Title: What would you like to see in EA's new Battlefront?
Post by: Roxas on June 13, 2013, 08:42:19 AM
I think having an advanced squad control system from Republic Commando would be great. Say I have three people following me, I can order them to focus on a single enemy (like a Droideka if I don't have a weapon to take down it's shields quickly). Also, I think it'd be awesome if they had a Droid Commando as a class. Hero's should have varying health/speed/power. And of course, maps from BF1 and 2.

What do you guys want?

1. Fully destructible maps.
2. Kit pickup
3. Keep the Jet Trooper, but give him a sniper rifle
4. Please. no COD/RC sniper rifle close quarter combat. It's fun for RC, but I don't want that to be the entire game.
5. Mines, keep the mines in the game.
6. More unit selection
7. Fire. What I mean by this, say you walk through a forest in a map, lay a mine, enemy trips on mine, mine blows up, starts fire rampaging through map.  :P
8. Kill the rolling, I want side skipping, like in RC
9. Custom map/skin maker.
10. Unit customization
11. An option to chat with your team instead of everyone.
12.

pretty much sums it up for me

i have a feeling the jets will make a re-appearance although im not a fan, i think they should at least nerf their guns.

i was kinda thinkin they should have three game types, giant battles, small swbf type skirmishes, and a more realistic star wars shooter (a few semit auto hand held blasters)

i would vote against the unit customization, storm troopers need to to be clean and all the same

If anything I would like it to be similar to the first 2 games. Command Posts and the like. I want very good single player modes that don't get old after 2 rounds. I want them to look at the first 2 games and see what was great about those.
I would love to see some or all of the SWBFI/SWBFII maps to make an appearance. I would probably buy the game just for the old maps.

But like I said above, it needs to feel like a Battlefront game. Not a Battlefield game. There is a difference.

Someone should send an e-mail to EA linking them to this thread. Make sure to mention that many people here have been playing Battlefront since 2004, that might make them want to at least look at it.

1. CloudCity and all the other SWBF1 maps
2. Class based
3. Buildings can be damaged/destroyed
4. 100+ player battles
5. Text chat
6. Ability to create mod maps
7. Everyone from here playing :)

What do i want to see? since its probably going to take up a lot of space, ill put it in spoilers.
First, i want to see EVERY single map from both swbf and swbfII, plus new maps

Secondly, iv got two more idea that are more of a either or.
Class gameplay. This is the kind of thing we all know and love. Its what make battlefront what it is. fairly self explanatory

However, another sort of thing i would like is customizable classes. Each person would be able to choose how each class for each side looks, and would be given 5 slots to do it (per side). a person can choose from any and every weapon available to that side.

Finally, matchmaking. when swbf came out matchmaking didn't exist. now it does. a series of maps are shown, and people vote on which map they want to play on. then, after the map is selected, they choose the era and then the mode. sometimes the mode is chosen with the map)
-Ability to run on a laptop with minimal requirements.
-Bring CC and Mos into the mappacks.
-Modding capability.
-Custom class loadouts (with limitations).
-Matchmaking availability.
-Ground/space battles.

That's pretty much all I hope for.

1. Complete HUD customization abilities.
2. A sort of online skin changer that everyone sees (like on SWRC), but you have to get kills to earn money, and buy things (like skins, or vehicles, reinforcements.. etc).
3. (Sort of a copy from above) A credit system (republic credits, bounty hunter missions).
4. A REAL bespin CC (SWBF's was nice, but it needs the "city in the sky" feel).
5. LOTS OF SPACE MAPS, online galactic conquest.
6. Buddy/Ignore system for online.
edit- 7. Full sized naboo, with the palace on a cliff and everything!

Post by: Phobos on June 13, 2013, 01:44:53 PM
basically id want it like bf1 gameplay, with better graphics and more features. some things i would hope to see most if not all of implemented:

multiplayer galactic conquest. this is very important imo and the feature i want to see implemented most.
ability to mod for free. im not gonna pay for skins crosshairs etc.
shotguns, more shotguns
ability to toggle game chat view on/off
more server host options
limit of 1000 mod maps in addon
ghost cam to follow other players
have more than 2 ai follow you at once. allow up to 16 AI to follow you around
up to 10 units selectable per side (with mods, does not have to be the default)
get over 255 kills without it restarting from 0
shots register better, less lag, hitbox synched to visual model
some customization for special units would be fun. allow to pick a primary (emp launcher or shotgun for example), and then a secondary weapons.
large scale battles where you start off in space and then fly down to surface to fight
support for many models, collisions, props, etc. being loaded at once. todays hardware can allow for massive epic battles online and in SP.
a third type of chat visible in game, for clan members only, like a clan chat sort of, or ingame VOIP.
several teams playable, like up to four factions fighting at once plus locals.
greatly enhanced classlabel support. things like autofire support for remote weapons. also 5+ weapons working online.
lots of maps for SP and campaigns. instead of 16 stock maps, lets have at least 64.
superior AI programming. make it so the AI can recognize a player as a CP and chase them around the entire map. make another difficulty even harder than hard, called insane.
lots of HUD customization, more awards, better stats tracking.
no (or minimal) jedi i want the game focus on shooting like bf1, not overpowered melee as in bf2.
ability to add water tiles on more than one horizontal axis.
greater map editor abilities, 3D AI pathing for maps.
Elevators, and hotels.
players automatically download mod maps from servers they dont have the map for.
huge tournaments wars etc
lots and lots (and lots) of aliens

i could go on and on listing more ideas i have so many but well just have to wait and see whats in store. even if this game is really great ill still play the original BF1 since it is my favorite game to mod

also another thing i hope they keep using LUA or something similar/better for letting hosts customize their servers better.

I think that part of the palace was actually made for SWBFII. I heard the models were created using blender.
I've seen REALLY nice simulations on Sketchup warehouse, but never in SWBFI :/
It is a must for this game.

