Favorite anti-zombie melee weapons
« on: July 29, 2015, 07:38:45 PM »
Several modelers have contributed their time and effort creating awesome weapons for the walking dead SWBF mod and other mod projects. More weapons are being featured in the mod than are seen in the show! Vote here for your favorite weapons. There is also a way to add 6 custom animations now instead of just 1, so there will be more variety to the weapon attack styles.

Spoiler: credits (click to show/hide)

Since adding the trenchknife to poll I'm unable to reset my votes to 0 without resetting all of them, so I'm posting my updated choices here for advanced discussions.

I'd pick now the Katana, Monk Spade, Parang, Trench Knife, Bladed Brass Knuckle, Flanged Mace, and the Warblade.

Katana and Monk Spade would be my top 2 weapons. Katana for indoors, Monk Spade outdoors. These would be used for most of killing. Katana is a great weapon for slicing up zombies and using advanced tactical maneuvers. The monk spade is similar but works better for thrusting decapitations at longer range, and also the crescent works well for secondary slash attacks.

Parang would be a sidearm backup melee weapon on the belt in case main weapon was dropped, and used for more limited range indoors combat. The gator machete looks cooler IMO but the curved blade helps add more strength to each swing, and no teeth helps prevent getting the blade stuck .

Trench Knife and Bladed Brass Knuckles would be used as secondary backup weapons, such as prone combat when fighting zombies in a ventilation shaft, or fighting zombies underwater. Would have to wear strong bite-resistant gauntlets of course. It would be great to have the trenchknife in one hand and bladed brass knuckle in the other.

Crowbar would be chosen over the bat because of more uses. Climbing axe and Ice axe are cool but might get stuck in zombies. Scythe and Sickles would be hard to wield effectively. However, the Crowbar is not ase useful as the Mace overall, as a primary Blunt weapon, the Flanged Mace is considered one of the finest, especially if made from Titanium (as should the monk spade and all heavy weapons.)

Mace would be for killing armored zombies due to the epic crush, even stronger than Axe. but TBH id use this weapon if there was a model lol http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_iuhU4Q2yf0Y/TN_E5KfACRI/AAAAAAAAA1c/HdZWgiSThLY/s1600/ba.bmp

Warblade would be the ultimate dual handed weapon for crowd control but would take alot of practice. I'd choose the Long Sickle or Kwan Dao in place of this if there wasn't enough practice. Other viable choices are staff of horus, which would work best if defending a moat from zombies, or the scythe which would work well in an open field against zombies.

Chainsword is a bad idea unless you are covered in astronaut/hazmat suit and have tons of fuel. The reason being it sprays infected zombie blood everywhere, the noise draws in more zombies, and it can run out of fuel or the chain jammed up in zombie flesh. So for practical reasons I wouldn't use this weapon, but in TWD mod it will be overpowered for sure

This is absolutely fantastic! xD

Great work guys

Hey, Phobos, whatever the weapon is in between the Shovel and the Staff of Horus, in the picture, is not named... Can I assume it is the Long Sickle, as that does not appear in the picture but in the poll?

The pic is updated, that is the long sickle. The weapon pictures are not scaled to perfect sizes like ingame.

With all your modding, you completely forgot this amazing beaut that kills monsters so efficiently, a 15 year old girl uses it.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Other than that omission, this looks like it's gonna be a fun mod, all my WaW Zombies and H1Z1 skills can finally pay off in BF.

Honestly, nothing better than a sturdy cricket bat.

Anything else just isn't cricket.

These are my favs -->
*Green ones are completely necessary ones, the rest are just my fav, but I do not think I'll get the Staff of Horus or the Staff of Osiris if a real apocalypse happens xD

However, if it was possible, I'd get these 2 weapons lol

A baseball bat, no doubt. It is lightweight, never stucks in enemy's body, no needs weapon license, and doesn't require a high physical skills to use. Its an usual accessory for any business discussion, especially if your opponent is a zombie.
Beauty is, the way to perfection.

I've updated the pic to say Scythe of Osiris instead of Staff. I'd definitely bring the Katana, Monk Spade, Flanged Mace, Camp Axe, and Parang for killing walkers. Long weapons like the scythe and sickle would be fun but only effective out in the open.

There's tons of cool weapons not featured currently, maybe some more will be created later. I eventually plan to add a pitchfork, trenchknife, and the lobotomizer/etool by max brooks. Also with dual weapon wield mod, the Twin Tiger Hook Swords would be really cool. They're like a combination of sword, crowbar, and sickle.

Yeah this is a fun weapon  we plan to add the chainsaw and pitchfork models once they're built. For now the chainsword is being used instead. I don't know if the weapon model can be animated, but the chainsaw sound will be added.

I take the crowbar (freeman style) Fire Axe (Jack Torrance tyle) Katana (Deadpool style) Machette, and I forgot what  I added.
