I have managed to put a dedicated server called "Mods@SWBFGamers.com" on Steam.  Feel free to play on it if you have the Steam version, put our name out there.

I will freely warn you, it is not as stable as SWBFSpy, and does not work with the disk versions.  SWBFSpy will stay up for the time being to support those versions.

Indeed, SWBFspy won't go away, but we will host servers on the steaming pile of 1.3 beta  ;)

Don't believe everything you read on the internet

The server worked well when I played earlier with a couple of others. Unfortunately after 2 matches I was booted and that started a 10minute cycle of crashing and freezing. It's lucky I like this game...

I also found out you can't play on Steam and GOG at the same time, it just puts you straight into the one that's running.

I play less now but I'll always be around, lets keep this site and battlefront going. :)

Amazing.
The server has been a steaming pile of crap.  And it's all this patch - there's nothing else I know how to do.  At least it reboots when it crashes.

If I'm thinking on this right - It's a server for BF 2004 right?

Honestly, trying to make MP work on a game and using modern server technology... Idk how well that would mix.
The years just fly past, don't they?

They have the source code and released a patch designed to deal with Multiplayer. They had everything they needed, it's not about whether its modern or not. It's about poor quality control and a money grab on May 4th.

You know, you're actually right about that. It's sad that they've put in such low effort for the servers. Hopefully they improve them sometime..

:o Oh Sweet God they added full controller support!!!!!! For years I struggled with xpadder and my xbox360/xbox one controllers and now I dont have to mess that bantha poodoo anymore. I for one see this as a plus ;D I hope they do complete controller support for BF2 classic eventually. SWBFspy is still better than the trash online right now though.
Battfront Stuff if your interested.

I've never had a problem using controllers on BF2. I've used many controllers without a problem - Xbox 360, Dualshock 3, Dualshock 4, generic bluetooth controllers, PS2 controller with adapter.
Never let a person named AnthonyBF2 touch your BF2.

we should be the ones to have the source code we can fix it better.
mods and maps in progress:<br />--Bf1 expanded edition 3.0 version
-- bf1 tcw battles
-- bf1 seasons mod season 1
-- bf2 expanded edition tbh

Hey guys thanks so much for the server! It's been awesome to play with so man people again. Have you guys considered adding a server without bots? We have been making our own no bot servers but it would be really nice to have a dedicated server. Thanks for all the work you guys do!

I host the BOBclan server and the one SWBFgamers server at the moment. I'm afraid to throw up a third one on the same machine but could try

I'm working on getting GoG and see if we can set up a couple more servers.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet

Hi Dark_Phantom,

I tried creating my own server via the command line switches as you instructed me via Steam community forum post. I opted to create a batch file and add my entries there. But for some weird reason it doesn't display my server in the server list.

I decided to purchase a second copy of the game on a new account (just for server hosting purposes since it so cheap at the moment). Installed the game on my laptop and hosted a dedicated server via the in game options, and that worked.

So, I'm a bit baffled as to why the batch file method doesn't display my server in the browser, but using the in game option does.

Any thoughts?

Interesting.  So I bought the game on a second account as well so that I could play and host at the same time.  Are you logged into Steam when you do this?  I am running it off my VPS, with the batch file in the same folder as Battlefront.exe, and Steam is running and logged in to the account I bought it on.  I tried doing it multiple ways in offline mode and trying to run it on both machines, and it just didn't work.

If that doesn't help, I can take some screenshots and give insight to my setup.