For Christmas, I would like a SWBF that has the following things.

I'd like to see less rigid classes and a more robust inventory.
Start playing as a class, but still have the ability to change loadouts without having to respawn.
If a guy finds an rpg, he should be able to pick it up and use it if he has the ammo.

Player place-able/build-able/repairable/destructible:
-radar sensors for teams
-radar jammers for teams
-shields
-turrets
-vehicle repair depots/droids
-health depots/droids
-ammo dispenser/droids

Destructible everything (at least Mercenaries style, if not better.)

A useful medic class.

A useful heavy or tank class.

Better melee with variable damage instead of instant death.

Animals.  Star Wars has a ton of animals, the games only have the ones you can ride.  I want to see womp rats and mynochs.

NPC droids that move around and serve a purpose. (even if they just say "Oh Dear!" all the time, that would be something to shoot at.)

Fewer "Superman" all powerful Jedi, and more of the lame, not so good mediocre Jedi that would make up the bulk of their fighting forces.
Basicly zero focus on heros.  Make it all about the squad or team.

More dynamic space skirmishes.
-Capital ships that maneuver intelligently.
-Expanded boarding party options.

A difference between Ion and Blaster type damage.

Spotters for artillery, snipers, orbital strikes, ect..

Proceduraly generated (infinite) terrain.

Forward and rear command posts that actually have some sort of impact on gameplay other than as a spawn point. (enables or disables supporting artillery/radar, ect...)

Less focus on graphics, more focus on gameplay mechanics and balance.

Oh.. and jam it into a package that even old Luddites like me can run on an old XP machine. (most of the above already existed in a game from the 90's, so don't say it can't be done...)

Good luck with that, the Frostbite 2 engine that runs Battlefield 3 requires a minimum of DirectX 10 or 11. No DirectX9. Sorry, tirpider. :(

This, even though I have a DX11 card I really don't need all the special effects if it means I don't get to run at 60FPS.

I've gotten sick of all the modern shooters going around, so I'm no longer excited for this. Give me a platformer any day. (And that is coming from a guy who can beat any of his friends at any shooter.) If they can manage to make the gameplay be fair for a change I'll buy it. Otherwise I have effectively bailed on all the shooters I own.

Also no ground to space. I'm sorry, it is a gimmick nothing else the gameplay wouldn't really be all that fun.

Eh, seeing as how DICE has perfected the modern shooter, I could see them changing a few things with this around, as I'm thinking they might try and mix things up for this one specifically. Modern warfare is much different than the galactic scale battles Star Wars had.

As with ground to space, it would be a very catchy strategic option. For clans and armies alike, ground to space is like adding in that extra reinforcement or option of escape or regroup. Think about it, you could coordinate where your men are on the ground, and even work out the strategy for the land battle from above, as well as plan out how your men will attack the opponent's ship. In other words, it's like mixing real-time strategy with first-person shooter, I would definitely play that. Shame there's no games that have an RTS element in an FPS environment for PC.

Gold Man, you do realise I design stuff for games as a hobby right?

First off. With ground to space how many people do you think are going to use the fighters or bombers for taking out the enemy ship? Instead I think I would personally go down to the planet where there is a load of infantry fresh for killing. Even if they did focus on destroying the enemy ship once they had destroyed they would then shift their focus to killing the enemy infantry. Ask yourself, how much fun is it getting ripped to pieces by a ship's cannons.

Secondly, the gameplay is terrible unfair is these games. It becomes a matter of I see you first your dead. Wait, but I saw you first and I still died? Ah that was the beauty of the my level 50 perks. Yup, these games sure are perfected and well balanced.

Finally, good RTS-FPS hybrid? Ain't no better one than Urban Assault, it's dated and doesn't run properly on modern hardware. But man was it a great game. Shame a sequel never came.

Ok, ok, next time I'l make sure to speak my opinion and not quote your post. :P Didn't expect ya to rip it up like that.

Anyways, I see where you're going with the Level-up stuff, it can be a real pain in the butt in the modern shooters. Hoping however that the level-up crap does get dumbed down a bit, that way it would be more on a basis of skill than who has the most perks. Killlstreaks however I think would suit nicely, without the perks.

Anyways, thanks for the game titles, SK and tirpider, I'l be sure to look 'em up and see if they appeal to me.

No, it's a battlefrontII mod, incompatible with SWBFI.
Which is why I said there isn't any mod map like that for BFI.
That map is cool too though, it's definitely worth the download.

While ground-to-space seems great in theory, it fell apart in Elite Squadron and pretty much broke up the flow of gameplay.
However if done well... I guess it could work? What we really want is airborne vehicles above land-based maps again since they were so unfairly taken away from us, right?
Still the imagery of taking down a frigate or Star Destroyer from the ground is quite appealing.

Well, seems, most of good ideas was already posted, I may only say, it's cud be nice, if creators, made the game, based on SWBF1, with overhuge memory slots, totaly modable, and let the modders do the rest.

Still, I doubt it's ever may happens. Most likely, it will be the game, with usualy modern games mistakes, which ruin all the realistic, of modern graphic improvements, and which I realy hope, not to find out:

1. Screen, overloaded by blinking huds and reticules, when they no needed at all
2. No 3rd person view, or made it in RPG stile (high abowe camera).
3. Lots of no needed award effects or other arcade crazy things.
4. Unrealistic human animation and movement.

what i would like to see is the ships can fight in space and upper atmosphere of the planet, but you have to leave the ships to fight on the ground, or they cant attack infantry. tanks abd planes are OPed in BF1, id like to see some kind of balance in BF3.

A lot of you want a game based on SWBFI and I understand why, but I would rather have them base it on the Battlefront series. It just works better that way because SWBFII has some really great stuff, both games do and if they base Battlefront '15(?) (what do we call the new battlefront?) on the first 2 games we will still get a wonderful game.

