I think that you will find that many mac players had accounts here at one time.  This website grew out of the mac SWBF forums.

But where have they gone? My goal is to make playing SWBF on GR fun. With more than 2-3 people...

There were never all that many.  Big games were 8-16 players.  Then they upgraded their OS, and what was left dropped out.  Also, around this time, Steam became available for Mac users.  Newer games, more options.

The same thing is happening to PC players, except we started with a much larger pool of players.  When I started playing onlline, which was three or four years or so after the release, there were still 500 players per night.  Now, it is 30-50.

Alright, i re-installed gameranger...but i promise this is only for chat only.
I got one major computer with all my games on it...around 100 gb together. But the thing inside the computer for internet is broken.
So bye bye online gaming.
Also in gameranger my name is Darth Verik

Don't worry, I have a plan. All I wan is a multiplayer game with 8-10 people. If Gameranger works without lag when I host the game and my little brother can join that will add 1 more person. Also Pancho Sans was totally for it, and I saw Hopko! a couple days ago. Plus Regent, that would make 4. Sounds pathetic but if I can get more people it won't be. And if khy can find a SWBF disk...
I would like a little support on this subject from the pc side though... :P

EDIT: our solution?

Well can't khy do the whole no-disc thing? I know loads of guys who play online without a disc

How do you play online without a disk?!

How do you play online without a disk?!
2 ways, mount the disc image using MagicISO or something similar, and the other way is no cd cracks which are not allowed to be discussed here according to buckler

edit:
oh sorry thats for windows. not sure about macs :(

Hey Banthafodder, try this to see if GR works:
delete your GR app completely, go to finder, user, library, prefrences, gamerangerprefs
now delete that folder. Now re-download and re-install. See if it works.
As I understood it you couldn't play SWBF mac online without a disk.

I've tried it, but without succes.
This is by the way the window that opens when I try to load gameranger:

But the previous times when this problem occured, I just had to wait until the next update.
Then it worked again for about three weeks, so I will tell you when it works.
I will then be able to help to keep the online swbf1 mac community alive  :P .

Count me in occasionally. What time are you looking at doing this? I'm in Grad School now, but I can try to set aside a little bit of time from writing papers and hitting the bars.

As far as people who have issues with the new OS, if you create a small partition (20 GB) in Disk Utility, you can install 10.6 there, and you are still able to run Battlefront that way. That's what I've done and it works great. The only problem is having to reboot and boot from that second partition.

I'll be glad to join a GR game. I'll keep a lookout for a game on Saturday night, and other times. It keeps getting harder to find people to play with on GR. Pancho and Hopko had a Wednesday night thing going fore a while, try Wednesdays too. Hope to see peeps.
