Requests / SWBF All Reinforcements Spawn at once
January 09, 2021, 07:14:31 AM
Hi guys,

Just wondering if there's a mod for all reinforcements to spawn at the start of the game and to disable respawns?

I tried searching google but now is all I get is the absolute aids that is EA's mess of a battlefront.

I'm pretty sure it's possible for SWBF2 but not sure about SWBF1.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated :)

Cheers!

Couldn't think of a title so... yeah

Obviously not new but thought I'd stop by and say hi. I keep visiting briefly every so often but not logging in.

I recently bought SWBF (2004) on Steam since I couldn't be bothered to fix my disc version (infested it with mods, stopped gaming for like 2 years, came back and was all like what the :censored: is this) So yeah, that was a mess. I might fix it at some point though. I bought it whilst I was off my nut and I still get more joy from a 2004 game than I do from ANY game made after 2012 (rough estimate)

Anyway, I logged in and realised I had pages worth of unread posts. I still recognise a load of active users though, really cool to see this site still going strong. Also read a little on the "swbf drama", sucks to see that. I think I went inactive when that was just kicking off. Either way, glad to see you guys are still hosting SWBFSpy.com!

I would talk about my personal life but it's not interesting xD

Anyway, I might read around and stuff a bit more now! I hope you're all doing great, might see if I can get the ol' Discord back up and running.

Oh and do you guys not do ICW tournaments any more?

Glad to finally log in to my account for a bit of nostalgia xD Hope to hear from you guys!

Thanks!

Scummies / Extremely Innactive, Not Leaving Though
December 13, 2017, 04:32:11 AM
Hi all,

I didn't exactly know how to put this, or where to even post this so I just put it here. I felt it was kind of odd to just suddenly become in active after all the support this community gave me when playing SWBF. I kind of did the same thing to the Alpha clan website too so sorry about that to ya'll in Alpha too.

I would like to state that I'm not going to stop being active altogether, heck I'm on my PC every day. I'm just not gonna be active on this site because it's too much effort loading up another tab in my browser and typing in "sw" and then hitting enter. Like, who goes through that much effort? Jesus. The point is I just never come on this site any more.

The reason for my absence is because I suddenly got a life, found some new friends, left secondary school (or high school whatever it is in America), discovered alcohol, lost those friends, got removed from my apprenticeship program, forced to go to college, made some new friends, got a few jobs yadiyadiyada. So basically I'm too busy to be bored now so is all I do in my free time is chat to mates whilst playing or making games.

I was helping some people with projects, and correct me if I'm wrong but the only one I was still helping on this site was Phobos, correct? I kind of had to go inactive from everything so sorry to him and everyone else working on that project, wish him the best of luck with it.

I'd like to thank everyone whomst'd've helped me on this website and generally made my experience when playing SWBF better. I'd still be happy to participate in ICW tournaments. The other tournaments kind of bore me though unless they involve large team sizes (so I don't look trash when the leaderboards pop up). And yeah, when I play SWBF I may visit this site for mods and stuff.

If anyone wishes to play any games with me or if you just want to keep in touch or whatever idk just add me on Steam. Links are on my profile on this site. If not my discord is:

TheGangstarTY#8402

Just shoot me over a message letting me know who you are and that you're from SWBFgamers. I usually play all sorts of games. Or if you want advice on anything (I can specifically help on Games Development and stuff, just not the actual programming). Or if you just wanna chat.

I'll be checking for replies on this post in case anyone has any questions or just wants to hurl abuse at me because I dislike EA BF2 (because truly it's garbage).

Thanks a bunch to this community and Merry Christmas to ya'll,

- TheGangstarTY

PS: I'm always available through discord, some days I just don't have time for steam.

Other Games / SW: EAW Death Star
December 13, 2016, 12:19:30 PM
How do I destroy the Death Star? It doesn't tell you anything and it gives you 60 seconds to figure out what to do and I still don't have a clue.

I searched up on it, I either find stupid modded versions of the game or I'm told "Luke needs to survive" (easy, done it each time) and "All enemies must be eliminated in 60 seconds". That last one is stupid, it can't be done. How am I supposed to get 6 Mon Calamari cruisers past a nebular field to take down 3 Star Destroyers in 60 seconds, as well as the other 2-3 victory cruisers?

