Can Servers Handle More BOTs?

Hi all,

Recently I've been curious, is there a reason there's only 16 AI at the most on servers? Being in the EU in all, it gets pretty damn lonely on the servers and I never stick around much since have 16 or less AI is pretty boring. I'd prefer large scale battles.

I would prefer something around 32 AI per team. Maybe more if it was possible. But I'm just wondering if there's a reason as to why there's not so many AI units in the games.

I would happily host my own 24/7 dedicated server when I finish gathering the equipment required, however that could be a long time from now. If it's possible, could we increase the amount of AI?

U can add as many as u want...
Dont know what the limit is, though... but im sure its over 16 (in fact i think the SM allows u to add up to 32 bots)

I do not really like bots in my servers, so thats why u wont see them there

Ah right, ok. I can't remember but I think the limit was 40 or something like that? I was just curious why some people don't have a lot of bots in their servers.

Certainly because with the ping of the players, BOT's become uncontrollable and too hard to eliminate. More certain servers favor the fight beetween"true players" and thus exclude BOT's =)

I haven't found it any harder to kill BOTs when playing on servers with 32 or more. I thought it would be an issue on the hoster's end.

I said that certain players with high pings could find difficulties to kill BOT's because their motion and attacks could be hard to predict

Ah right, I see now. However that's the same for PvP so I don't see how that would make a difference.

BOT's motions and players motions with high ping (~200) are not the same. Trust me i often play on gameranger server and i'm sure of what i spoke about lags and bots. Interrogate gameranger swbf2 people, BOT's turned in hard mode are really boring when they bi-shoot you ^^'

TWD server has over 64 bots on some maps, but due to the limited memorypools of the game engine for multiplayer, you can't see all the player models when that many units are spawned at once. The low meshes start disappearing also. Some AI turn invisible even on radar unless you are facing in their direction. In singleplayer the memorypools are higher so you can see more AI at once.

The reason why some players with high ping might lag more against bots than other players is because AI always have 0 ping. So the difference between 200 ping and 0 is greater than say 200 and 70. The server command /waitlate helps with this but isn't supported on SWBF v1.2
