Start up the  SWBF2SM.exe

(SM = server manager).

On that page, you will find a lot of options. Set them as you desire.  There are too many options on the pages for me to be able to explain them all, but the most important one is to set the hosting bandwidth to the highest possible and not the default (which is the lowest).

The next step is to choose a few maps and press start.

Now, just trying to be realistic in a friendly way:  If this server software is difficult to figure out, then you are probably not going to figure out how to set up port forwarding on your router.  We can help, but you will need to have more that a basic understanding of computers.  You will probably want someone to assist you at home.

Thank you, and I actually have a lot of experience with port forwarding (Minecraft and TeamSpeak Server).

First you need to know that this patch applies only the dedicated server software (the first link).  Install that first.
The default installation will be something like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II PC Server

inside that folder is a file called BattlefrontII.exe

rename that file to BatttlefrontII.original.exe

then take the patch called
BattlefrontII 1.5.exe

and place it in that location

then rename BattlefrontII 1.5.exe
to
BattlefrontII.exe

and start the dedicated server software.

Important note 1:  there is another method you can use with the steam game/original DVD installation that can create a dedicated server.  I can explain this method if you want to use it.

Important note 2:  no one will be able to connect to your game unless you have properly set port forwarding and any needed firewall permission

Let us know if we can assist.

Thank you, but I still have 1 issue, I don't know how to use the Dedicated Server Software...

You can host a dedicated server using your game disk/steam game or you can use the dedicated server software.

I will provide a link to the dedicated server software later when I find the right links (I will edit this post).
basic dedicated server software:  http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1390 (note:  requires patch for SWBFspy use)
SWBF2 server patch for SWBFspy:  http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1258

If you host from home (either method) you will need to portforward from your router to your hosting computer. (I will edit this post with the port numbers.)

Here is a discussion about port numbers:

The host computer will (of course) need to be left on all the time.  Usually, you can't also play with the host computer, but there is a trick that might work.

You can also rent a game server/computer, but I will only go into those details if you tell  me that you want to go with that option.

But how do I install the patch? I have downloaded and extracted the .rar file but I don't know what to do with it?