Are there any files I can edit to make the Death Star automatically fail?

Hello all,

As stated, this is not Star Wars specific, however feel free to post companions from ANY game, whether it's Indie, AAA or MMO. After voting, the main question I want to ask is who/what is your favourite companion in a game of all time?

Main reason I'm asking this is I am deciding on a concept for a game and hoping to execute it further on in time. This would help decide what kind of game I go for. Why AI specific? I absolutely love AI, but a lot of it is a mystery to me so far so I'm curious on whether I'd be looking for clever AI companions in my concept or not. But I could just do some research, right? Correct, and I have done, however I wanted to know what other people think and why in more depth (don't feel like you can only respond in an equal level of detail I have, just a few lines would do).

My favourite AI companion of all time was hard to pick. It was a struggle between either Alyx Vance from Half-Life 2 or Elizabeth from BioShock Infinite. Fergus from Wolfenstein The New Order and Helena from Resident Evil was close too. I would certainly pick Elizabeth. If anyone's interested in why I considered Alyx Vance then feel free to ask.
First off, I have completed BioShock Infinite including ALL the DLC and I'm shortly going to replay the main story line again DONE :XD: . I absolutely loved it. I love how EVERYTHING throughout is reflecting on the ending. The story behind it was brilliant and took me a while to fully understand but I could vaguely tell what had happened through my first play through anyway.
So why Elizabeth? "Booker DeWitt might be the hero, but Elizabeth is the game's heart" is a good way to begin. Unlike most companions, Elizabeth has an incredibly large play in the story and without her, it's dead. I found it fantastic that throughout the story line, Booker and Elizabeth experience a load of different emotions; cheerful, sadness, depression, hate, fear and many more. I rarely find a game that can do well at this, Alyx and Gordon in Half-Life didn't provide as much. However Elizabeth is an extremely likable character that you see change due to certain events and whilst being a non-playable character she doesn't get annoying ONCE. When I was ever left in a scene without Elizabeth in BioShock, I felt adrenaline to find her ASAP. It's not the same.
What truly makes Elizabeth great has to be the game mechanics.
Quote from: Gamer Limit
She actually runs at your speed, spouts relevant banter, and never gets in your way, despite the fact that she's with you most of the game. Irrational has eliminated the "annoying escort" trope altogether, and lets you empathize with Elizabeth that much more."
Critics have said a lot of positive things about Elizabeth but this quote in particular explains my opinion on the mechanics. "annoying escort" oh God is this so common with companions. I mean, Lydia get tf out of my way! (Skyrim Reference). Whereas Elizabeth never, not even once, got in my way. If I ran into cover and she was there she would immediately re position herself so that she's not going to get in the way. And if that wasn't good enough, she always threw the right thing at the right time. I only experienced one moment when she threw the wrong thing causing me to almost die. Yet I didn't because... I dunno I'm pro or something. Either way, it only happened once. Basically, what happened is I was a few hits away from dying for the first time in the entire game (completed it without dying) and I needed to take out a handy man and then instead of throwing health, Elizabeth shouts "Here, take this!" or something like that and flicks me a damn coin. Like hell Elizabeth I'll just go buy me some health then. Although it's partially my fault for not reading it properly. But every other time, when I felt like "oh God, this is it, my first downfall" she passes me whatever is needed. Having her to lock pick instead of you is also interest and I love the way that when you tell her to do something she immediately does it. Oh, not to mention how she points out possible loot locations that you haven't been in yet is epic.
All in all, it's extremely hard to find a reason to dislike Elizabeth and... well I would've said one but I can't actually think of one. So here's one from a critic.
Quote from: EDGE
Her role as the pair's lockbreaker, meanwhile, can sometimes pick at the illusion of her autonomy, since she instantaneously and cheerfully responds to DeWitt's beck and call.
Even the critics struggled, and this is legit the only good reason to dislike her. And it's barely even noticeable.

So what do you guys think? Do you share the same opinion as me? If so, do you have any different reasons to choose Elizabeth as the best companion? If not, who do you think is the best companion and what are your reasons for that choice? I look forward to hearing an answer.

Thanks and have a great day!

