I don't have a Reddit account, but someone should mention the event on SWBFSpy on November 1st.

What do I change them to?

We just had a good 10 player game going on SWBFSpy, and it happened again. My game stopped responding, and I had to restart my PC. After restarting, I was unable to join the game, so I restarted the server. I'm not sure if everyone's game crashed though. Does this sound about right?

This happens at least once daily on my server. I've heard that it doesn't happen nearly as often on other servers. Could it be something specific to my server?

Here's what I'm working with:
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Anyder's 40tps SM
- "No Crash" patched EXE
- Fast Spawn hex edit (6EA55)

Yes, I'm using your 40tps SM.

My friend, Smith, said that he is used to this. Have you heard of this bug, Anyder?

Lol Jean, thank you!  :P

Sometimes, at the end of a game, the "Done" button doesn't seem to load. When this happens, I usually exit the game and try to join about a minute later. This usually works. Although, I'm not sure if the server restarts itself or the "Done" button just takes forever to load those times. And it seems to happen on both GameRanger and SWBFSpy.

The times it takes for whatever fixes it (restart or button eventually loads?) varies. When players have to wait for 2+ minutes, they usually begin to leave, and it really kills the experience. So is this a known bug? And is there anything I can do to stop it?

Okay, here's me going on about ping again, but hear me out.

Lately, I've been having slight ping spikes on my SWBF2 SWBFSpy server that we use to scrimmage on, and in an attempt to ensure that's it's just my ISP and not that particular NFO server, I set up a test server with a different VDS. I'm quite confident that it's just my ISP, so ignore the ping spikes.

Anyway, the crazy part is that my ping on the test server is about 10-15ms lower than the other server! The even crazier part is that both VDSs are from NFO, are located in Chicago, have the same specs (2 cores, 2 GB), and are both using Anyder's 40tps server manager. I tried doing a TraceRT to both servers and got identical pings! Nothing, that I know of, is different about these VDSs or the game server settings, yet the in-game pings are drastically different!

Even when I got my first VDS from NFO back in the summer, I've always gotten pings ranging from 93-100ms. On the test server, I get 79-88ms!

Also, it takes 1 second to join my normal server while it takes 0 seconds to join my lower-ping test server.

Please help. I'd like to know what could be causing my test server to have 10-15ms lower ping (which is a lot!) when the servers are exactly the same, as far as I know.

The only difference is the OS. My normal server is running Windows 2008 R2 while my lower-ping test server is running Windows 2012 R2. But I've ran Windows 2012 R2 on other VDSs and the ping remains normal (93-100ms).

EDIT: I don't know if this makes a difference, but the lower-ping server was originally set up on GameRanger where in-game pings are about 10-15ms lower than SWBFSpy. I'm getting about the same ping on the test server that I usually get on a Chicago GameRanger server. I don't know how that would affect the server's ping calculation. Just a thought.

The goal is to get people off of GameRanger and onto SWBFSpy. Because SWBFSpy is relatively new compared to GameRanger and Tunngle, which were first to market multiplayer functionality after the master server shut down, it's significantly more difficult to get players to join. A lot, but not all, of the Euro players have moved to SWBFSpy, so the next challenge is to get some Americans to move as well.

To Led or Anyder: A good way to achieve this is to move the player base in a more forceful manner. Maybe you guys should collaberate with the large GameRanger servers (Unity, Swag, and me) to remove their servers entirely from GameRanger and onto SWBFSpy. Swag is an American server, and I'd prefer to be the only American server on SWBFSpy, but we need to do what's best for the community. Anyway, this will force the players to move to SWBFSpy. The only problem I see with this is other GameRanger servers emerging to satisfy the demand. On the other hand, not many people are willing to pay $30+ a month for a VDS. So, I don't know. Tell me what you guys think.

To provide a neat solution to the GameRanger/SWBFSpy comparability issue, reinstall the game or download the default EXE. Make sure it's named "BattlefrontII.exe." Then install the SWBFSpy patched EXE and leave it named "BattlefrontII - SWBFSpy." Then create a shortcut for it on your desktop. Now, if you would like to play GameRanger, simply do what you normally do, and if you would like to play SWBFSpy, open the SWBFSpy shortcut on your desktop.

