Requests / Multiplayer Chat Logging
June 26, 2016, 01:50:16 PM
Hi all,

I understand that there are already servers that log the chat of multiplayer servers, however I was wondering if there'd be a way for the public to see the last 5 messages posted in chat by pressing 'T' or 'Y' to chat.

This would come in handy because sometimes I miss a message as I'm focusing on something else and I'd like to check it but it disappears.

Would something like this be possible?

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello all,

I've been looking at these posts pop up for the past couple of days and I can't seem to get my mind around what all of this is. I have a rough idea and I'm unsure whether it's correct so I don't want to join in with the discussions until I know what everyone's talking about.

So this Internet Master Server, let's call it "IMS" for short. Is it to do with the game servers (I'm guessing it is) or the website? It says "Server Browser" in brackets which is why I'm getting confused.

As I'm assuming it's to do with the game servers, I want to elaborate. I wondered what GameShare was at first and I'd assume it's where GameMaster, the replacement of GameSpy, came from. Is this IMS a replacement for GameMaster/GameSpy?

Also, will there be any servers getting shut down?

What will the effect on the game be, if any?

It doesn't seem like a major issue since nobody is panicking. However it's just really odd how quickly this has spiked up and it's going so fast I can't keep up.

I hope you're able to answer these questions, I will quote the answers to the questions once we have them and I will add more Q&As to the list if I continue to ask more, depending on how well I understand the answers or if they create new questions that need answering.

Thanks and have a great day!

PS: I hardly know much about networking, specifically why some of these questions may sound amateur coming from me.

General / Cross-Platform Discussion: Pros and Cons
March 18, 2016, 08:48:42 AM
Hello all,

Before we begin I would like to ask if you could read the ENTIRE thread before replying. Thanks!

After the huge announcement of PC and Console cross over, I too agree that this is some pretty amazing news. However, I feel like people are only looking at the positives to this and ignoring the possible cons. So first of all let's go over the pros:

- Possible end to the "This platform is better than that" argument.
Of course we all enjoyed the good times of debating whether PC is better than console (which it is in most cases) and whether Xbox is better or Playstation is better but it sometimes went out of hand. Consider this as a peace treaty between the two consoles and time to test their strength against the PC community. Or maybe it will even end the "PC is better/worse" argument and we'll all walk away as one big, happy gaming community.

- A lot of exclusives may no longer be exclusive.
As much as people may miss the whole idea of exclusives, they are likely to be played across all platforms from here on wards. Why? Because the developers would be using the same servers, right? Of course. This wouldn't cost the developers, it would actually help them profit, right? I'd assume so anyway.

- Better Communication
We all love to talk to our online friends, although we sometimes struggle keeping in touch with others on a different platform. Cross-platform will wipe out this issue and allow those on both the consoles and PC to get together and communicate through voice once again. The Xbox App for Windows 10 sets a great example for this. But to actually be able to play together? Even better. Right?

Those are a few pros that I see to cross-platform. However even those are pretty flawed themselves. So now lets jump straight into the cons, the reasons why I think Microsoft need to stop and think:

- PC will have a HUGE advantage.
As "PC is better than console" as it sounds, I'm afraid to say that this is very true. I've played all three, Xbox, Playstation and PC and I'd have to say that PC will ruin it for consoles. Why?
1. Mods. PC have a stupidly large advantage with the ease of using mods, whether the game has "cheat detection" or not. Hell, people in E-Sports have even walked out of matches to only have been caught cheating months later. There is no way this is going to give console users a good time.
2. CS:GO. Counter Strike has an extremely large community. In fact, if you don't have it on Steam you're often frowned upon (not literally). This game requires a lot of skill which, over time, PC gamers have got better and better with the mouse and keyboard with. This moves me onto the next point.
3. PC have a Mouse and Keyboard. Right, this is an issue which is equally as important as issue 1. With PC's advantages over the mouse and keyboard and the opportunity to change DPI with a click of a button, and extra buttons to give you a higher advantage, consoles could barely compete with PC users.

- Could possibly enhance the "This platform is better than that" arguments.
So as much as there is a possibility it could make people realize what the better platform is, it may make them hate the other platforms even more. Either way, it could either go one way or another so it's pretty much a 50/50 chance.

