Game crashes when trying to play custom map with custom sides

So I recently downloaded Battlefront 2 and the mod tools to make my own custom maps. I was making stuff with jedimoose32's tutorials. But in his tutorial for skinning units ( ) when I write "dc:" in front of "SIDE\\rep.lvl" (to make the game load the files from data_ABC\Sides instead of Star Wars - Battlefront 2\GameData\data (he does it at 2:51)), and munge it, I get the error ERROR[levelpack shell.req]:Input file shell.req does not exist. [/spoiler] Btw I have Windows 10 and I downloaded the game from gog.com if that has anything to do with it.

In order not to crash both the server and the client must share the same SIDE.
If it's only a matter of skins, I'd rename the existing files to something like filename_backup and add to that folder the new files.

But I didn't even modify the skins. The republic folder in my data_ABC is the exact same folder as in assets/sides/. The only thing is that I changed is the hero for republic being darth maul in ABCc_con.lua and rep.req. Could the problem be that ABCc_con.lua refers to the republic folder as "DC:SIDE\\rep.lvl" instead of Sides like the folder rep is in is called?

Without know exactly what you did or what you are trying to do, it will be very difficult to let you know exactly what the problem is. 

However, modding for SWBF/SWBF2 makes use of a lot of parts that get changed.  If you haven't done one part just exactly right, you get a crash. 

Here is what I suggest: 
-read a lot of modding tutorials
-start very simple with just a mission.lvl mod or a side mod
-try it, see if it works
-keep reading
-try some more
-add another feature
-try it
-etc.