Just to forewarn, I believe that everything in the entire game is wrong. Also, I'll probably repeat a bunch of points that others have already said.
1. Fun should trump canon. Just because there aren't laser shotguns in canon doesn't mean it can't be in the game.
2. Make the game less casual. Some argue that SWBF2 was also casual, but I think we can all agree here that it's definitely not.
3. There needs to be an actual class system, not a custom one. It's easier to balance, and it gives players roles on the battlefront.
4. Similar to the fun trumps canon, just because a battle didn't necessarily take place there, that doesn't mean it can't be a map. Mos Eisley and Mustafar anyone? They seem to sort of understand this now after seeing the DLCs.
5. Remove all the gimmicky gamemodes, and just give us conquest and team death match.
6. Give us Clone Wars.
7. Stop trying to remove all attatchment from the old games. Just call it Instant Action. Why call it Skirmish? And place the camera over the head like in the old games, not over the sholder. It really annoys me for some reason.
8. Design the map around fun-ness, not movie accuracy.
9. Space to ground battles. After seeing, alpha footage of Free Radical's SWBF3, it's definitely possible and can be done well.
10. Similar again to fun trumps canon, give us rebel tanks. Imperials having AT-STs on Bespin and Rebels having nothing is unacceptable.
11. Give us better flying controls. The BF4 flying controls are great. Don't fix something that ain't broken.
12. Value gameplay over the player's "Star Wars battle fantasy." Ugh. Once the and wow wears off, theres really nothing left.
13. Focus more on content than graphics. Graphics are another one of the "wows" that wears off very quickly. I'd rather have more maps at launch that picture perfect graphics.

I could probably go on, but I'd be beating a dead horse. And it's ok if you actually like the game, but the drastically diminished player base (at least on PC) proves that most don't.

Where do I install the mods in the dedicated server folder? Also, no other patches need to be installed to make the mods work with the dedicated server?
#11
I know it's possible. I just don't know how to do it. Can someone reply with a tutorial about how to create a modded SWBF2 dedicated server? I'm surprised that this information isn't already out there somewhere. I want to make a BFX dedicated server for me and some friends to play on. Thanks!

I have the season pass, and I will not be playing the Death Star DLC. I just don't like the game in general. It should've been SWBF2+, but instead it's........... something different.

Requests / REQUEST: SWBF2 16:9 HUD Fix
September 09, 2016, 07:27:37 PM
I am requesting a mod that achieves the following:

  • Fixes the grossly inaccurate reticle position at 16:9 resolutions. If you've played SWBF2 at 1080p, you know what I'm talking about. The lasers land about 1/2 inch/13 mm (on my screen, anyway) above the center of the reticle. This is by far the most annoying part of playing in widescreen, and if anyone is to actually make this mod, please fix this if not anything else.
  • Fixes the Weapons/Health/Stamina section as well as the Chat. This is very nitpicky and doesn't really bother me that much, but if you have the time and desire, go ahead and make Weapons/Health/Stamina section look less smushed and put it in its proper location (lower), and make the Chat less tiny and put it in its proper location (higher).

Thank you to anyone who considers making this mod!!! If it is made, there will finally be proper widescreen support for SWBF2!

I will try.  :P As you know, I'm very new to this. If I find out anything else, I will report back. My hex editor makes backups of the files, so I don't need to worry about corruption.  ;)

CORRECTION: Changing all instances of com_item_flag to something unreadable like -om_item_flag in the [map].lvl files actually works for 1-flag maps, just not 2-flag maps. I could create a playlist of only 1-flag maps, and everything would work fine, but when the server tries to load a 2-flag map in which the flags were removed in the same manner, it crashes and restarts until a 1-flag or conquest map is loaded. Any ideas? Does anyone know the proper hex edits that must be made to remove flags from all CTF maps, not just 1-flag maps? Does an actual mod need to be made? Sorry for the repetitive posts, but I thought that the more information we have, the easier it will be to remove the flags properly.

Just to clarify, the reason I don't want to use -SR-Fasty's mod is because command posts aren't capturable, and I want some working conquest maps in the playlist along with no-flag CTF (TDM) maps.
