Just a bit of a thought here: the new Battlefront 2 game has 'Reinforcements' which are basically equivalent to the original games' "Special" class. However, unlike the original games, the new 'Reinforcements' depend on the map you're playing. So for instance, for the Empire you might have Death Troopers on one map and Jump Troopers on another, or the Rebels will have Wookies only on Kashyyyk etc.

Would something similar for the 'Special' class be something people are interested in for Phase 2? Here's what I have in mind:

-REPUBLIC: Jet Trooper and Clone Commando
-CIS: Droideka and Super Battle Droid
-REBELS: Wookie Warrior and Rebel Specialist
-EMPIRE: Death Trooper and Dark Trooper
In Progress:

On Hold:
--Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron For SWBF1
--Endor: Imperial Base

When is Legacy Phase II coming out? ;)

I'm hoping to have the 'base' of it (which will include reworked sides, plus a selection of 'new' maps) by the end of this year.

I'm looking forward to the Rogue one troops. Will there be Scarif? :tu:

Cool!
Have you made the sides for Tatooine?
Sereja's Mos Eisley Spaceport has a side called Local Scum. Local Scum would be good on multiplayer for tatooine. It would be good on Legacy phase II. ;)

So, a few things to say:

First off, I aim to have the 'base' done by Christmas. The base will contain a selection of 'new' maps to the mod.

Second, I've been toying a lot with ideas and I've settled on what I want to do. I won't be able to comfortably achieve having multiple 'Special' classes, partly because I want to keep the gameplay fairly consistent across all maps. I would require a sixth unit, which is out of bounds, unfortunately (maybe if/when I get to do SWBF Legacy 2, or if somedoby manages to find and override that particular setting in the executeable). So, I'll be sticking to the stock class setup.

Having said that, there are a few changes I have made in light of things:

-I'm toying with the idea of removing the Soldier's three-shot rifle and replacing it with the Pilot's shotgun. If that happens, the pilots will instead each have a unique pistol.
-The Rebel Vanguard gets the RT-97C. The DH-17 gets moved to the Rebel Pilot/Engineer.
-The Rebel Marksman gets the DLT-20A Sniper Rifle and the A180 is its backup.
-The Scout Trooper gets the DLT-19D.
-Some of the models have undergone a rework. The DLT-19 series has had its barrel refurbished with mesh parts borrowed from the TFU model so it looks closer to the original weapon, I've also used this to create the DLT-19D. I did alter the A280 series models a bit as well, I've also built the Valken-38X model for the Republic.
-Sounds have also undergone some rework. While I did record a few sounds from the EASWBF2 beta for a gun we explicitly don't have sounds for (the E5-C and Valken-38X) the rest are mixed anew from existing soundbanks. The DLT-19D and the new DH-17 sound both come from Rogue One (the DLT-19D has awesome sound design, BTW).
-I've started inserting new heroes. At the moment, Jyn Erso and The Emperor are working, complete with "target acquired" phrases (you'll hear the Emperor say "soon the Rebellion will be crushed" and "Now you will experience the full power of the dark side"). I tried to get Princess Leia in, but no dice: the game won't take the skeleton needed for her, so she's out, at least for the time being until I can figure out how to get her in.

At the moment, the hero lineup is set to be as follows:
ALLIANCE:

-Chewbacca
-Han Solo
-Luke Skywalker
-Jyn Erso
-X2

EMPIRE:

-Boba Fett
-Darth Vader
-The Emperor
-Director Krennic
-X1

CIS:
-Count Dooku
-Jango Fett
-General Grievous

REPUBLIC:
-Mace Windu
-Anakin Skywalker
-Obi-Wan Kenobi
-Yoda
-Aayla Secura
-X1
-X2
Been working on the heroes lately with a Mos Eisley TDM map as my testing ground - yes, you'll get that map to play around with as well!

Focused on the GCW heroes because the balancing needs a bit of work, but here is what I've got set up so far:

Rebel Heroes:
-Luke Skywalker - Lightsaber, Saber Block, Force Push
-Han Solo - DL-44 Blaster Pistol, Lucky Shot, Detpack
-Jyn Erso - A180 Blaster Pistol Configuration, A180 Blaster Rifle Configuration, Baton Attack
-X2 - Modified A280C Blaster Rifle, DLT-20A Pulse Cannon, Thermal Detonator, Force Push
-Chewbacca - Bowcaster, Remote Charge Dispenser, will probably give him Rebel Resources

Imperial Heroes:
-Darth Vader - Lightsaber, Saber Block, Force Choke (essentially a modified Force Push that does damage without pushing)
-The Emperor - Force Lightning, Lightning Pulse, Imperial Resources
-Director Krennic - DT-29 Blaster Pistol, Orbital Strike, C2-B5 Droid Dispenser (this will be a mobile shield generator)
-X1 - ARC Caster, T-21B Heavy Blaster, secondary weapons not yet set in stone
-Boba Fett - EE-3 Blaster Rifle, Wrist Flamethrower, Wrist Rocket, Detpacks.

