An edited clanflag for Alpha Clan, with varied effects to make it look awesome:

After being inspired by making Droideka's forum signature, I decided to edit some Spartan IV armor, and this is what I came up with as the final result:

Very very nice!, we should have started this stuff, a long time ago :O
I mean seriously, a small group of people, could create a brandnew game with all the highrez graphics able to be produced!...
Hmmmm, I can create 3D games/executables, maybe I should see if I can get a team, and we can all make a cool game together!

Well, I know I've been doing this a while in Alpha, though you probably haven't heard. I made my own little editing studio, titled "Gold Man Studios", I still have an album on the Alpha Clan Pics Site. Anyways, here's my new logo, be on the lookout for that watermark from now on when I make/edit photos. :D

Link to my album on the Alpha Clan Pics site:

http://alphaclanpics.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=13668096

NOTE: Some of the stuff I made then may not look like the stuff I make now, but it still is all good. :P

I actually use 3 varied apps on my iPad:

-PhotoWizardHD (for masking, blending, etc.) [$2.99 for HD, $1.99 for Regular]
-Phonto (for applying fonts to my photos) [FREE for both iDevices]
-Photoshop Express (I don't use it much anymore, but I still use it sometimes) [FREE for both iDevices]

Finally a Monster Hunter fan on the site! I've logged in at least 500 hours in MHTri... It's great.

I shall certainly be getting MH3G for the 3DS...

Love playing games where you beat huuuuge monsters. Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2 was amazing as well.

Here's another piece of artwork for Alpha Clan. This was originally intended for our SWBF2 Division, which hasn't quite kicked off:

Sorry if the image is big, it's just because when I intended on doing the pic, I had it on the Clan Pics site and it wasn't as big. :P

You should try Dark Souls, thats got some good monsters but it's also known as being one of the hardest modern games which is why I've given up after about 20 hours. :)

Again, sorry if they are big, I intended to use them on a site and thought they would be smaller.

Figured I would bump this topic up, since it's been a while since anyone posted artwork. Here's a new battalion logo for Alpha's battalion, A.K., the Assault Kings.

Again, sorry for large size, the pics usually get resized when my "clients" as I like to call them, use them for profile pics, etc.

-Photoshop Express (I don't use it much anymore, but I still use it sometimes) [FREE for both iDevices]
-Photoshop Touch (Still getting used to it, but it has good stuff too) [$9.99 for only iPad 2 and up with iOS 5.1.1 or higher)

Here's some stuff I've been working on.
1. A logo for a church youth group activity I made.
2. I re-skied this castle picture. (ALOT harder than it looks.)
Edit: I also reskinned the water for #2

Looks good, I like the castle photo. Perhaps a few things to touch-up on though:

1. The water's "pale blue" near the castle does not match the dark sky overhead.
2. The water further out should also be contrasted a bit to blend well with the photo.

Other than that, nice work! :D

Nice work, Ultimo! :D

Also, another work I decided to do, this was mainly what I came up with in Photoshop Touch, after toying around with some of the effects, I ended up with something like this for my new look on the Gold Man Studios website. However, due to Weebly and their incompatibility with Apple products, and that I will be super busy the next few weeks, I won't be posting this on my website until at least a month or two from now. :P

Alright, I made two designs for ya, pick which one ya like:

Also, to insert an image, French, you would need to use the image button, which is this one: (https://www.swbfgamers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FqGIAD4n.jpg&hash=1333e1d1a1864bb8e43213dc7e82af7eb85ab8af) to put the BBCode  up. Then, you insert the link to the image directly between [ img] and [/ img] (without the spaces from the bracket and the img). I would use imgur, since when you click on the image you instantly get the image and it's link. If you want tho, I can just upload the pics to imgur and you can insert the links instead. :P

Title: Re: General- ART Gallery
Post by: Gold Man on February 10, 2013, 07:00:39 PM
What you're doing is placing the image in your forum sig properly with the forums code. Example:

[ img]http://i.imgur.com/tOtPjPw.jpg[/ img]

Now take out the spaces, and you get this:

EDIT: If it's possible, could someone please move all posts up to French's post after Unit's pic to the requests forum? I don't want this whole chat to take up some room on the Art Gallery thread.

No prob, French. :D

Anyways, figure I would put something up. This is a World War 1 Poster that I made for history class. (It's not an official project, but she did mention of it, so I made a poster just in-case. :P

I also tried my hand with some gradience in Photoshop, here's a new logo I was working for Alpha Clan.

I don't know what to make of ya, Unit. You seem like a mix between a modern artist, and a superb photograhper!

Either way, nice work. I would try my hand with drawing, but I can never seem to get the shading down right, let alone draw much of anything really well (I have shaky hands anyway). :P

Gee thanks!