Yea, just imported your video onto a different site EA, how do you feel?

Since the new trailer for the Death Star DLC has arrived, it's safe to judge more accurately on it. I was curious to see how other people's opinions have changed...

Because mine haven't. Look, I'm not sugar-coating this because EA deserved to get DDOSed on the BF1 release (props to PoodleCorp) #inmemoryofGalaxyinTurmoil are harsh to other people so it's fair.. I still think that it looks and sounds nice, but the actual product is going to be another disappointment. Not today EA. I like the map layout, it looks good. I find it quite cool to see a fleet rather than just one massive destroyer in the game. The map just looks flat out empty considering they can only have a certain amount of AI, it's a shame they chose graphics over gameplay. Looks the same as previous expansions, just in space.

The hero choices are literally the worst thing since the COD: Infinite Warfare trailer. But oh well lets go with it because EA. So why is Chewbacca on there? Well, he was seen in the movies with Luke and his best mate Han and stuff saving his sister. Why is Bossk on there? :censored: knows. Only time I saw him on the Death Star was on Robot Chicken by Adult Swim. About Chewbacca by the way, they made his model way too shiny. Why didn't they put Obi-Wan and Darth Vader on there instead? Because :censored: the fans.

I wish DICE were able to do as good as they did with Battlefield 1. Oh, and the fact that it doesn't have Walker Assault makes me sad. And yes, I understand why that game mode isn't possible here, but it's the only game mode I ever play when I go on Battlefront so it's a bad choice for me.

Will I play Star Wars Battlefront (EA) again?
Yes.
When and why?
When I see the word "free" in my inbox. Because it's the only time I'll ever bother spending time on their "DLC".
And in tournaments if I ever join one, because otherwise it's just boring after a certain amount of time.

Sorry, this sounds so unenthusiastic... because it actually isn't. I just can't anymore. EA may have given me some incurable medical conditions.

Can someone please convince me that this is different? I need serious help.

In all seriousness though, what do you guys think? I know there are a few people who were going to buy it and I'm curious to know what their opinions are on this trailer. Someone proved me wrong about the whole "Space Battles are just going to be Fighter Squadron in Space" idea I came up with, can't remember who. It's cool to see destructible objects now. Imagine if the whole destroyer came apart?

Hello all,

I thought this would be a relevant topic considering Battlefront is similar to Battlefield and figured that some people here may have tried the open beta. I wanted to see what others thoughts on it are. You may not have much to say until tomorrow considering this is the Early Access day, which only insiders such as myself get. Tomorrow is the public version's release though.

To begin with, I wanted to get the worst parts about this game out of the way. For starters, it's a laggy mess which really lets this game down because it'd be so good if it wasn't. I find myself constantly freezing, for NO reason. Even in the menu it drops in FPS for no reason. Don't worry about this though, drivers are already coming out to fix this by the sounds of this new update that came in for me today. This is all fixed as long as you have the latest AMD/NVIDIA drivers (both released on 30/08/2016). I can assure you that both AMD and NVIDIA have already resolved this issue. The game is spot on ;)
Now for the good stuff. Gameplay. What do I think about it? I love the gameplay on this, sprinting across the desert trying to avoid being shot at by sharpshooters and planes. Charging at people in close combat with the bayonet and dodging heavy fire by mantling through buildings and over walls. Then getting into the train and unleashing hell onto those holding in buildings.
Whilst playing, I found myself talking about the realism. If you're in a tight spot you need to get down quick. It's very hard to escape someone shooting at you unless you're near a building. Otherwise craters are your only option. Oh, and about craters, if you're being chased by a vehicle (excluding horses) craters a great way to escape. Plant dynamite down and get out of that crater as soon as the vehicle is about to roll over it and then detonate the dynamite. I've got a lot of kills from that tactic. One more thing on realism, you'll find that the minute you pop your head out of cover, you'll be getting shot at.
The sound is great, but until the drivers are updated you'll have to put up with stuttering every so often. Same thing happened with Battlefront. I found that the game can be extremely loud when you're in the heat of battle. When you move onto Duff and Charlie, it'll be all out warfare and you wont be able to hear your friends that well.
Graphics as always are beautiful. I love getting up on the rocks at Freddy and watching all of the gunfire and dog fighting from planes at Duff and Charlie. Another exciting thing for me was the smoke. When the train passes or another vehicle passes you can use the smoke as an advantage. Especially at Duff, I often hide in or under the carriages until the train passes and then I charge into the building using the smoke so it's hard for people to see you. The way the graphics can be used as such an advantage is incredible.
Other comments to make is the fact that this game has an unpredictable weather system in place too. This can also be used as an advantage but I'm not yet sure if this at all effects the bullets. However it's still a great feature.
All in all, this is an incredible game. This clearly shows how incredible EA's Battlefront would be if they hadn't rushed its release just to get it for the movie. I hope that come the next Battlefront, they would've spent as much time on it as they have on this. Once the drivers are up to date I'm sure this game will be almost flawless. Will I buy it? No. Would I buy it if I had the money to spare? Yes. I would recommend this game.