Oh sorry. I knew it was for SWBFII but I assumed people had it installed. :slap:
I have never played the map because, from what I've seen it looks like a bridge map and those get boring real fast, unless done correctly (in short a way to flank the enemy)

What would I like to see? Well, given their stance on Single Player, I'd like DICE to implement Instant Action and Galactic Conquest modes for Single Player and not just a Campaign like they have done with the Battlefield series. Galactic Conquest should be something new. Instant Action... well, you all know how that works. I think with Next Gen consoles, AI would be vastly improved and we could have more than the 16 per team that the last generation could handle. Five or six unit choices per team would do, each with a unique unit or two to balance the gameplay a bit. Heroes, of course, are welcome. Space-to-ground is something I could do with or without. But the one thing I want above all else is to make those battles much more grand than the original games could muster.

I personally wouldn't want to see playable jedi, especially as a reward, as it just makes the best players better and puts the worst players even further behind but the more options for servers the better.
Also it's very unlikely in a modern game but I would like to see medpacks instead of the auto heal most games have now. I miss sneaking around with just a fraction of my health. :)

I'm with ya right there gdh, playable Jedi are the worst. They're extremely OP in SWBFII, and makes the best players look like noobs in my opinion.

As for medpacks, I would love to see those again. Having the last dot of health, 1 guy left, and if you die it's game over.

Personally, I'd like them to bring back CC in the game, just for a splash of nostalgia in the game. ;)

If anything though, you need to add the Z-6 rotary cannon to the classes, that gun by far is my favourite. :D

SWBF1 has SensorJam as a bonus in SP mode, perhaps that is what he is talking about.

Other games also have some sort of minimap "fog".

I personally wouldn't want to see playable jedi, especially as a reward, as it just makes the best players better and puts the worst players even further behind but the more options for servers the better.
Actually check your SWBFII game again. There is an option to award the worst player the hero.

I like Jedi, I usually do worse with them online so they aren't that great. But in singleplayer they are quite fun. If they don't have that I won't be too sad but I will be a little sad.

In a SWGO server I play in all the time they award the hero to the person that just killed a hero, I think that's pretty cool.

If it's the open public one that I've seen before, that servers a noobfest. I've always hated playing there, since the players use that Hero class to rack up kills and they generally become unstoppable. It doesn't really matter if your the worst or the best, regardless it makes any player online a noob. Wish they made the Jedi a little more balanced in SWBFII, like you could actually stand a chance against them rather than be force-pushed and then hacked up in an instant.

All I know is that it is called Jedi Battle Arena, there are always people on the server, Friendly Fire is off (yay), and people are generally nice. It's like the SWBFII PLA clan.

And I think you forget that Heroes can be turned off in all game modes. In multiplayer it is, of course, up to the host but in the server I play in it is very rare that you encounter a hero because they get killed so quickly from all the super good players.

I don't like playing online SWBF2 that much. Too many people abusing det packs. In the hero server, it's actually really fun to duke it out with melee only on top of the hanger.

How about real time battle damage?
So if you take a laser blast to your armour it'll show up as a scorched dent in real time!
But I still think blood is off limits...

Fully agreed, as blasters and lightsaber wounds only cauterize the wound, right? Or is it only the lightsaber wounds? Regardless though, blood is off limits, unless you're using a vibroblade/vibroknife, then I could see blood usage there.

Yea, I don't want blood in my Star Wars. They don't mix. Blasters and lightsabers cauterize the wound so there shouldn't be blood. I think we discussed this before but Star Wars is a PG, PG-13 movie and blood in most video games makes it "M." In my book that's rated "R."

Like with bf1, i want all of those things to be optional to modders. By default though I agree, no regen health except as an unlockable Galactic Conquest bonus. And blood should probably be disabled by default, but enable-able.

The blood isn't needed.

It's an extra detail that will limit the potential target audience, and the time spent making the effects for it could be spent polishing parts of the game that are fun.  (because blood isn't fun except in campy horror movies.)

I'd only want blood to be an option (disabled by default) if there was ability to mod sides and maps etc. like with swbf1. It helps for certain types of zombie mods I think.

It's different as a mod cause you decide. So enable-able would be good.

I can't think of a single SW movie battle that would have been better with blood though.
Even that one with the Gungans.

I think blood has been added to a lot of games just for the sake of it. I don't mind if it's to show you where someone's been hit but in some of my games it's chucked at the screen which seems pointless but like Phobos says it's good to have options.
If this is going to be more realistic then medpacks are the way to go. People don't magically heal they need their bandages and medicine in a convenient package. :)

Nah, screw the medpacks, bacta drops would be far better! Think about it, call in a bacta drop, drops a cargo container with enough bacta for about 10 troops. Or do what I saw with MAG (a PS3 MMOFPS), a healing injection on your man, so you can heal yourself on the go. Though that could possibly be used in a nooby fashion, I guess.

On healing:
In Tribes, you had a medic with a "repair gun" that shot a beam at the player/structure/vehicle to repair it.
It made sense(sorta) cause everyone was in mech-like armor. It was a fun way to do healing.

After seeing it in TF2, without armor, it feels wierd healing someone with a beam.

It's a fun gameplay mechanic and gives a real medic class something to actually do, but the metaphor is so off.
It could easily be played off like "it's a healing, you know, because space and scifi.. and stuff" but.. there has to be a better way to implement it.

The Jedi have it covered with the whole force heal thing, and the repair gun should be suitable for battle droids, but everyone else is stuck hunting down a medical droid.   Perhaps a new medical droid that hovers around the field? (Like a probe droid, but less kill-y.)

Or, you could have the field medic class with his ammo dispenser, but make it only so that the teammates can get the health/ammo pack, and not you nor the enemy. It seems like a plausible compromise, but then you would need someone else to give you the health/ammo.