I have to say, some of the heroes are really fun to play as! Boba Fett's Flamethrower just slays, and the Emperor is pretty fun too! All of them have dialogue (it's pretty cool to hear the Emperor say "Soon the Rebellion will be crushed!"). At the moment, the Rebel Heroes are more 'completed' than the Imperial ones and it shows as they often win the matches. Reinforcement counts are set to 100, with 16 AI on the filed (don't want to overfill the map). I've also figured out how to get the saber block working, though AI obviously won't use it. I've set it as a secondary weapon like the Force powers. It works as such: you activate it, and for ten seconds you're impervious to laser fire and lightsaber strikes (but you can still be damaged by explosives near you, mines, being run over etc). During those ten seconds you can't attack or switch to your Force Power. Best way to use it is if you're surrounded, or on low health near a health droid.

I've yet to properly get started on the Clone Wars heroes, but a lot of what I do will be built off what I do with the heroes in GCW. I also plan on doing two more "Hero TDM" maps - one for Coruscant and one for Naboo - which may give some hero variation - I haven't yet made Sith X1 or Jedi X2 as heroes. Leia has proven practically impossible to do because of her skeleton setup though I may try to get around that by seeing if I can scale her up a bit to the stock skeleton.

I've pretty much got a great deal of the hero work done now, I've already gotten one of the hero maps ready (Mos Eisley). So here are a few screenshots from my most recent test run:

Here's some notes from the test:

-The Stormtrooper and Shock Trooper now use the TFU Wii model. I love this model and thanks to SleepKiller's model_edit, I don't even get a huge amount of low-res flipout (only at distances).
-The Rebel Vanguard and Rebel Marksman both have new skins: Sullustian and Twilek, concurrently.
-I've replaced a lot of the weapon models with newly-made or upgraded models. The RT-97C is Sereja's awesome model.
-Anakin's skirt doesn't appear to render on the spawn screen, and I have yet to give Yoda his proper robes either.
-Yes, the Emperor has only got his Force Lightning. This is done intentionally, but he does have a Clone Wars-era counterpart in the name of Darth Sidious who has the Lightning and a Lightsaber.
-Force Choke doesn't work like an actual Force Choke, as we can't make the units 'choke' like they do in SWBF2, but it does deal rapid damage.
-Originally Captain Rex had Republic Resources, but Yoda felt too samey with Obi-Wan when he had Force Push. Also, Yoda is pretty much impossible for AI to hit with lightsabers, but Dooku sorts that issue out.
-At the moment, Force Push and Force Pull deal damage but that will be changed.
-Yes, the DLT-19D makes the correct sound when fired.
-Sniper rifles no longer fire a beam but a bolt. That's based off the new game partly but also based off the DLT-19D in Rogue One. It would seem odd for all but one of the sniper rifles to fire a beam.

That looks amazing man, I can't wait to experience this mod for myself, so I guess you won't release it anytime sooner?

I'm aiming for Christmas for the 'base' game. Once all the sides work is done, all that needs to be done is implementing the new maps. For sure this means that a majority of the converted SWBF2 maps are going in, and I want to at least try to get a couple of custom maps in too (like Sereja's Mos Eisley and Otoh Gunga maps). I'll probably also add in my first 'attempt' as well, a Scarif map (as at the moment I don't have a place to put Krennic or Jyn as heroes).

After that, I intend on supporting it with further expansions.

Remember when I couldn't get Sereja's maps to load? I've found a solution.

All i did was move my custom common.lvl to my _LVL_PC/Legacy folder, restore the default one and then call on the custom common.lvl in my mission.lvl. Boom: Sereja's maps are now compatible with Battlefront if you run Legacy Phase 2. It's the same method Sereja uses for his mod maps.

Hmmmmm.... So this mean I could use this to call Ferocious files to play them in Sereja's maps right ?
So, do we need the map assets for this ?

That's not exactly what I'm getting at.

It turns out that a custom common.lvl conflicts with Sereja's common.lvl loaded with his maps, and the result is the game hangs with no way of exiting short of CTRL-ALT-DEL and logging out to force the game to shut.

By that same technique Sereja employs, we can make it so that the game works with Sereja's maps without causing the hang.
