Title: SWBF via GameRanger
Post by: Led on November 09, 2012, 04:27:33 AM
Hi,

edit:  GR server will no longer be up 24/7--only for Friday Game nights or special occasions.  Contact me if you want a server hosted.

I have set up a GameRanger server.  It has to be hosted with a disk (AFAIK) so I have to host it from home.
Fortunately, I can leave it up all the time, unless bandwidth becomes an issue.

Download Gameranger here:
http://www.gameranger.com/

It is a VLAN solution.  I am putting it up in hopes that people will try it and find SWBFgamers.com.

Download, install, verify account.  It will detect games installed on your computer and show you the servers for them.  Find the PLA-SWBFgamers server and join  the lobby room.  You can chat there.  Hit "join" on the right side somewhere and it will auto start your game.

Note that it will automatically take your first profile name.  You can quit the game, restart it manually, and choose another profile.  Then select LAN instead of INTERNET profile. Click join and select the server.  Unfortunately, it does not appear that MAC and PC can join the same server at this time.  I will investigate a fix for that.

Is there any way to unlock the framerate to normal, and/or to play windowed from Gameranger?

I think these are things u just have to add in ur battlefront.exe shortcut.
just put behind the : " /noframelock /nointro /win
No intro is just for skipping it.

Yes that works when you start from the shortcut, but not from gameranger, as it runs the exe itself when starting the game.

Let me look into it--there may be a gameranger launcher we can edit.

There are about 8 servers on tunngle--and i think the noframelock will work with them, since you start SWBF manually for tunngle.  So, you may want to try that :)

edit:  here is what you do with gameranger:
start gameranger
choose edit, options, choose starwars battlefront
where is says "location"  select the shortcut with your noframlock command in it instead of the battlefront.exe