Hmm, what's some way that you could implement healing in SWBF, without the troops having to hunt down a medical device, or have it displayed in an nooby fashion, and still relate to the technology in Star Wars...  :g:

Better yet, you have the ability to place down an "autoturrent" type weapon which shoots any enemies and if a friendly goes near it, it also heals you!

Mmm, I'm all for the placing of auto-turrets, but if you mean shoots enemies trying to heal, that doesn't seem Star Wars-like. I think maybe hunting down bacta will be the only way to settle the balance without health re-gen. Unless you include something like supplies of bacta needles around the map, in which case the player can stock up on bacta, and when in the heat of battle has limited healing supply for themselves/teammates. I guess that could technically work.

You know, between this and the Battlefront reveal trailer on Hoth I'm reminded of the Big Hoth mod map, which hugely expands hoth and adds tons more vehicles to it. I think if DICE makes maps similar to that, with more going on in the tunnels/structures on the map, and supports 64 players, this game will be unbelievably entertaining.

Pick up guns that people have dropped (have a persons weapons stay on the ground for like 30 seconds after they die). But keep the different classes to choose from before you spawn. Maybe customize the clothing of each class of troops, so everybody doesn't look the same. I'll have to start playing video games again when it comes out.

Title: Re: What would you like to see in EA's new Battlefront?
Post by: tirpider on June 28, 2013, 09:20:59 PM
I'd like to see events that happen in a previous battle affect the next, or at least determine what the next map will be.

For instance, if the Empire can't destroy the shield generator on Hoth, does that mean more Rebel reinforcements are able to escape and aid in the next encounter? Or did too many get killed defending it and so even though the day was won, then next battle is fought with fewer resources.

Or if the Empire captures and boards the Tantive IV, but is un able to capture Leia before she escapes to Hoth, does Alderaan become a more active part of the Alliance?

If the Battle of Endor is won by the Empire, what happens to the remains of the Rebel Fleet?

Perhaps there would be an inclusion of 3rd factions like the Hutts, or pirates, battling with or against the main factions to maintain control of a region.

I digress.. Basically each map or battle field should have a multitude of unique ways to be won or lost and the outcome should reflect in the next level/map.

Mostly single-player.
I don't play multi-player very often.

But since you bring it up, I would imagine some sort of built-in tournament management settings with persistent achievement buffs/nerfs (per team only, of course) would be cool.

In that way, league matches could be properly handicapped in the software instead of by handshake.

But, anything like that would have to be set up and maintained outside of the client environment.  If they go with another Gamespy server lobby thing, it would all get hosed when they inevitably drop support for it down the road.

MP should be easy and not rely on an unreliable 3rd party (imo.)

But like I said, I don't play online much, so I don't know what would be useful or fun in that regard.

They've already confirmed "grunt" AI for the game. (It's using Source... And that engine has some seriously advanced AI in it, they would be insane not to take advantage of it.) It is actually a really good design choice on there part because they said it gave the new players something to kill and earn points off with out having to kill the pro level 99s running about.

For some reason, the EA server (no, not the company, the SWBFII clan) for FFA|Duels was taken down.
They had a neat server mod where you can't use force powers (except for stamina, jump and combos), and it wasn't so bad.

I think the force run needs more stamina, and less speed.

The Battlefront games have very specific things like the more obvious things like Star Wars planets, characters and vehicles to the less obvious like Command Posts and a well balanced class based shooter. I don't like the create your own class.

I dunno, I think a mix of pre-set classes with your custom loadout option would be pretty cool. You would have the choice to use the classes, and even mix weapons up to have your own loadout. Perhaps though if they're going to implement all 4 factions, they should make it so you can create 4 different loadouts at least.

You mean sort of like what Elite Squadron did with its classes? Given that appearance is generally attached to class in the previous games (Squadron games not included) I wonder how this one would work. I personally don't want to see character customization if they get lazy about it like Rebellion did with the Squadron games.

I think it would be awesome to be able to buy weapons, and even build your own (kinda like building your own lightsaber).

Such thing would only make sense in Rebellion or Bounty hunter classes/eras though, because Trooper normally go under strict fundamentals in their armies.

This is why I think it would be dumb. Besides it would ruin the fairness of online play because people can make their own loadouts. And if that's in the game you know there will be ads all the time to "buy this guy" etc. And only the rich kids will buy all that stuff and there ya go. Online play ruined because they had custom classes. Singleplayer custom classes? Sure! That would be fun but keep it to singleplayer because the bots have no feelings toward not even getting a shot off. :P

Shiny stuff sells.
I used to do arcade work, and that was the first thing my boss (and friend) taught me.

If the machine has bulbs, make sure they all work.
If it's mirrored, polish it.
If it isn't reflective and shiny, modify it so that it is. (we replaced so much t-molding on old cabinets. even waxed and polished the sides of the machines.)

Carnivals and casinos use the same idea.
It seems that sudden flashes of light and reflective surfaces makes people throw money away.

Ahh good holiday...

If EA doesn't support the modders because of their weirdo paranoia (Come on, Valve has already proved that you can fully support modders and make a profit)
I'd like to see some diverse character customisation... but keeping with the SW feel, it would be easy for them to get carried away.

It would be nice to see them cover all of the maps featured in our beloved original game.

I agree with modding support, Valve is a true example of what modding can open up for games. Black Mesa: Source is a good example of that.

As for the character customization, it should let you choose a selection of what you can put on your character. Have specific pieces only available for certain eras, etc. The kind of customization I'm thinking of is uniform, like how ARC Troopers have a different appearance than regular clones, that kind of loadout stuff (and possibly weapons too).

As for rolling, I don't know a modern day shooter that doesn't have rolling implemented in the game. :P

Galactic Conquest (SWBFII style) Coop
Let me explain i want galactic conquest to be redone in the format of SWBF II but with the planetary bonuses of SBWF , but with coop , so lets say i'm playing with a friend we can then coordinate attacks from across the galaxy and be able to share income sources  much in the vein of a rts , think of the possiblities of a 2v2 galactic conquest game mode ( although i can see problems with players having to  stop playing and having to pick up later but that's what ai is for right ? ) .. also imagine having the ability to bombard a planet from orbit by say , buying a planetary laser upgrade ( which is very expensive ) and fighting on a changed map and the enemy has less unit reinforcements or something :D
That is all.

I agree. 17 maps in swbf1 is decent, but several maps get old fast, despite having been polished or refined. There really is only about 5 or 6 maps that most people enjoy playing online repetitively, (CC, Mos, Cit, Kamino, Jabba, there's others too, but these are the most popular).

They should have around 50 maps I think, all of the BF1 and BF2 maps improved plus more planets from other star wars games. I'd rather see 30 high-quality maps than 50 medium-quality maps. But they should aim for achieving both quality and quantity if they really want the game to feature an extensive variety of battle scenarios.

And I think they should include all the maps at initial release, instead of releasing in separate 'map packs' which players have to pay to download. I just don't like that business model approach esp. for PC games. I will buy the game if it looks good, but I don't plan on paying over and over again for 'extra features and new maps' as is commonly seen with other popular games. New additions should be free, but they probably won't be if they are looking to maximize profit.

No matter how many maps you add to a game, people will still be drawn to the most popular one.

In SWBF this is Cloud City.
In TF2 this is 2fort.

A quantity of maps doesn't mean you'll see them getting played. I would rather see only three high quality well designed maps rather than fifty poorly designed ones.

As for classes, I want to see them keep to Battlefield's count of four. It makes it easier for them to balance and create great gameplay when they don't have to factor in special classes of each side.

That's not my favorite SW book. That has to go to "Darth Plagueis". That book is amazing and makes you look at the prequel films in a whole new light. Oh I read Plagueis a very long time ago, right around the time it came out in fact. I remember Kit saying he wanted to read it.

Actually, something I would like to see would three factions - but you have the ability to play as the third faction, not just jawas or tusken raiders.

EA should really look at taking some elements from mods and incorporating them in the new game. The Dark Times mod is a good example, that had a few things that I liked.

edit:

Woah woah woah....there HAS to be an Old Republic era. There just HAS to be one! I would LOVE to fight on Dromund Kaas (I recently finished reading Revan).

Yes, that would be awesome.
Hopefully it will bring back a lot of people for online gaming.

I'd like it if they at least put some of these Songs/Tracks in BF3

I also think that in BF3 you can pickup a gun from a dead unit like in any great FPS

Personally i really like the star wars soundtracks. I would like them to put some compilation s of Mr.Williams work in the game, or i will be quite disappointed. (u could just mute the ingame music and play ur own music, those beats did sound pretty cool)

John Williams should compose the score for the game, mixing the classics (i.e. "Duel of the Fates", "Imperial March" etc.) with entirely new songs.

I will be very unhappy if it's not a 1st/3rd person game, because it's just not SWBF without 3rd person.

Off the top of my head, three things come to mind:

 • No player controlled Jedi/Sith. We all love them, and it's a blast to run around hacking the enemy to bits, but it honestly ruined the flow and idea of a game where you have two giant armies fighting against each other. Besides, if we look at things from a sheer numbers point of view, having Jedi/Sith in EVERY battle is just not possible. They are a limited resource.
 • Modifiable classes. The idea that soldiers don't have preferences to what they use/fight with is absurd. Not to mention, it helps draw the player into the game a little more.
 • 1st and 3rd person views. I for one always like the ability to quickly change which POV I was playing from. In the original games, certain classes were better suited for different views and it was nice to be able to change that up with a quick keystroke.

I agree with everything stated in your post, Yoda. However, it would be nice if perhaps they could have certain weapons suited for certain maps. Rockets should only be used in maps where there's vehicles, heavy-fire machine guns and sniper rifles for more long-range suited maps, and some standard rifles and pistols for more close quarters. Perhaps even a tactical vibroblade would be nice. :)

I'm taking into consideration however that Frostbite 3 will be using real-time elements in their map environments, meaning with enough explosive power you could take out a couple buildings. For example, using a rocket launcher in the narrow alleyways in Mos Eisley would definitely level some buildings demolished from the impact. Using sniper rifles in maps with a more run-n'-gun feel to them would be interesting I admit. However you might get gunned down with a standard rifle more than get kills in those maps, if you consider the game mechanics from SWBF compared to Battlefield are drastically different.

But who am I to judge? After all, this is what we want to see in SWBF, it's obvious not all of our suggestions will be implemented in the game.

Regarding Jedi and Sith.

I've always thought the "guns are bad" Jedi was just a terrible idea. It limits the Jedi to a "Knight in shinning armor" type of role that's just really lame (imo, of course,) and casts a completety nonsensical limitation on the Sith.

Give them guns and armor and make them hard to hit, but not impossible. Then dump hoards of them on the field at once.

The masters are limited in number because they are skilled/wise/whatever, but the lame up-and-comming lower ranks aren't going to be god-like combat monsters.

I'd like to see a better treatment of the Jedi. Not the fantastic hero's that became generals and had movies made about them, but the one's that haven't figured out basics like force jump, but are dead eyes with a hold out blaster. The scrappers. The ones that aren't "one with the force" yet.

And I want to see them in action. I want to see the Jedi / Mando battles, Battlefront style. No heroes, just tech and scrapping where cleverness and stratagy win the day, not OP one-hit-you-are-dead Heroes.

The beauty and appeal of Battle front is that it seen from the eyes of a common soldier. Heroes kill that. That's one of the reasons there is a split of BF1 and BF2 players. (There are other reasons, but that's one.)

If it's impossible to portray lower skilled Jedi/Sith, then Jedi/Sith trained militia that have commando fighting skills and maybe a force power. Nothing terribly useful though.

And more melee... any kind of melee. The blasters are cool, and are a nice change from the way over-played tactical modern war games. But some kind of melee would be nice.  At best, some groovy combo system of moves, but at minimum, some kind of basic unarmed combat would expand Battlefront a lot. Even if it's a stupid single punch. It would be more than we have and offer a new challenge.

(just really sick of heroes)

I think it would be to good to be true to have some new songs composed for the game. I always disliked the heros, but they made the game for some people. Maybe have a classic swbf game mode and a swbf2 game mode. (I do like the idea though mentioned above about changing the mechanics of the jedi. (I really enjoy swbf without jedi, but to many [like those rasied on the clone wars which will be a big aduiance for this game] jedi are starwars)

One thing I would love to see, is more realistic gameplay. In SWBF1/2 any class (exept dekas) can get into a vehicle. I would like only certain units to be able to use certain vehicles.

Also, when you start the game, you cannot change what unit you will be. So say I spawn as a rebel sniper, I must stay a rebel sniper the whole match.

I thought, why not limit how many respawn a player can have in a match? I think it would be great for there to be host changeable respawn limits in the servers.

Why not make units easier to kill, too? 2 sniper shots to the head to get a friggin kill? In real life 1 can make a kill almost anywhere. This would help their to be more camping, (I love games where every corner you are thinking you are about to die) which is more realistic than running around on a hallway 50 feet above the ground with I sniper rifle trying to get a headshot.

Interesting that you mention that. It looks like similar features to that just got announced for Killzone: Shadowfall. It's the first time I've heard of/seen a feature with that level of customization in match creation for multiplayer. There is definitely a possibility of it in Battlefront.

If you only had to hit one particular button over and over, you might get the sticky keys thing popping up. Which is extremely annoying. Also, if the game is over-complicated, then it makes it more fun, and ALOT less noobing. In SWBFII it is quite complicated for me to fight right after being on BFIs multiplayer, and I like it, it helps me when I go back to SWBFI.

What I'm trying to say, is that a little bit of over-complication wouldn't be bad (unless you just can't handle that much at one time, I understand, but it should be challenging.) Perhaps an option to change key controls after playing over 2-3 hours? (Not consecutively, of course..)

i still want BF3 to have all the customization like in Renegade or Elite Squad but have all the old guns in it to make a original BF unit like a BF1 Darkie (which is awesome) but also have more in-depth weapon selection like a choice between a DC full-auto Carbine or a DC semi-auto Rifle. And 1 last thing (I've been wanting this since BF1) A ACTUAL SHOTGUN!

Know your definitions.

scattergun

noun
firearm that is a double-barreled smoothbore shoulder weapon for firing shot at short ranges

shot·gun

noun

a smoothbore gun for firing small shot to kill birds and small quadrupeds, though often used with buckshot to kill larger animals.

An actual shotgun is designed for hunting. Are you sure you want a real one?

I understand and still think it'd be a bad idea.
The optimal unit to pick is determined not solely by the map, but instead is determined by situational awareness.  If you're restricted to one class, that'd mitigate this requirement of situational awareness.

I don't like the idea of limited classes at all.

I was hopping for an expansion of classes with the ability to customize your loadout at any moment during play. Like at a gear locker of some sort.

Staying the same class for the entire match .. may as well play space invaders at that point... 1 gun.. no choice.... blah

Some thing like SWRC customize option for multiplayer?
I think it would be really neat if you could add your own "Addons" like we can for the MSHs, but just place whatever type of file it is in a folder with the rest of the models that come with the game, and go back ingame and probably in some "PauseMenu" just click "Addon" and you can choose where to add it to on your unit/person. And on top of that, everyone else can see it even if they don't have the files on their PC.  To bad that would require a LARGE amount of data usage (not a problem for me, I have unlimited data).

Knowing how DICE/EA/Origin operates, they won't let their players have ANY access to the files at all. Even if you could access the files, you would be caught for having a modified file in your game in multiplayer, and with multiple attempts, your account would be suspended.

Nope.

Like being in the middle of a match and going up to an armory/gear locker sort of thing and picking your gear.
(With base class usability and weight taken into consideration, of course.)
Then continuing in the same match/map/game/whatever.

This would allow for individuals to change their role in the middle of a game to suit the situation (or to force one.)
The down side is if you get caught by the enemy while you are changing your loadout.. bad luck for sitting ducks.

It was happening in games back in the 90's, so the overhead for the game should be minimal at best.
I've seen footage of some newer games that have something like it, but they all require a respawn or have pre-defined loadouts.  Lame imo.  If a person wants to turtle around a map in heavy armor with nothing but a sniper rifle and a can opener, why not?

It would also give a practical reason for having hi res weapon models. So you have to actually look at your target to determine how to approach them, instead of a quick glance at their silhouette.

.......

Screaming.
I'd like EASWBF to have lots of battle cries. (and a volume control, just for them.)

I really like black ops 2 customizable classes along with 5 set classes to start out with. so you can start out with decent classes but as you gain skill and playfor a while build the bbest classes to suit your play style

I haven't read this whole thread btw so idk if anyone's mentioned these but-
rebels should bleed
maybe a melee
a rolling option
shooting while jumping
some maps with low gravity
a set xhair for each weapon like most new games just have a plus sign that grows or shrinks depending on that weapons accuracy but I'd rather have a different xhair for each weapon that stayed the same(I'd mod it if it's moddable)
a rocket launcher that owns like the swbf one unlike the lame realistic ones in cod that suck lol
cis should be specular

maybe something like scorestreaks to reward people for doing good like calling in airstrkes or controlling vehicles remotely stuff like that.. but a option to disable it for servers so. some. servers. could be strictly for fighting

I'd say swordplay (definitely melee) plays a huge role in Star Wars.

I always thought SW had a sort of swashbuckling/gunslinger/samurai type of theme.

Especially since Star Wars was heavily influenced by 'The Hidden Fortress' which is a Samurai swashbuckling gun toting adventure film.

Jedi with Lightsabers will most definitely be present, it's what fans just expect from a Star Wars action title.

Jedi with Lightsabers will most definitely be present, it's what fans just expect from a Star Wars action title.
I'll be disappointed if it doesn't have Jedi/Sith.

Actually yes. Jumping and shooting is exclusive to ONLY the Lego games. Sorry but if you want jumping and shooting you MUST get a Lego game. :P

I've seen 'special modifications' that will let you shoot and jump simultaneously..
And if you're really quick and nimble, you can pull it off without such dirty things.

Here's a melee Idea I thought up after watching NHL 2014's fight video.

How about, a hand to hand combat button? Say you walk up to your enemy, and you press the Y, or Triangle, or whatever, button. That button would trigger a "challenge" to your selected target. Then your enemy could press the same button, to accept it. After your enemy has accepted your challenge, you begin a close quarter, hand to hand fight. Using the control sticks, you could move, or duck. The weapons could be a pistol, hand, a body throw, and maybe knee kick. If you walked, say five feet, from your opponent, the fight would be over.

Imagine, your walking down the tight, cramped CC hallways. Guns firing, and on the front lines, people are being punched, to the left and right of you.

I can only imagine how epic it would be. You may have to have play an NHL game to get what I'm saying. But the idea in my head...             it would be so awesome for that to happen.

eh the whole pointof swbf is bbeing in middle of action and anyone can kill you at any time i don't like that idea it seems more like an rpgthing tto me. plus it's swbf not smack down vs raw.. by melee I meant hit with ur gun or something

It's featured in Jedi Knight 2.

How about... fully animated vehicle entering sequences when appropriate?

Such as when jumping onto a speeder bike, the character genuinely jumps onto said Speederbike. You know, like Grand Theft Auto.
It wouldn't work with vehicles such as AT-STs or TIE fighters...but maybe it would be nice for tanks, speeders and Star Fighters.

You can jump and shoot at same time with great timing. I've seen Nixo, Sirpimped, Majesty, Chili, Anyder do it. I can do it... just not when I'm fighting

Maybe instead of the fist to fist fight (which would be weird with a clove vs droid) have the assassination sequences like in Halo 4 where you sneak behind someone and hit a button and it triggers a assassination like pulling someone back and snap their neck or something to that effect.

You see clones in TCW rip droid heads off when they aren't hitting them with their guns. Also in TCW a SBD picks up a Clone and shoots him point blank. That could be cool (but gruesome). I want a rated "T" SWBFR. If it's "M" I might reconsider buying it because nothing in SW should be "M"/"R" material. (I think I went over this before. )

I would love those animations, personally. Though besides, SWRC was rated M in Germany, and SW1313 was going to be M-rated as well. Even then, I think EASWBF will most likely be M-rated, that's what every shooter seems to be rated nowadays. :P

Plus, it wouldn't affect me, by the time I can get it I'l be 17! :D

It's not that my age would affect if I could play it or not (I'm already 17), it's that I think it is better not to have that content unnecessarily.

SWBFR will be a SW game. Just imagine a SW film that is rated R. I can't. I think that LA would have overstepped their boundaries if they made 1313 M. Being a lifelong SW fan I can tell you that I will be disappointed if there is any M/R material produced by any company.

Assassinations? Assassinations would be fine in a small map with a few players.... It just seems ridiculous to me to have a sneak ability in a battlefield, one of the reasons I find the bothans in SWBF2 to be really odd in certain maps.

Keep SWBF as SWBF.

+1 I agree totally with Kit. I hope it's not unnecessarily gory like COD (just my opinion).

On the other hand, I would like to have some sort of melee action, but keep it Star Wars-y like GM was talking about.

cod isn't violent at all I think that'd be appropriate for swbf it's kind of arcadey. gears of war is super gorey it's cool for that game but not for swbf. hitting with gun like I said would be best for melee imo also. I like swbf fixed class system because it let's you master each weapon and everyone else is using the same thing as u. I really like black ops 2 custom classes but I change my mind I don't want it for swbf lol

I would most appreciate improved and more difficult AI, along with larger maps and server capacities. When playing as a stormtrooper, I want to feel like one tiny part of a giant machine, and I would like teamwork to be a large focus for the reboot.

Yes... I think each of the factions should play somewhat uniquely.
Rather than each team just playing exactly the same with different player models.

I think it would be nice to have a mechanic such as varied health between factions.
For example, Republic clones have more health than droids, but droids have a much shorter respawn time (or clones have a longer one)

I don't know, it would be extremely overpowered, and more than likely only one person would be able to use it at a time. Additionally, if it's canon, it would take almost an entire match's length to charge :P
Maybe a gamemode, Rebellion vs. Empire, where it's a timed match, and the Empire wins by defending the Death Star until it charges and the Rebels win by destroying it.

1. I disagree , as I myself made a copy of my own game that way I can play whenever I want and not need the disc. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the game wasn't even released on disc, except for a limited edition. As much as I like owning a physical copy, downloading is the future. Plus, many laptops these days are being made without optical drives. I expect some hard  :censored: drm, similar to Steam's level.

2. I just pray the system is better than Nexon.

3. Nice

4. A nice addition

5. Most definitely guaranteed. If not updates, then definitely dlc. I wonder what this will mean for mod maps...

6. Very high probability. I mean they can't have games without 64 player support.

7. CTF is already in swbf2 and you can easily do 1v1 by making a private server.

8. Ranks are also in swbf2. I am currently a captain for the sixteenth-hundred time or something.

9. I whole heartily agree with this. I also hope that they fix the chat from swbf2 by color coding team chat from normal chat like they did in the first game.

The PSP Vita was released in 2012! And 2014 isn't that far away. 2015 is when the new SWBF comes out.
that's not very long at all! :)

And even if that was a long time It would be a horrible decision to make a new vita, this one was a complete fail, (in terms of sales) I think.  ;)

I don't think Sony would make another one, portable consoles (like a 3DS) tend to appeal more to youngsters while home consoles (Like an Xbox360) appeal to older gamers. The Vita wasn't a good match for either side of video gaming people. So why would they try again? They might just lose more money.

This is just my opinion, and it's based off speculation. So please, do not attempt to burn down my house in anger. Thanks.  ;)

By "one", I mean another PSVita? Like a PSVita2.0 or something. :P

I admit, the portable consoles are more for the younger generation, and the consoles appeal more to the older gamers, which explains the numerous M-rated titles. I guess if they did try again, they would be going out on a limb hoping for more money that way.

And who says I'd attempt to burn just your house? :shady:

I agree with carbon. Hand held seems to be more for kids now. Older and more serious gamers seem to stick to pc/console, and if they happen to be on the go they might play something on their smartphone. I think the smartphone and tablets have made serious hand held gaming obsolete. Just my opinion though. (My house is also on the please dont burn list)

Some new ideas I had:

Since a lot of you are split between it having character customization and regular classes, I thought maybe it could have BOTH! It could have a few basic classes (Soldier, sniper, heavy, etc.) and then a spot where you could make your OWN classes for each faction! (Including different appearances for each class)

An idea I had for a campaign mission: So great, Leia was rescued, but what about all the OTHER prisoners on the Death Star?!? Did the Rebels just let them all die when it got blown up? What if they didn't? Basically, you'd command a team of infiltrators and board the Death Star in the heat of battle, fight your way to the cell block to rescue the prisoners and race against time to escape! I think that would be EPIC.

If not for the reboot, maybe for the unity 3D game.

I've gotta feeling we aren't going to get such high amounts of customization with this one... but who knows?...

Well, i'm an optimist.  :P But keep in in mind that most modern hard drives are much bigger.  ;)

Indeed, but in the same we're still likely going to be limited. It's just how things roll. I'll bet as time progresses we'll get our custom options in the form of purchased DLC packages.

Well, I was watching some of the leaked gameplay videos of Free Radical's Battlefront 3 (which would have been for the previous console generation) and it looked like you could make your own classes. Maybe DICE's version will have something similar. Though i'd be ok with regular classes and DLC classes (if they're cheap or have a lot of other stuff with them).  And as I said earlier, that might be an idea for you guys working on the unity 3D project.

I would like to see both SWBF1 and SWBF2 maps in SWBF3, i would also like to be able to jump by hitting the space bar and roll and jet jump by hitting the space bar after you are hitting which way you want to jump, and rolling hit space before you hit the key for the direction to roll in and hit space 2 times fast to jump and jetI would love to also see some new maps and characters, and acutally be able to do a space battle against the empire and the deathstar vs the rebels, same way as if it was clones vs droid except droids would have control of the deathstar, i would also like more battles in the death stars*, and beable to fly though the deathstar, and blow up the core of the deathstar, that and i'd like to fly the trench run of the first deathstar!!, plus i'd really like to fly a b wing or a v19 turrant i think it is, also i would like to battle using the tie crawler!!! that'd be so cool!!!!, i'd like to maybe also see some new weapons, and more choices of weapons to use while still keeping the original weapons from swbf1 and swbf2.

Sorry, about the grammar mess, I had lot to type in a little amount of time, and i am not good at typing or at some puncuations

There was the campaign mission in SWBF2 concerning the failed Death Star prison break...

But what about the innumerable contractors and civilians that must have been on the Death Star at the time?

I'm pretty sure that took place before the Battle of Yavin, during which this would take place.

And yeah, there were TONS of prisoners on the Death Star, what about them?

I'm seeing a worrying trend of games that are multiplayer more and more shafting the single player. One key example is Titanfall which as I understand it doesn't have single player at all. I want this game to be both single and multiplayer. I don't care if Multiplayer has some extra things: more units on the map, access to certain modes like CTF, but I reiterate that some form of Instant Action must be included. If not that, then a Galactic Conquest mode that allows single players to play against the computer.

Bring back split-screen.

What ever happened to playing against people in the same room?
You know, real people. You see them all the time in that outside place.

Lol. So true!

EDIT
Some new ideas:

Injuries: Basically, have a "Low Health" animation that slows the unit down and decreases their accuracy.

Bonus Ships: Another addition to GC, add ships with special abilities to your fleets. (Like the Eclipse SSD, Malevolence, etc.)

Blockades: for GC, Self explanatory.

Bring back planetary bonuses and superweapons from SWBF1.

Real weather effects.

Destroying capital ship Hardpoints will have lasting effects on the battle.

Agreed, to all of these.

I would love for there to be weather effects, it just add to the realism in the map. Especially Hoth. Could you imagine trying to snipe the enemy in the midst of a blizzard?

A limping/injured animation and actual impediment would be pretty cool. Though it also makes it easier for the enemy to pin that you don't have much health left, and that a few shots from a blaster pistol should finish ya off.

As for destroying hardpoints, I could see that happening. It would be a pain in the butt if the enemy could always patch them up once they were destroyed. But then again, they may add that with repairable hardpoints (like SWBFII had).

I don't recall if I have posted in this thread already or not, but the main thing I am looking for (after 3rd person perspective  ;) ) is sustained replayability in multiplayer mode.

All the fancy stuff doesn't matter to me if the game play is not up to par.
