Just got it working, looks like no one online atm but functions like a charm. That said, Gameranger is no longer functioning. It opens and lists the servers as it should, but when I attempt to join a game it opens SWBFII then gives me the "busy" pop up for 15 seconds-ish then says "could not connect". Now I don't really like gameranger to be honest, but since SWBFspy's servers seem empty for now, its more or less my only option. Please tell me how to either revert my patched copy of battlefront II to normal, or tell me how to change it to allow me to use GR, if possible.

Simply replace the SWBFspy edited exe with your original one, and all will be back to normal.

If you don't feel like switching back all the time, you can leave the original exe as battlefrontii.exe and call the new SWBFspy exe something like battlefrontii-swbfspy.exe, then make a short cut from the battlefrontii-swbfspy.exe to your desktop, then start the game from that shortcut when you want to use the internet master servers and start up GameRanger as usual.

GameMaster doesnt work with GR, so SWBFSpy won't either. you need the original exe file, what you could do if you don't have it, if you have the game on steam, firstly take everything you want from GameData: your SWBFSpy exe, your addon folder (if you have mods installed), and anything really.
then go to Steam Library, right click on SWBF2, go to Properties, go to Local, then go to Verify game cache. this will do a scan of your game and it will add back any deleted files (if you don't have the original exe file) however, reason I say for you to take addon folder and SWBFSpy exe and anything else is because, the scan will get rid of them sadly. so if it's on your desktop or downloads folder or anyhere it's fine as long as it's not on GameData.

good luck :)

You might want to make the patches downloadable without registration. Also is there anyway we can draw players away from Gameranger?

We won't stop someone from hosting the files elsewhere, but we do want players to register here so that they know where they can come for help and can verify the authenticity of the files.

If registration is too inconvenient, then installing a patched exe is probably not convenient either.   ;)

You will notice that we do not spam you with emails and there are no advertisements that litter most game sites--so free registration is a very small price to pay.

The Gameranger issue is tricky.  The GR developer is a member of our site, and has been very helpful to us (and players of many old games).  Some players will prefer GR, but perhaps the best option is to let players know they have a choice and that SWBFgamers is committed to keeping SWBFspy operating for 10-20 years into the future.

Well the masterseerver generally provides servers with a better connection compared with GR

Yes, I concur.

I just want to keep Scott Kevill (GR developer) on our side, and not give the impression that we are competing with him.

I personally don't find him that polite. and I think he's the one who seems to like competing with people...

Well you don't have to if it will make you both argue or something. Just felt like sharing how he's like.

cd key is not authorized error on battlefront 1
Anyway to allow multiple players with the same cd key play on the same server? if you can do that, i bet i can get more players on them.
