. (I don't generally play shooters though)

I also develop games, atm as a hobby.

Of course, nothing would be possible without my vintage internet, lol (1.5mbps down, 0.4mbps up, 50ms ping)
See you guys on future mash-ups on SWBFspy. :)

As for questions, would one with an unmodded BFII be able to play against someone with the conversion mod? I'd imagine no, unless someone says otherwise... XD