So that makes me wonder, how many of you have played this and have you enjoyed it as much as I have? I'd love to discuss it in the comments. I want to leave you all with one thought. Imagine what Battlefront would be like with a destructible environment?

Thanks and have a great day!

Requests / Cloud City Rebel Model
August 21, 2016, 12:08:59 PM
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has a Rebel Model as seen in the following image, second to the right of Lando?

If so would you be able to port/upload it? I'd love to use it in my mod. Sorry, I couldn't find a better image or a model that had been uploaded somewhere so that's the best way I can point out what I'm looking for.

Thanks,

General / SWBFGamers Unofficial Discord Server!
August 10, 2016, 08:57:23 AM
Hello all,

So about a month ago I discussed creating an SWBFGamers Discord Server. People were supportive of the idea, but Led would prefer to wait until it's out of BETA, or most importantly, can't be hosted on a dedicated machine through the browser (he has been unable to install Discord at this time).
Whilst we wait for these issues to be fixed, I wanted to see how many people would join a Discord server and roughly how active it would be. Since I already run a Discord server, I thought I'd make an Unofficial SWBFGamers Discord server. I've spent the time today setting up the server, getting the permissions right and adding relevant voice and text channels. Some things are still being tested but it's stable enough for visitors.
You can either install the software (recommended) or run it in your browser. We already have set rules, based on the official forum rules and are planning more features if all goes well. As soon as you join you will automatically be promoted to "Recruit". I will deal with your rank whenever I'm available (usually around 10 - 12 hours a day, GMT). There's also a music BOT too. Feel free to join at any time, all are welcome!

Name: SWBFGamers Unofficial Discord
Invite Link (Permanent): https://discord.gg/p3xHFc8

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi all,

So I'm currently well underway with the development of my new map. I've just finished the Rebel's base and wanted to test it. The floor needs darkening and I still need to re-position the command post regions. I also need to change the skybox. However one major issue has happened that I have no clue as to why.

When I went to explore the rebel base, some object's rotations had reset, others would be re-positioned automatically and there would be ramps and other objects just sticking through the buildings. Hell, even the landing platforms had gone halfway across the map.

What have I done wrong? Is this a munging/cleaning issue? Or is this something I haven't done in the editor? In the editor it looks fine as if nothings wrong but in the game it's like Godzilla just demolished my map during the munging process.

I hope I've explained it well enough for others to understand my issue. I'd appreciate any help with this, I've been working for hours on this, luckily I tested it before adding more objects.

Thanks,
- TheGangstarTY

PS: The only error I've had during munging is the following:
"soundflmunge.exe : Warning : No files in file list BII01  - while munging C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder\DataBII01\Sound\worlds\BII01\BII01.asfx"

Hi all,

As some of you may know, I've recently been having trouble with Zero Editor's Runtime Error and BFBuilder's Munging issues. I am running on Windows 10 with an okay computer (specs listed below) and since ZE and BFB are both old programs, they don't exactly have a great time running on Windows 10. Now I recently fixed these issues found a work around for these issues, or at least I fixed ZE Runtime for me anyway.

