1.0 SWBF2 Getting closed ?
« on: November 11, 2013, 01:40:19 PM »
Ok so around 8:30 (10 mins ago), in absolutelly all SWBF2 1.0 servers, there was an Admin message spamming: UPGRADE TO 1.1 in 3 different languages.
Does anyone know anything ?

Here u got a pic:

Removed the pic cause it was traumatic (changed the pic name, and the new pic was a man dying)

Why not upgrade to 1.1? What are the differences? Besides being able to play amazing mods... ???

its not fun
ALL euro players play in 1.0 and now many wont upgrade and will just go
The differences is that 1.0 was the most played version (u can say all u want, ive had either versions since 1 year ago and i can compare it) and now, who knows whats gonna happen.
I just remind u that 1 year and 3 days ago, happened the SWBF1 gamespy master server shutdown...

I probably wouldn't like changes if they weren't what I was accustomed to either.

I should hope that if 1.0 goes, that at least 1.1 won't for a little bit longer..
We should really warn the BFII players, so they don't end up completely unaware and hit them in the face..

It would be crazy, but also neat to get some sort of openspy like thing for BFII (of course that would require building from scratch, since no one has done anything like that publicly yet), if the worse case scenario should happen..

No no, I meant warn them about ultimate shut down.. Eventually all the servers will be gone for good, which will be a memorable day indeed.

1.1 was mostly used for the ESL ladders. Back in the days, the main reason why people stayed on 1.0 was because of the little minimap bonus.
Patching your game is not a big deal.

I still don't understand why there is such a fuss over something a few pixels in size.. You'd think they would stay for awesome gameplay differences, or something. . . Monkey see monkey do I guess :P

Still don't see the big deal in upgrading to 1.1, and -RC- if we went to 1.1 servers going "The end is near, REPENT, REPENT, REPENT (to George Lucas) REPENT, REPENT", people would think we were either very drunk or currently in a mental hospitial

Yea what is the big deal with 1.0 and 1.1? Is it like a play style like how SWBFI's versions are different? ???

I think so.. There are lots of visual upgrade modifications that people just don't download for some random reason..
I don't understand why you wouldn't want better performance and visual quality, but some folks just don't want it.

Actually, I think it's just what people get used to. For instance, my mom has a 3rd-gen iPod Touch, and it still runs iOS 4.0 I believe, if not 3.0. We keep asking her to update to 5 or 6, but she persists against it. Why? Because she's familiarized with the layout, and doesn't want to upgrade.

As for 1.0 being closed down, this might actually expand SWBFII's community a bit, a little less of a divide if everyone's running 1.1 now. Then the only division in the community will be those with convo packs/1.3 update, and those with no mods/modmaps.

Shoot me a membergroup request if you want to join our Comic Team! :D