In terms of illustration you should try a whole bunch of mark-making equipment until you find the one that's best for you... for example; biros, graphic pens, oil paint, ink... I even know one lass who draws in melted chocolate.

You're in luck, I keep an extra copy or 2 of it stored on my Camera Roll. ;)

I would upload the original print, but the file-size is too big to upload onto one post. So, here's my makeshift of it. Forgive me if it looks bit tightened, though the original was much bigger, and I had to reduce the size to 1024x768.

Hmm, it's interesting...

If you wanted to make it better, I would recommend blending the letters into the texture. I'm not sure if it's possible with your software, but how I do it is I usually type out the lettering in Phonto, go to PhotoWizard, mask out the lettering, and then save it as a .PNG so it is transparent for the background, but the lettering remains. Then, I go to my Blend option, insert the .PNG file I made, and then select "Overlay" for the effect. Then done, the lettering will appear overlapped on the image, save as your regular format (it's always .JPG for me), and you're finished.

Sorry if I over-complicated the instructions on that part. :P

I have a tendency to make things sound harder than they are. For me it's pretty fast, depending if the colours are solid enough for PhotoWizard to pick up and not mask. :P

Yesh, the Style builders will let you customize the looks of things in a million ways...
I created my own work base template that I use to make SWBF models alot, and another for personal use.
You can add watermarks (several infact, and you can use them for more than just that), change lighting conditions, change 'floor' and 'sky' backgrounds (with colors, or photos from your PC(which doesn't add lag btw))
And alot more...

And now, with the 3D animation plugin...
Heck, you could make a new version of TCW with that thing =O

Well, I got Sketchup the other day. Just started toying around with some of the stuff. In short, I made my first ever attempt at making a good titlecard in Sketchup, here's the result.

Title: Re: General- ART Gallery

Believe it or not, you are actually doing better than most people I've seen start out wit Sketchup, they can draw a box and thats about it...

But remember, for making the really good art from it, practice scaling, and rotating your objects (especially guns or car models, those can be tricky), and then apply the style that matches the particular scene best.

Glad you like Norris! :D I just figured your avatar needed something more. :P

Anyways, I was bored today, and having heard of SWBF2's Mass Effect: Unification mod, I couldn't help but make a sort of "title card" for the mod, as I didn't see one already.

The hardest thing for me about the title card was the "unification" part on the bottom. I spent a good 30 mins or so trying to get the gradience to match up to the Mass Effect title.

Dang that's sweet! How did you do it?

With photoshop and a tablet. I still have the photoshop file and most of my process lol. I reduced the actual size to not take up so much damn space on this post.

First I started out with a thumbnail - a very rough idea of where things are gonna be and what the silhouette will be like:

Then I make a little cleaner and detailed rough over it while adding and removing some things to it/from it:

I repeat the process and get a cleaner one over that, I have to be sure of the details of it and keeping mind of the gesture :D

I decided to stretch the figure and move him a bit

Now I don't know where I messed up, but I was suppose to darken the figure and erase dark parts to match the lighting coming out of the lightsaber, but I messed up somewhere. I lost that part of the process but I made a quick recreation of what happened. I added a background in, I think.

Then I colored it from there and clean up a lot of the sketchy lines while making slight adjustments - I lowered the belt buckle and moved the arm back a bit:

I darkened the places not exposed to the light, giving it a three dimensional look and added a red tint over it to match the lightsaber color and I'm done. :D

Tablets are quite difficult initially, it is hard to get your head around not looking directly at what you are drawing.
A bit of practise sets that straight. Plus they are way more comfortable for me to use, and then there's stuff like pressure sensitive lines and all those magical features.

EDIT: I suppose I haven't shared anything in a while. Here is a really quick thing I did in the last hour or so.
(45 minutes for the biro drawing, 15 for the speed painting in Photoshop to add colouration)
I was really tempted to make it a .gif and have something jump out from the darkness.

Yes, it gets very awkward having to look away from where you're drawing, but you definitely get used to it - it just takes some time. Since my computer failed, I got stuck using my laptop and really it's a little more comfortable XD

I have my tablet right next to the laptop as i sit in front of it, and my wrist feels better than when I was using my desktop... still need to get a new one...

Also, I tinkered with my Revan thing a bit on photoshop and came out with this:

(https://www.swbfgamers.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffc01.deviantart.net%2Ffs70%2Fi%2F2013%2F122%2Ff%2Ff%2Frevan__revised__by_lich_that_lurks-d63v1kp.jpg&hash=672eea0d9616a313e62113a29aa79de40b33fb79)

I'm very satisfied with it :D

At one point I turned off a few of the layers while making this and I ended up with this:

Creepy... but I could make something out of this o.0

I thought I might draw a few of the chaps featured in the mod and put it together into a single promotional image... a bit like one of those 70s film posters.

