Mods specifically for skins?

Been wanting to just play vanilla BF1 with different skins, both for each era and sides, any suggestions? I can't seem to find any.

To add onto this, I have another question.

Will the skin mods work in online play? I know the overhaul I have that improves everything about Battlefront 2 (skins, models, map graphics) works in multiplayer, but I'm unsure about other mods?
The years just fly past, don't they?

visual mods usually work with no problem in online play--but you will be the only one to see them, unless everyone has the mod.

The mods that would break on-line no-download required compatibility are those that would change damage or other effects--though if you are the host there are many more options.

Ahhhh! Okay! Thanks a lot Led, I've had issues with getting visual mods working in online games before, like I'd load into an online game and it'd just be the default models!

Just a question since you're an expert on this stuff, what makes it so that mods won't show up on multiplayer servers but regular skins will? Like if a game dev say gives a player a special skin that shows up for everyone, how is that possible but not when someone downloads a mod?

I am also curious on this, I do happen to have a few ideas as to why

1) My idea is that it has to do the files server-side, though I'm unsure if that is actually what it's about.

It's not possible for SWBF.  Everyone has to have it for everyone to see it.

There is the server and the player.  The player has the skins and map details, colors, etc.

The (dedicated) server has only the coordinates of the objects and communicates with the players to update locations of things that move.  Damage numbers are also maintained by the server.  So that is why you can change damage numbers for everyone by changing the server files, but skins and colors are player only.

If you make a mod and both player and server have it, then all is good and there are no (usual) problems.

We have a board just for looking into what things are server controlled:

and see this post in particular:

Been a while since it has been updated though.

I've also worked on getting an update for SWBF where everyone would download a lot of new units (new maps, weapons and skins).  In that case, the "dev" could unlock something for you, but really everyone already has it.

It will open up a lot more opportunities by the sounds of it!