- More bugs may occur.
In some ways this could be an advantage. For example, it widens the job opportunities for QA Testing. Never the less this will make it worse for the average gamer. We just want to sit down and enjoy the game without any stress right? Does that often happen? Yes. Does it always happen? No. Would we like the chance of this not happening increasing? No, of course not. This could just make things worse. If a bug were to occur, it would have to be fixed and tested across all platforms rather than often being just one. Also the increase in bugs will be very possible since getting consoles compatible with each other (including PC joining in) will create a lot more compatibility issues. This meaning that release dates may be further increased or games may have launches worse than 2015! *Cough *cough GTA V *cough Fallout 4 *cough *cough.

- Has a HUGE effect on public opinion around the Gaming Industry.
The reason I put this in the cons is because if cross-platform goes terribly wrong, public opinion around the gaming industry could plummet to its lowest stages. If Microsoft disagreed to do anything about it, or even make it worse, it could lead to the community members depleting. As much of a 1:1000 possibility this is, it could still lead to something similar the the North American video game crash in 1983. Remember what I said before you comment on this! 1:1000 possibility.

So after seeing all of this, you may be thinking "Why don't we just take PC out of this, then there wouldn't be such an issue with cross-platform?" This wouldn't work. First of all, it would take away Microsoft's promise to Windows 10 users about cross-platform with Xbox One. This would effect Microsoft a great deal. Besides, there's an easier fix. Want to hear it? Because I can't believe barely anyone has come up and said this.

THEY COULD ADD AN OPTION! Instead of having the issue of people possibly leaving online games due to cross-platform, you could allow them to turn it off.
PC community too hard to face? Turn it off.
Consoles too easy? Turn it off.
Too many arguments? Turn it off.
Want to play with people on the same platform to play games fairly? Turn it off.

So simple, and I doubt it would cost them a lot to do.

What do you guys think? Please note, these are all from MY OPINION so if you see things differently, please share your ideas or flaw my thoughts in this thread.

Thanks and have a great day!

Tech Support / Various USB Ports Not Working?
February 27, 2016, 03:28:35 AM
Hello all,

So I turned my PC on today and tried to log in to my computer. Turns out I couldn't because the Keyboard was not working. So I checked the mouse and that one worked. Bare in mind, I NEVER use wireless equipment.
So I tried a different keyboard, that didn't work either. Then I turned my PC off, then back on again. No luck. Then I figured out that the mobile device I use to tether a connection between my hub and PC wasn't working either.

After about 15 minutes of googling the answer to my problem, they were all the same. "Update Drivers" because when has that EVER worked? I've now plugged my keyboard into a USB slot that DOES work and also done the same with my mobile. However I don't think I can fit in anything else now as NOTHING else is recognized (i.e don't have enough working USB ports)

The important thing is I have the most essential items plugged into all working ports which is good. However, how do I fix my other ports? It can't be a hardware problem can it? Keep in mind that this happened overnight when I was sleeping. Any solutions would be appreciated!

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi all,

I'm looking for all of the images for when you're selected what side to play in Galactic Conquest on SWBF1.

I currently have the Empire and CIS, but not the others. If someone could provide them, it'd be much appreciated. And in case you don't know what I'm on about, I'll provide the images I currently have.

Hello all,

First off, probably not the best place to post this. I'm hoping that someone can find me the best way to play multiplayer on Star Wars Empire At War or Republic At War. I think Republic at war would be the same though.

So what would be in your opinion or from your knowledge the best way to play multiplayer on Empire At War? I heard Tuungle allow it but I was hoping for something like GameRanger, or even better, GameMaster.

If you can put me in the right direction, that'd also be very much appreciated as well!

Hope you can help as I'm hoping to play EAW and RAW with a friend.
Thanks and have a great day!
-TheGangstarTY

EDIT: Here is the best option so far!

Star Wars Empire At War/Forces Of Corruption - GameRanger

Star Wars Republic At War (Forces Of Corruption Expansion Mod) - GameRanger

How to play Republic At War Multiplayer:
Quote from: Ltin on February 09, 2016, 03:17:20 PM
I dont know how gameranger works, but I think all data goes through gameranger servers first, so your connection speed to there would be important.

Will edit in a bit to see if RAW will work.
edit: have to make some adjustments to file system first
editII: to use RAW via gameranger you need to replace the folder corruption's Data folder with the Data folder from the RaW folder (remember to make a backup!).
I am having some technical issues on my end that seem to be an issue with something somewhere else.
It may or may not be related to what i tried to do.
so try that, and first try running it in single player without gameranger and if it gives you an error or doesn't start, let me know.

Hello all,

Since private servers are now officially a feature for Star Wars Battlefront EA Reboot, why don't we plan a sort of friendly tournament?
I would love to play in one server with just people from SWBFGamers, it'd be interesting to find out who would win. Especially since some of us have mixed opinions on which is their preferred weapon, star cards, traits and heroes. Maybe on Walker Assault or Supremacy? Or maybe even fighter squadron?
No matter what the game mode is, I just want to participate in a tournament for this game, desperately! Anyone else want this?
If so, what platform would it be hosted on? I was hoping PC due to more software available for recording results on the tournaments and the pure fact that I only have a PC. But then again, more people here seem to only have it on Console rather than PC

I've no idea, I've never hosted and I wouldn't want to host (too much effort for me  :P ) but there's some people who've hosted ICW5 and other tournaments before, who would know.

Thanks and have a great day!

Requests / SWBF 1 - Helms Deep 3.0
January 16, 2016, 02:41:29 PM
Hello all,

This is one of my favourite maps out there, especially in the category of battles with hundreds of troops.

I was looking at the old Helms Deep 2.0 topic and noticed Droideka's Comment:

Quote from: Droideka on July 30, 2009, 10:29:26 PM
It's easy to beat the map, you just have to cap the deeping wall and then try and either take the staircase below the Tower, or you can try to go through the area surrounding the main gate and stop the soldiers going through there.

I do agree that the map is way too easy to win as the defender. There should be a couple hundred less reinforcements for the defender, and the attacking team should be able to have some sort of artillery-type vehicle to make a real siege, and the defenders could have something to counter that with.

The turrets on top of the Keep are also totally useless- you can't aim them to hit anything unless you go backwards and shoot everything in the keep.

To be accurate with the movies, there should also be a slope where some sort of help can arrive for the defenders, some sort of alternative base or whatever. I'm not expecting gandalf with a cavalry charge though  :P

Ladders would also be cool for the attackers, both the short ladder and the long one used to get to the keep in the movies. The attackers can't get in the castle as it is, unless they blow up the drain gate or the main gate.

Just some thoughts, if somebody modded the map a bit after getting permission from the creator, that would be really cool. This is a great map even with the issues in it.

I 100% agree that this could make the map even better. I was wondering if the assets would be allowed to be released so someone could improve it even more. As always, I would try to do this myself, but Windows 10 absolutely sucks.

Thanks and have a great day!

General / "TRAITOR" - The Stormtrooper's Backstory

Requests / SWBF2 - New "First Order" Era? SPOILERS ALERT!
December 19, 2015, 10:02:19 AM
Hello all,

Due to the release of Star Wars The Force Awakens, I had the idea that we should have a new era for SWBF2. This has been bugging me now and I need to just get the idea out even though lots of others may have thought the same thing.

I just would LOVE to see a new First Order era in Star Wars Battlefront 2. Because hey, EA are too :censored: lazy to make a proper Star Wars Battlefront game.

Now the reason I say "era" is because pretty much everything on both teams need to change. Not sure about the weapons (except Kylo Ren's Lightsaber) but everything else needs remaking. New Tie-Fighters, X-Wings, Stormtroopers etc...
Also, it'd be good to be playing as Kylo Ren, Rey, old Han Solo and Finn on a game that's actually good rather than a game that's going to suck *cough EA *cough cough

So here is what I remember needs to be changed/modded:
First Order (Empire):

Leaders:
Kylo Ren - Darth Vader's Grandson, Leia's and Han's son.

Captain Phasma - Some bad captain of the First Order who clearly doesn't stand a chance if placed against Boba Fett. But shove her in anyway.
Units:
First Order Stormtrooper - Equipped with some sort of blaster rifle and blaster pistol.

First Order Heavy Gunner - Equipped with a heavy blaster rifle with blaster pistol. Has slightly different helmet and armour as the Stormtrooper.

First Order... Specialist? - I have no clue but there should be another one specialised in melee combat like the one in the image below.

First Order Flamethrower - Just some guy with a flamethrower. I don't know. Boba Fett has a smaller version so it could be possible, right?

First Order Pilot - Almost forgot this guy! Definitely required because look at that shiny suit! This time this dude requires a rapid fire gun, not some terrible 10cm range shotgun. Oh and just throw in another blaster pistol because why not?
Vehicles:
TIE Fighter - Yeah, not much new to the look other than the change of colour from black to white. Just an improved version, that's all.

Default Images can be found here: Star Wars The First Order Heroes and Units
Image Source can be found here: Hot Toys
Resistance (Rebel Alliance/Republic/New Republic):
Leaders:
Old Han Solo - Just Han Solo but with Grey Hair.

Chewbacca - Just good ol' Chewie! Just use default model.

Rey - With her new blue lightsaber and the outfit she never bothered to change.

Finn - With or without his stormtrooper outfit, either way he cannot handle a lightsaber for :censored: so give him a blaster instead... And just hope he has the balls to use one of those.

Poe - With either his jacket or his pilot suit... your choice. Either way, how could we leave good ol' Poe out?
Units:
Resistance Soldier - Just some boring Green-ish clothes with their helmet.

Resistance Pilot - Sort-of-new-but-looks-similar-to-the-old red-ish orange costume with the white harness.

Possibly other units but not sure yet.
Vehicles:
Poe's X-Wing - Now this looks too good. I don't see much point implementing it into the game but may find some way of excusing it.

X-Wing - Basically just an improved version of the old Rebel Alliance X-Wing. Oh and it's blue now, not red.

Maps (Don't have to follow the story, duh)
Jakku:
Crashed Star Destroyer - A map where the First Order and Resistance begin battle with Rey leading the Resistance with Finn and Poe to battle the First Order led by Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma. The Resistance depend on their ability of their pilots while the First Order rely on their ability to wipe out as much of the ground units as possible. Because come on, let's admit it, the First Order are terrible pilots compared to the New Republic.
Battle Scale: Extreme - Hundreds of units fighting head to head with tons of vehicles. Possibly with a Star Destroyer in the sky (that can be accessible by both teams, First Order units may spawn there unlike units of the Resistance).
Hero Type: Health - No timer. This means AI and Human players may select the hero at ANY TIME and the only way of that hero dying is from being shot to death. Not dying of a heart attack from spending too much time in battle.

Village - A map where Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma deploy themselves alongside their best troops to wipe out the village in search of the map of Luke Skywalker's location. Little did they know BB-8 ran half-way across the desert with it. Now the resistance has caught up with Poe leading them along-side Finn. Once again, how could the Resistance not bring their beloved X-Wings?
Battle Scale: Normal - 64v64 with a few vehicles.
Hero Type: Both - Poe and Kylo Ren have a timer but Captain Phasma and Finn have no timer and can be selected by AI too.

Scrap Market - A map where Kylo Ren sends Captain Phasma down with a large army of First Order Units to fight Rey and Finn before they escape the Scrap Market or whatever that run-down piece of junk was called. Plot twist! The Resistance once again jump in with their pro pilots and ground forces.
Battle Scale: Large - 100v100 with lots of vehicles. NO STAR DESTROYER.
Hero Type: Health - No timer. This means AI and Human players may select the hero at ANY TIME and the only way of that hero dying is from being shot to death. Not dying of a heart attack from spending too much time in battle.

"Unidentified Planet" that's made of green. You know, that forest map with the First Jedi Temple? Yea that one:
Jedi Temple - With some nut case compromising BB-8's location, Rey and Finn must fight alongside Han and Chewbacca. Not to fear! Despite the First Order's effort in deploying Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma into battle with the best of their ground and air forces, the Resistance have YET AGAIN got Rey and Finn's backs. What a surprise.
Battle Scale: Large - Large - 100v100 with lots of vehicles. NO STAR DESTROYER.
Hero Type: Both - Rey and Kylo Ren both have timers. Captain Phasma, Finn, Han Solo and Chewbacca must be selectable by both AI and Human players with NO TIMER.

Base Maps:
Battle Scale: Map Default.
Hero Type: Timer - The base game option, the timer. Heroes can only be played by Human players rather than AI. Only 2 heroes per map (1 hero and 1 villain).
Spare Images (No Spoilers Contained):

Hope there is some way someone could do this. I can tell it is possible because hey, look at the other Era mods like KOTOR. It just takes time... an EXTREME amount of time.

Thanks and have a great day,
- TheGangstarTY

PS: I understand that this probably wont be accepted as a project by someone until Star Wars The Force Awakens is released on DVD, Blu-ray etc...

Hello all!

I named this "Rumours and Wild Thoughts" so it could be a place where we could all hope, imagine, dream or hear about new content, glitches, Easter eggs you name it. All in this one thread. A bit like the "I have an idea" thread but for the EA Reboot and not just for mods.

So the thing I want to kick this thread off with is the rumour of Clone Wars. Most of us at least want a bit of the Clone Wars since it's always been a core element to Star Wars and like the guy says in the video I'm about to show you, the game will always feel a bit empty without it. Even to some who may not like the Clone Wars as much as the Galactic Civil War.
In the video below this paragraph, you'll see a tweet made by EA be thoroughly explained along with the narrator coming up with some absolutely WILD thoughts that could possibly happen but we'll all (obviously) have doubts for. But oh well, we can always dream, right? Even if you think "Oh this is rubbish" right now, I suggest you watch it since the guy has a point. EA DON'T normally reply to questions like "Will there be Clone Wars" and if they do, it's often a straight up no. So take a look at the video:
https://youtu.be/XEu6laYBdlc (Not sure how to turn this into a video you can just watch here)
So now you've watched it, what are YOU'RE thoughts on this? Do you think it may happen? From EA's awful reputation it seems unlikely but it could still be a possibility.

Another question I'd like to ask some of you, what would YOU like to see in the four upcoming Expansion Packs? Also, what would you like to see for free DLC? For the Expansion Packs, I'd like to see:
1. Clone Wars
2. Space Battles (Because how awesome would that look with the graphics EA are currently using?)
3. Star Wars Episode VI - The Force Awakens DLC (Like the new Imperials)
4. The Old Republic
But these are all MASSIVE game changers so there's definitely doubts

I'd love to hear all of your thoughts and hear rumours that you'd want to share. I'd also love to see what your opinions are on different rumours/thoughts.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello!

I was wondering, why is the requirements to play Star Wars Battlefront Reboot so... low?
The game looks way more beautiful than games like Grand Theft Auto V and Cities: Skylines but it doesn't hit the performance nearly as much as on GTA V and Skylines.

I thought it could be the amount of AI, etc... but the amount of AI on Skylines and GTA V doesn't affect my performance. Maybe it's the scale of the map?
Either way, my GPU and CPU can only handle GTA V on High settings at 30 FPS whereas Star Wars Battlefront Reboot gains 180 - 200 FPS on Ultra Settings. Payday 2 has a bigger hit on it than that and Payday 2 has older looking graphics, only about 20 AI on the map at a time and the map scale is often tiny! What am I missing???

I'm just asking this out of curiosity but this seems extremely peculiar to me since it looks like it should be incredibly demanding in requirements. Anyone have ANY idea why? Because I'm all out :XD:

Thank you and have a great day!

Hello all

I finally got my hands on Star Wars Battlefront EA Reboot today, along with lots of others whom were still in European countries awaiting the release until today, 19th November 2015. I've played it long and hard today so I can go straight ahead with my review.
I decided to open this up since people were posting their ideas in different threads, but there was no main thread to say what you liked about the game. I'll leave people's thoughts/reviews that have already been posted at the end of this massive piece of text.
First off, I want to say that I hope those of you who decided to buy the game before or on release have had a good time playing it and feel like at least a little bit of your money went to something you liked about this game. I really do hope you haven't bought it and felt like you hate this with passion.

My Review:
So, release day comes so I decide to play it shortly before I head off to school. This was my first impression and experience. I got onto it, excited to see what EA had to offer, despite my hatred for their company. Knowing that I'd spent good money on this, I didn't even want to push myself towards disappointment. So without hesitation, I fired up my first game (the beginning tutorial). The tutorial was OK but I didn't find it all that impressive since I knew how to play due to the BETA. However, I'm almost certain it would be helpful for those whom didn't get the chance/didn't want to play the BETA. Once I'd completed that, I moved straight to what EA are all about. The online. So this morning (in the UK) the servers were pretty fine, which is surprising since my experience with FIFA and Battlefield were awful.
During my first online game, I got to try out Walker Assault on Sullust. I love the look of Sullest and really like Walker Assault. The first experience of this was absolutely lovely and at the time I had absolutely NO REGRETS on buying this "overpriced" game. I was tucked in and felt like it really was a Star Wars game, the immersity is great! I went through with no lag, no disrespectful players, nothing like that. It's probably the best experience you could have when playing a game you've awaited upon for 10 years. Absolutely fantastic!
However, the second game was when my first bug came along. Oh dear. EA. Always a bug upon launch, isn't there? Now before I mention, this is NOT a hardware problem, nor is it anything wrong with my software. My only thoughts on this is that my download may be a bit off with a file not downloaded properly or something. But nobody else seemed to have this issue which is weird. My sound would all shut off once I enter a second online map. All except the ambience which just made it look like a peaceful battle with explosions with no noise and bullets with no precision. Once I rebooted the game, I was happy again since it worked. However I had to reboot my game after ever match which was annoying.

Later when I had come back from school I went and booted up the game again to give it seconds, since despite the bug the game was still great. This time, perfect experience. In the end, that bug only popped up twice throughout which made me feel much more cheerful and immersed in the game. However, guess what? More issues. EA servers went down 3 times for me, all taking 10 minutes each exactly to come back online. Not sure if this was all regions or just the UK. Besides that, there was another bug that happened where the sound crackled for some weird reason. I had to reboot to fix.

The gameplay, absolutely nailed it all the way through, 100% enjoyment on that part. The graphics and sound also didn't disappoint me, but instead made the immensity too good to be true, without the sound issues that is. However, like most people, I completely and utterly am disappointed that EA have given us such little amount of content that I'll get bored within a week. Unless someone joins me that is.
I hope that EA rebalance some of the maps too. Maps that need rebalancing:
- Tatooine: Walker Assault = Empire almost always win.
- Endor: Walker Assault = Rebels win most of the time.
Other game modes like Supremacy seem to be great and have a fair chance at winning and relies utterly on the players rather than giving a side an advantage, like in Tatooine and Endor's Walker Assault. I haven't played all the game modes on all the maps yet though so I'm still unsure about that.

Single Player and Co-op seems great! I haven't played Co-op yet but Single Player had me entertained for a few hours. I enjoy the Battles best, they're the closest to Single Player Conquest from Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 from Lucas Arts. The AI get harder like they should and an improvement that EA have made is the AI are actually Artificial Intelligence rather than Artificial Unintelligence.

Overall, the game was great, the immersity is successful but the bugs and lack of content should be dealt with.
7/10

I'd love to hear other people's opinions/thoughts/reviews on this, whether it's from someone else's observations (a YouTuber) or from your own perspective. Now awaiting the new Star Wars Movie from Disney ;)

Thanks very much for taking your time to read this and I hope you all have a very great day!

Well, I went and grabbed myself a disk tonight, and I must say I quite like the game. Me and my brother played several rounds of survival already, and me being a noob on xBox (one) was able to get the hang of it quickly.

I really like the ice crystals on the walls of Hoth caves :P

I was able to just go and get the Deluxe edition tonight without preordering. Mainly because my town is small enough that a new game release doesn't really go huge and sell out like it did before I moved. So yeah, that's cool.

I haven't set up an origin/EA whatever account for multiplayer yet, but I doubt I will since I suspect I need xBox live anyways (which I am not paying for xD)

I had the PS4 bundle pre-ordered and I got it yesterday. The game is pretty amazing in my opinion, I know it's nothing similar to the old Battlefronts but it's 2015 almost 2016, it's time to move on.

My deluxe edition Darth Vader PS4 bundle came in the mail yesterday.
I think the game's really awesome, though I'm a bit disappointed by the small amount of singleplayer content. Though overall I've found the game to be very fun and well polished.  :cheer:

I'm also loving the classic SW games the bundle comes with.

The maps are excellent. I love the speeder training mission through the forest. I haven't tried any online content yet cause i will prolly be destroyed and I'm trying to get all the stars in the training missions. It has 4 expansions for future content so I'm not too worried about the content right now with what they have.  Nothing like the old BFs but it is very fun to play.  I recommend it.

I have to second this. I've played all the single player content already xD..

It took me a few days to get through the original battlefront set of single player levels, which I think is something this new one can't really hold a candle to.

I'm parroting the above. I wrote a mini-review on Facebook:

Mini review of Star Wars Battlefront.

DICE have done a good job on recreating the Star Wars feel. It's a very competent shooter with some nice throwbacks to older Star Wars games. The biggest issue is the lack of content, especially the Single Player experience. The AI there is decent enough to get away with having more than just Training, Battles and Survival. The Multiplayer obviously has more modes and is quite fun (it's my first online shooter so I kind of suck compared to the other guys - or, let's put it this way, I was playing a stormtrooper for most of the matches, so that part is accurate lol) but again there is a lack of content. Some of the maps are largely the same as each other (Walker Assault and Supremacy share the same maps). Heroes are fun and on the PS4 starfighters are just as controllable as they were back in the original game. The token system is a nice idea for certain things but for others certain systems should be given in their stead. For instance, it doesn't really make sense to have a token that puts you into an AT-ST when it would be better if they had static AT-STs located at certain spawn points you could just hop in. People were ragging on the AT-ATs being AI controlled as well, but in all fairness that's probably for the best.

If you're looking for a continuation of the style from the first two games, I am afraid you'll be disappointed. It has quite a few callbacks, such as the ability to switch between first and third person (quite handily, you do not need to pause the game to do this now) and third person is handled really well.

All in all, Star Wars Battlefront is a competent shooter that is let down by the lack of content at launch. The Battle of Jakku will add two maps to the game and there will be four content packs you can get early if you got the seaosn pass. Setting those aside for the moment and judging the game at launch, I would give it a 7/10. It's a good start to a rebooted version of the franchise, but it clearly needed a bit more time in development.

I've played for two nights now and while there are a lot of positive aspects to the game, it isn't quite what I what hoping for.  The graphics and environmental detail are simply stunning, that much I liked.  But it's too reminiscent of the CounterStrike style of game - a bunch of highly skilled players running around pointlessly shooting each other, wrapped in Star Wars skins.  Aren't there enough games like this already?   How can a new player be competitive without an expensive gaming system, and the leisure time needed to accumulate credits for the best weapons?

What this game is missing is the campy fun of SWBF1.  Where is the rancor?  Where are the pigs with axes?  Sadly, I haven't recognized even one name from the other SWBF1 and SWBF2 users.

True true...Also i hate when DICE talk about their game in a way like there was not Battlefront game before their game.

(I saw some more, I'll add those later)

Hello,

So one of the SWBFGamers servers just had 2 people on it and I tried to join. I tried reloading the game, nothing. But the issue is that it keeps saying "Missing Maps" even though they're playing Stock maps. Any ideas?
Is it because I don't have some maps that are in the playlist for the server? If so, where can I download all required maps?

Thanks and have a great day!

Public Square / Member Count
November 17, 2015, 07:32:20 AM
Hello all,

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a member count? What I mean is a number showing how many members are signed up on SWBFGamers, placed some where in the Portal. It's nothing massive but I'd love to just check up on how SWBFGamers is doing since we seem to be growing quite a bit, by the looks.
Would this be possible and if so, would you allow it? I think it would be a pretty cool feature.

Thanks and have a lovely day!

Hello,

I was wondering if we're going to be modding SWBF Reboot. EA aren't the type to listen to their fans, nor are they the type to allow mods. So with that said, will we still be modding SWBF Reboot or just stick to modding the games made by Lucas Arts? SWBF Reboot is good in all, but I'm going to admit it. It's going to get boring faster than watching paint dry (not literally :XD: ) so we're going to obviously want some mods. I was hoping there would be some amazing genius who manages to create a campaign, but that'll never happen. What about a sort of single player conquest? That would still take a genius.

What mods would be possible is what I'm trying to ask. And are we, us at SWBFGamers, going to make mods for this game too?

Also, I heard that SWBF Reboot is out now in America before Europe? Has anyone had the chance to play it?

Thanks and have a nice day ;)

Hello!

I want to start off by saying I did NOT make/help make this, I have nothing to do with the development of this. However I'm just here to share it with those who may not have heard of it.

This has been out for quite a while now and it's a sort of addon for Star Wars Battlefront 2. It does not give you the game for free, you are still required to have the base game. This just adds and edits the base game.
The addon is made by "|)in-d1n" (Artemiy) whom is from Russia. He's made this addon to be available for various different languages.

The Ultimate Pack adds a launcher which allows you to easily switch between your custom mods (anything stored in the "Star Wars Battlefront 2>GameData>Addon" folder), Galactic Conquest Mods, a choice between two different mod packs he's put together and also allows you to play without any mods and just the vanilla game. Better yet, this is even changing features if you choose not to have mods. Artemiy has changed the loading screens, fonts, video previews (so you can now see what the map looks like before playing it) and lots more.
The launcher also helps you profit from the download since it comes with various different bug fixes that you can turn on and off from the launcher. He also added the ability to put on cheats from the launcher today!

This mod will not be updated any more (I don't think) but it's still worth downloading. You can even still play multiplayer! I find this an easier way to use Star Wars Battlefront 2 and from the looks of it, the graphics are better too. I'd say it's basically a remade version of Star Wars Battlefront 2.

If you like the sound of it, click here to go to the Steam page!

Or just click the spoiler to find the URL if the above method didn't work:

Thanks, hope I helped, and have a great day :D

SWBF1 Modding / Zero Editor "Runtime" Error

Hello,

Umm... This may be an issue...

Any fix to this?

So this is a common problem I'm having and before, I could just fix it by running it as Administrator. Now it doesn't even work once I do that.
Anyone else know any way to resolve this issue? I've got a map idea and want to give it another go.

Just found out why which may help you too ;)
I just chose it to Run as Administrator and it worked for me. Just a simple mistake I'd made

I also get that same thing when I open a new map for the first time, but it usually goes away the second time I open it. Doesn't really affect anything to my knowledge

Methods above don't work for me, even though they did before :/

Any ideas?

Hello everyone!

Since the Beta has come and gone, most of us now have an idea of what it's going to be like. However, there are still some who disagree with the reboot. So I wanted to see how different this goes than the poll before the Beta.
Also, what edition have you guys bought/going to buy/would buy?

I've already pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition for Star Wars Battlefront EA which was £54, despite my disagreement with the fact it feels a bit too much like Battlefield meets Call Of Duty rather than a mix between Star Wars and Battlefield. Overall, in my opinion, it's still a fantastic game!

What about you? What options did you choose and why?

Thanks!

Requests / SWBF2 - Dead Bodies Stay Mod?
October 26, 2015, 06:46:13 AM
Hello,

So there was a discussion on Steam a last year (Click here to view) on this idea and this idea was also mentioned in this massive list on Battlefront Wiki.(Click here to view).
However I have not heard anyone mention of such a thing existing except in one little YouTube video which some guy did it but wont share how.
Quote from: DarkxXxPredator;483367798510657059this guy did it but won't say how

So I was wondering, would anyone here be able to make a mod to make the dead bodies stay on the battlefield? It would be pretty good to see bodies pile up on the battlefield on those big maps with hundreds of soldiers.
There's something somebody mentioned though. The soldiers sometimes shoot the dead bodies for effect. Would they constantly do this and if so, is there a fix?

I think this would be a nice little addition that is possible. However it sounds hard to do.

Thanks and have a great day!
