http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-04-free-radical-vs-the-monsters

I don't know if any of you guys have seen this, but I figured that it might make an impact on the community. This is a long and in-depth article about LucasArts and Free Radical, and the hidden story of the rise and fall of Battlefront III from a highly innovative game to largely a pile of junk, and LucasArts' effect on it.

I came away from this article disappointed. LucasArts hasn't put out anything good lately, and I think that it's largely because of their terrible business practices. I hope that one day, they will turn themselves around and become the publishing powerhouse they used to be - with games like KotOR, SWBF1, and Republic Commando.

Interested to hear you guys' thoughts.

Tech Support / Headset recommendations
December 29, 2010, 10:00:00 PM
Hey guys!

I'm looking for a headset, since my Koss PortaPro headphones' wires are on the verge of snapping in half, and I would prefer to have a backup solution before having to resort completely to my in-ear headphones.

My requirements are thus: must be under $50 before shipping, must include a microphone, must have good review from you or from some major ecommerce site. Does not have to be USB or anything weird like that.

If, alternatively, you have a good set of headphones under $50, then please recommend it as well. I can always get a desktop microphone or just use my ghetto-rigged existing one, but I would prefer to purchase a straight headset.

Thanks!

Other Games / Minecraft
December 19, 2010, 05:54:17 PM
Who else has Minecraft here? I picked it up today since I wanted to get in on the alpha pricing.

If you have it, can someone give me some pointers? I get the basics but I don't really know how to do any of the advanced stuff that other people seem to be able to do.

Other Games / BioWare to announce new game at VGAs
November 17, 2010, 05:54:28 PM
As a BioWare fan, this news excites me tremendously. They will be announcing a new game December 11th at the VGAs on Spike.

You can see some info and the trailer here. Rumors are going around that it is a Shattered Steel reboot, but my personal opinion is that it's just Mass Effect 3 (though "just" Mass Effect 3 would be awesome to so many levels).

Post your thoughts here... this will have me watching the VGAs, even though they suck tremendous amounts!

Tech Support / Pages?
September 12, 2010, 12:18:51 PM
Does anyone here have Pages? It's a Mac program used for word processing and I need to convert a file that's in a .pages format.

If so, could you please shoot me a PM?

Tech Support / Computer Lockup
July 23, 2010, 04:11:35 PM
Hey tech experts-

I'm having some big problems with my Asus G73Jh.

The problem is that it will completely lock up on attempting to start any program. It freezes, and the screen stays stuck on whatever it was doing. Nothing will happen, and the computer goes noticeably quieter. The problem does not come about in Safe Mode, as I am able to launch Firefox and the like. I am thinking the issue is with the display drivers, so I installed the latest ones for the 5870M. Once installed, they did nothing to help solve the issue. If anything, the system worked better without them- no crashes then.

Programs that this has been experienced with are Trillian, Xfire, Steam, and Firefox 4.0. All of these have at one time or another caused the computer to go completely unresponsive.

I'm worried, because this is a very expensive laptop and I would hate to have it die on me. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

So, it's that time of the year again... time for another tournament!

This tournament is a little different than the last one- I went through the map archive and chose some of the maps that I had never played before or heard anyone play before. Along with some self promotion, I feel that the maps for this tournament are pretty well chosen, and I think that this tournament will be pretty fun, and hopefully full up with people.

So here's how it's going to go. This tournament is going to be scoring-based. Therefore, you will be graded on your performance and the player who does the best will be given the crown of "best player in the tournament". Teamkill will be off, so you can be more indiscriminate with your shootings. CPs are capturable.
Scoring works like this:

Kill = 1 point
Death = -.5 point
CP = 1.5 point (up to 4 CPs will be counted per match to make the tournament more kill focused)

Moving on to the essential information (click the map codes to download them):

Date: July 17th, 2010
Time: 3PM EST (that's 2PM CST, 1PM MST, Noon PST, 8PM GMT)
Maps: Eddie's Kastel (edk9)
Tranquan: Tech Centre (cto)
Clone Wars Space Map (CWSM)
Onderon: Dxun Moon (Neg2)
Tatooine: Jabba's Palace (tat3) (Buffer Map)
Location: Jedikiller's DC (IP will be released on the day before, Burning Sun if you ask me for the IP I will be very angry)
For Sharing: Use this link to direct people to this topic! Post it everywhere you can - we want this server to be full! Link: http://bit.ly/mpc-t2

I hope to see a full server and lots of killing being done! :P

Other Games / Which Steam games do you own?
June 22, 2010, 07:19:42 PM
Hey guys-

I'd like to do a quick survey of the games we all play here on MPC. Please check the boxes above for each game that you own. I'd like everyone to participate in this- it will likely dictate some directions we take in the near future.

If I forgot a game, please let me know.

Thanks!