PC Specs:
OS - Windows 10
PSU - EVGA NEX 750W
CPU - AMD FX6300 5.0 Black Edition
GPU - Sapphire Dual - X R9 270x
HDD - 1TB Seagate Barracuda (x2), 2TB Seagate Barracuda, 500 GB Hitachi Deckstar
RAM - 8GB Ballistix
MOBO - Gigabyte 970A - UD3P

Zero Editor "Runtime Error"

So first of all, how I got this was due to my upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had this error once on Windows 8.1 and then it fixed until the Windows 10 upgrade. Obviously Windows 10 has destroyed a lot of our favourite programs and I'm here to help with Zero Editor.

Quote from: TheGangstarTY on July 25, 2016, 10:18:36 AM
Phobos suggested using this path:
C:\BFBuilder

I tried that but it didn't work. Instead I just managed to fix my Zero Editor. I got the UPDATED version and moved the folder "BFBuilder" to "C:\LucasArts\" and then loaded up BFBuilder Pro.
When I attempted to edit my map at first, it came up with the same error. However, like what happened on Windows 8.1, the second attempt worked. I was then in Zero Editor. I decided to close it and then "Edit" again and it opened normally. I have no idea why this worked and why it didn't do this for Phobos' suggestion but apparently this works. I'm on Windows 10 Home Build by the way.

I'd recommend you download the latest version of BFBuilder too for this to work:
http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1219

So your bath should be:
C:\LucasArts\BFBuilder

That will hopefully fix your issue. I'd also recommend trying setting BFBuilder Pro and Zero Editor to "Run as Administrator" as sometimes that fixed it for me as well.

BFBuilder Munge Issues

Ok so this is a new one and I don't have an image for this either. However I recently discovered that BFBuilder doesn't work the best on Windows 10. It's something to do with Windows 10 and Batch files by the sounds of it. But besides the point, here's my issue:

Quote from: TheGangstarTY on July 27, 2016, 02:42:34 PM
I have already tried this but it doesn't seem to do anything  Any other ideas?

I found that munging in BBP tells me this error:
Could Not Find C:\BFBuilder\DataHothTest3\_BUILD_PC\Mungelog.txt
\NVIDIA was unexpected at this time.

I have AMD, not NVIDIA which confuses me.

Ascertes suggested this:

Quote from: Ascertes on July 27, 2016, 02:39:34 PM
When you open up Battlefront Builder Pro, hit File and select the dataMod ID that you're working with. You should then have a Munge and clean tab along the top of the BBP interface.

Now, let's go back to the step with the clean and munge batch files. Do those as explained in the guide. After that, hit the Clean then Munge button in the BBP interface. The whole thing will now compile, then you should have your AddOn folder with the lvl file inside.

I hope this make sense?

This didn't work, but may work for you guys. There's also Phobos' suggestion which was to use Bamdur's fix:

Quote from: Phobos on January 30, 2013, 12:36:57 PM
Alternatively there is always bamdurs registry hack method

save as a .reg file and run it
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront]
@=""
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\1.0]
"CD Key"=""

I did this and this somewhat helped, but still didn't fix the whole munging issue. The reason I suggest this still is if you have Star Wars Battlefront on a different drive to your C: you may have issues and this fixes those. However this still didn't help me 100%.

So how did I fix mine? Since I have a decent PC, I was able to use Oracle's VirtualBox to download Windows XP onto a small, 10 GB VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) on my computer. Alternatively, if you have a spare Windows XP PC, I'd recommend using that instead.
VirtualBox: https://www.virtualbox.org/

So once I was in, I installed the tools like usual and place the "BFBuilder" folder in "C:\LucasArts\" as usual (Pandemic recommends this as the default installation, however a lot of modders tend to put "BFBuilder" in "C:\") and then applied the registry fix.
I then went over to Breakdown's Modding Guide and went through the steps there to test if it works. To my luck, it munged properly and then created an AddOn folder with the edited files I made!

I would recommend these options for your Windows XP virtual machine:
At Minimum:
10 GB of VHD Space.
192 MB of RAM.

I would also recommend you choose a fitting resolution and put your Virtual Machine into full screen for the best experience.

This is not really a fix, like I said, it's more of a work-around. I don't think there really is a fix for munging on Windows 10. If it works on Windows 10 for you, great! If it doesn't, then you'll need a work-around rather than a fix. If someone does find a fix though that'd be awesome!