There's nothing wrong  with watching cartoons, to prevent a creative block you just need a balance of input. Right?

I thought I might draw a few of the chaps featured in the mod and put it together into a single promotional image... a bit like one of those 70s film posters.

There's nothing wrong  with watching cartoons, to prevent a creative block you just need a balance of input. Right?

Sounds like a cool idea, Unit, can't wait to see it!

And about that balance of input, hehe... Ever since some of my favourite cartoons went off the air, I've been stuck to watching older shows and burning through them in a matter of days. After I'm done watching my latest series (6teen), then I should be good.

EDIT: Done watching 6teen! (I only had 3 episodes left, but the ending is very sad... :'( ) Anyways, hopefully I can balance myself out now, ever since my favourite DC Comics shows left CN, I was hunting down older cartoons that I hadn't seen and started watching them (it ruins the suspense and longevity of a series if you can simply find the episodes and watch them all). But hey, enough of my cartoon chatter, I'l probably repost or update this post if I get some good ideas flowing.

Eh, I guess I'l upload something before my exams start on Monday. Here's the Science Magazine cover I had to make for my final assignment in Science.

I'm aware the images in the ground may not exactly be resized to their proper scales, but I did make it for Science.

Also, sorry if the Editorial description offends anyone. If Buckler/any moderator wants it taken down, I'l replace it with something else.

Here's a quick look at the in-progress high resolution Wallpaper for The SWBFGamers: Battle Royale mod.

To do:
1. Add color
2. Add Background imagery
3.Arrange the group aesthetically
4. ?
8. Profit!

Well yeah.

Tracing was used at this drafting stage, because I couldn't be bothered drawing 15 individual poses.

Obviously in the poses they are in now won't allow them to fit together correctly into a group-photo arrangement, so it will be distinctively more original by the final design.

So yeah, this drawing is essentially a guide to use when drawing the final piece.

Good to know, because I would like to point out my character won't be a recoloured HK-47. Look at my request thread to see what character I had in mind.

Uh yeah... about that...
That second skin did not go well at all so we sort of abandoned it and returned to the HK-47... which looks great!

Oh I see him! I didn't recognize him due to your fabulous artistic license! That picture is very, VERY cool. I never knew that SWBF characters could look so cool! I really like your style, it's like a fun version of Star Wars drawings. My favorite characters you drew are all the guys with the stormtrooper armor, your character in the mod and now that I recognize the SWBFII engineer I'm really digging it. :)

Ya know what would be awesome to see you draw, a duel between 2 characters in SWBF on a SWBF map. That would probably take a while but it would look amazing! After this cool picture is done though.

I only used 1 ingame screen shot, and that is for the troopers (they weren't released as assets, so I couldn't apply my own animation to make it look like they're pushing colorful buttons..)

The Hoth background is an ingame screenshot on SWTOR, the MSH for the console as manipulated a billion times, and tinted to fit the world ambient color, and the room was a screenshot in MSH viewer as well.
-- Things that it needs: Shadow, contrast in the hologram window for the console (yes, I realize in the movie it was really glass.) Different storm trooper folk.

Looking good so far, invest in those lighting effects and it'll look super-groovy.
Be careful in the palette usage, so that it continues to look genuine. It took me a couple of moments to not realise that it wasnae just a screenie.

I guess I'm way overdue to post here, but what the hey. I recently made both of these images today, so I figured why not.

The first image is a portrait photo of me that I had taken back in 2011 when my family went up to Newfoundland to attend my cousin's wedding. I had used filters on it lots in the past, and decided to use more colours than black and white and sepia this time around. The effect I really made myself, and then later used Phonto to add the text.

The second image is actually school-related. This is the flag that I had planned on making for our tribe yesterday in English (we're reading Lord of The Flies, and our teacher split us up in two tribes), however I didn't get time to fully create it. So today I made it and showed my classmates, and they liked it. I plan on printing it out over the weekend to use as our official flag for Monday.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy!

(P.S: There's a subtle reference in the flag, see if you can catch it. ;))

This was something I whooped up a while back when I was bored. I think the title itself sounds like a pretty good mob name or whatever. :P

Nice work, CC. Unfortunately your naming of the font made me go on a font downloading spree (dafont has such awesome fonts).

Regardless, it's very well done, looks like it could be used for an indie game, eh? :P

I've noticed you really love the "rain" effect in your works. Tell me, how do you get it to work? I know it's a GIF, but how do you get the drops to appear like that?

Hmm, I'm trying to mimic the process in Photoshop Touch (I don't have the money to download actual Photoshop :P), however I've run into a slight problem. I've gotten up to the 4 layers with motion blur, but I'm not sure what those buttons are supposed to symbolize in the directions. I was planning on simply putting them in a GIF maker, but I don't know what to do, or if I can pull off this effect in Photoshop Touch. Perhaps you could help me out here, Unit?

I do not know the finer point of Photoshop touch, however a gif maker will suffice.
Superimpose those separate rain images you have created onto the frames that you will run through gif-maker and hey-presto.

I used all those frames, the problem is I don't know what to do after I have all 5 layers with their added effects. It says to open up the animator and mix them in somehow, but unfortunately PS Touch doesn't have an animator with it's software. So I had to use a GIF maker instead, but even then it doesn't work right.

The times I wish Photoshop was $10, instead of $100.

Ah, you watch Revolution I take it? My parents do too, and I've watched it here and there. It's a good show, but there's just something about me and reality shows that I just can't seem to follow them constantly on. In any case, nice banners too. :D

Also, you're trying to build with Unity 3D? Cool man! I myself am learning C# in Computer Science 12. :D (I know those two may not have any similarities, but I myself have been thinking of working with either the Unreal engine, or the Unity engine.  Any thoughts as to either engine's difficulty, RC?)

That's true, .jpg doesn't do transparents. .png does though. :P

I realize my mistake in image formatting, a serious duh :facedesk: (btw, the :facedesk: is totally original, and also needs an emoticon to go with :P)
--
And actually GM, if you look back through a few of the earlier posts I made, "Revolution" is actually a series my friends and I are doing (haven't started filming, just setting up animation studio- and writers aren't finished with first few episodes yet) through this next summer.

I started messing with Unity only a few weeks back, and very much love it. Having a troubled experience with other engines (if you can honestly call GameMaker a 3d engine..), I decided to move to something a little further than novice, and wound up using Unity as it is VERY intuitive and straight forward (as well as completely custom).

I've messed with Unreal engine before when attempting to mod SWRC, and I must say it is nice, but not exactly for beginners. I don't think I'll ever touch that engine again, it's just too complex for my needs.

I'm no expert, but I'd definitely go with Unity if you are going to do anything with game dev at all. (it has brilliant 2d setup as well, if you are looking for that).

Unity can utilize lots of scripts, but the two I've noticed the most are C Sharp and Java Script, which are very alike in my opinion. (Unity also comes with Mono Develop, which can edit those script types)

That's good stuff.. I purpose that a series of most exceptional cover/posters like this be made for the project. It would help with moral while working (that and music is what makes me tick, I imagine lots of folks are the same)

It's funny, because I've always thought that extremely complex things were the most beautiful, but alas I was dead wrong. It's all just about how you arrange the art.. You nailed it with that one.

'Dirty' Collage / Digital Paint job.

Collage is a great way to compose an image, and in no less valuable than a scratch-drawing.
But it's mainly used to push ideas around or as reference for a later piece of work.

What I did here was vaguely trace a bunch of rocks, throw some textures around and paint in the rest, it's mainly about speed rather than quality. Try it out for kicks.

Awesome!  I love your Tony drawing.  What is he suppose to be btw?  A fox?  You should make him into a legit character or something, almost like a comic strip!

One more for you.  I think this one says, "I'm gonna murder you." LOL :D

Tony? Hah man he goes way back. Don't know if you were ever familiar with Flipnote Hatena, but Tony was a character I started drawing back then under the name Surge. He's not a fox, infact I'm not sure what he is, but he's been my friend in drawings for years now. I've drawn him so many different ways, but what you see as my Avatar is my favorite. As a story concept, he's a sorta pet to one of my human characters, Elijah (I'll draw him later so look out for the post with him). I haven't really gone deeper with stories but I like the idea. Thanks!

AFNOR ( french part of the ISO ) call it demi-raisin.
A raisin format is 50 × 65 cm, this one is ~ 50 × 32 cm since I cut it manually.

To give you an idea, raisin format fits in this bag :

I was just thinking of the intro to some show or movie or something in that class. (Now that I think of it, it may have been the intro to Mouse Hunt, with all of those strings, or the crime drama Silk.) Anyways, I was just trying to have fun with the word "stick" (since it's part of my last name), and the images I made there just sort of came to fruition for me.

This particular image has been made in Illustrator, but it's based on a day's worth of sketchbook work.
Eventually I'll take it over to photoshop to add texture, because it's still quite flat.

Generally I avoid working 100% in digital because it melts my brain.

Ryan's post is in the wrong thread, but gdh92 shared images of a shed he'd built... so art (at least in this thread) isn't limited to drawings. For instance, I think your cosplay would count, since it involves some form of artistry.