I hope this helped people, especially on the Zero Editor one since that seems to be a large search result in Google. I also hope that if you have BFBuilder Munging Issues this works for you too. If you need any help or have comments to make be sure to post them on this thread!

Thanks and have a great day!

Tech Support / Best Networking Hardware Vendors?
July 22, 2016, 10:06:22 AM
Hi all,

I'm looking into buying some more network related hardware. I'm new when it comes to network hardware vendors.

First off, who in your opinion is the best vendor? Why?

Secondly, is Netgear a good company for providing networking hardware. Are all of their products good? Are certain products good, and others bad which they provide?

I hope you guys can help me out here!

Thanks,

Hello all,

I was recently told that I could get my FPS higher whilst the TPS stays the same. I wanted to ask, how can I do this? I'm pretty tired of playing ICW6 at 40 TPS or 30 or whatever it is. I'd much prefer to increase my FPS beyond the server's TPS.

I hope someone could assist!

Thanks,

Hello all,

I've been really thinking about this over the past couple of months and I've been looking into it. I'm thinking about hosting a tournament for EA Star Wars Battlefront.

First off I'd like to begin by saying that I have discovered that yes, it is possible. There could be up to 4 admins on the match at once and 20 people on each team. This would equal up to 44 people in a full lobby. I would not expect to always hit the limit of players but if that were to happen it would be up to the clans to see to who stays and who goes.

As of now I am unsure how the tournament would be laid out but for experimental purposes I'm going with how the Intergalactic Clan Wars tournament is set up. We would ONLY use base maps so that everyone has a chance to play. If too many clans were to sign up, we would help pair clans up if too many want to participate. The game mode would be Walker Assault. I am still deciding on whether the teams would be selected by the attacker or defender, or if they're even going to be able to be selected by a clan at all.

So now that you have an idea on what it would be like, I'd like to hear from the clans' ideas of this and hear about what you players think. Would you prefer to play a different game mode, if so what one and why? Is there anything you'd like to be set out differently? Post ANY thoughts, comments and requests for this topic, I'd love to hear it! If this tournament happens, it would most likely have to happen next year.

I'm also looking for people who wouldn't mind helping organize it, admin for matches etc. I especially need to hear on what clans would possibly take part.

I hope this can become a reality and I'd love to hear from everyone! Just to mention, this is ONLY for the PC.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi all,

Recently I've been curious, is there a reason there's only 16 AI at the most on servers? Being in the EU in all, it gets pretty damn lonely on the servers and I never stick around much since have 16 or less AI is pretty boring. I'd prefer large scale battles.

I would prefer something around 32 AI per team. Maybe more if it was possible. But I'm just wondering if there's a reason as to why there's not so many AI units in the games.

I would happily host my own 24/7 dedicated server when I finish gathering the equipment required, however that could be a long time from now. If it's possible, could we increase the amount of AI?

Thanks,

Public Square / SWBFGamers Discord Server?
July 15, 2016, 08:28:37 AM
Hi all,

First off, I understand that something like this has been mentioned before. However the only response I've seen is something like "There's no point, we already have a TeamSpeak 3 Server." I would like to see an official SWBFGamers Discord server anyway and I'll explain why.

First of all, Discord is better on your Hardware. TeamSpeak's CPU and RAM usage alone is enough to prove my point. I do know that sometimes Discord's CPU usage tops TeamSpeak's CPU usage, however this can often be due to being in multiple servers at once and that for me isn't a problem, nor would it be a problem for those who also have a powerful CPU.

Then there's the overlay. God damn did I hate how buggy Overwolf's overlay was. Despite Discord's overlay being early and still having some issues on certain systems, it still beats Overwolf, TeamSpeak's poor excuse for an overlay. This overlay doesn't cover about a tenth of your screen either. Only about a hundredth, if that. Also, you can chose what games you want your overlay on, and what you don't want your overlay on. You can also easily switch between entire servers, let alone channels!

One of the biggest improvements is the addons and most importantly the BOTs. I own a Discord server of my own and I have about 11 BOTs in my server now! One that I programmed myself that does pretty much everything. A few admin BOTs. Some statistic tracking BOTs and some music bots. Then there's achievement BOTs, Wiki BOTs etc. The list goes on and the possibilities seem endless.

To finish off, there's the admin system. At first, I thought the Discord admin system was absolute garbage. However I now know that I was wrong. You can make it so only people with that specific role can join that server. For example, if there's a clan channel, take FC for example, ONLY members from FC can join that channel. No New Comers. No Regulars. Not even moderators if you don't want them to! Then you can make people admin/moderator for only certain servers. For example, moderators of the FC boards on swbfgamers can ONLY moderate the Voice Chat/Text Chat that their assigned to. For example, there can be "FC Member", "FC Moderator" and "FC Administrative" and the FC Administrative has full control over that Channel and the roles provided. Although outside of this Text/Voice channel, their permissions are useless. It's such a more secure system.

Might I add that the Text Chat is so much more improved. Having text channels separated from voice channels is a huge improvement. Especially having the ability to mute and unmute certain channels.

So why would this be relevant for SWBFGamers?

1. I love the TeamSpeak 3 server and all, but it's pretty much always empty. People that I've spoken to are much more prone to joining a Discord server than a TeamSpeak 3 server. The fact that you can join through a quick link and never have to put in that IP again, or never having to go through their bookmarks. They can just click really quickly.

2. A brilliant feature is how you can alter the server location in a matter of three clicks! Sometimes when the London server starts lagging, I'd just switch to US East until London goes back to normal again. And it's super easy!

3. Improved support. This is where some BOTs may come in. For example, on my server, I've programmed my BOT to respond to questions like "How do I play music?" or "What's the music command?" with a step by step guide, link to it's commands or to say where the user can find these. This could help someone even when an support officer of the server is offline. Also, there can be separate channels for support to stop the other channels from getting clogged up with questions.

4. Automatic admin system. Literally, how can this be bad? And no, it isn't going to be some "Robots fighting back" rubbish either. You can black list certain words in seconds. That way, when people come on raging and swearing for some reason, the BOT will just automatically remove the comment before a second passes and/or warn, kick or ban the user.

5. Better for clans. The clans in TeamSpeak 3 are password protected. Anyone who knows this password can join at any time, even after being dismissed from the clan. This requires a complete password switch and a message to pass around of the new password. Then you'd also ban them maybe to stop them from doing it again. But this way they can't even go near the channel if they don't have the role!

I could go on with the list but those in my opinion are the best reasons as to why we should add a TeamSpeak 3 server. Not to mention that more people would join and that it costs absolutely nothing! I hope to hear your opinions on this idea and would love to see this become a reality. I just don't see why there would be a point in not making a Discord server.

Do you guys agree with this or disagree? I'd love to hear your opinions!

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello all,

We've been hearing about this a lot now and I'm sure all of us who own the game have been excited by the rumours of such a feature. I found these screenshots quite interesting:

It could be clever photoshop however I still believe this could be true considering what the EA reps and devs have been saying. There's a bit of discussion about it on Reddit too:

What are your thoughts on this?

Hello all,

I'm looking to create my own lobbies to allow friends to join in SWBF 1. What port(s) do I need to open? I understand how to do it, and how to allow them through Firewall. I'm just wondering what ports there are that I need to open.

Or is there an option in-game or a way to choose which port you would like to use?

Thanks and have a great day!

Requests / EA Battlefront Maps to SWBF 1
July 03, 2016, 05:50:17 AM
Hello all,

I wanted to ask if it would be possible for someone to port EA Battlefront Maps such as Endor and Hoth onto Star Wars Battlefront 1. I really do enjoy the maps on there and feel that it would make a great addition to SWBF 1.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks,

Tech Support / Keyboard Space Bar Too Sensitive?
July 02, 2016, 03:29:58 PM
Hello all,

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? My keyboard is 7 months old now and it's only started happening today. When I press the space bar for more that 0.25 seconds (estimated) it does two spaces which can be annoying because sometimes it ends up like this:

My   space   bar  doesn't work very   well.

It's pretty irritating considering I have to go back and edit what I've typed afterwards. Does anyone have any idea on what this cause could be and/or ever had a similar issue?

Thanks,
- TheGangstarTY

EDIT: Ignore this, I left my BHOP script open from when I played Half-Life 2 Co-op earlier  If anyone else has this issue, check for any BHop scripts haha! My bad  :XD:
