Seeing as the game launched today, I thought we should have a thread to discuss the new Battlefront. I'll start.

- The game is much better than EA BF1.
- The Clone Wars TV series inspired elements of the game are great.
- Starfighter assault and Blast are fun.
- Heroes vs Villains is alright but I preferred the BF1 mode instead of this "target" system.
- Galactic Assault is by far the best mode.
- It's a shame that DICE didn't carry over maps and modes from the last game. I'd love to try the old maps with the new gameplay and heroes.
- It's annoying that you can't yet select which map you want to play on.
- Sadly, the controversy about the loot boxes and the paywall seems to have detracted from an otherwise pretty good game. Hopefully EA will learn their lesson and keep them out of Battlefront III.

Overall, much better than the first one. I'd say it's a 7/10 game.

I haven't bought the game yet and am still on the fence about purchasing it after all the bad press and stuff i've been reading on reddit.  Encouraging that you think it is better than BF1.
I'm elated they added the clones to the game though!!  I played the BF1(EA) game religiously for over a year and had tons of fun with it.  I got some really cool videos of me playing on different maps.
Kind of neat cause i never really used the record feature on the xbox until this game. Got some cool(Lucky) one shot two kill sniper vids.
The only reason i would probably buy it is for the clone wars action.

It's a 7/10 from me as well.

A few things of note:

-The microtransactions aren't gone for good, sadly.
-The campaign is a bit hit-and-miss for me, particularly with the timeskip at the end.
-Despite some of its limitations (six maps, no large maps, no starfighter modes) Arcade is actually quite fun. The AI is competent to the point where I think an expansion of the mode is much easier to do than Skirmish was in the first game.
-Watch those wrist rockets!

All in all, this actually feels much more like Battlefront, and I think the gameplay is a lot more fun. It just need a bit extra to push it further.

I think it's good, but the campaign story line looks like another TFU knockoff to be honest, other than that, it's good.

Now that they've given a leg-up to all players by giving us all 'catch-up crates' and de-restricting the Star Card slots for the main classes, the game does actually play better. Not perfect: there's still the fact that some of the progression is still tied to the lootcrates, but I at least find some more enjoyment in this now.

As a small nitpick, I really don't like some of their sound choices. The CR2 is never fired onscreen so I can forgive that sound but the S5 is fired in the films - it's the gun Panaka uses in the final battle, and it makes a sound like the original games' Clone pistol. I have no idea where they got the sound they went with from. On the other hand, some of the sound design is really quite good - I just love the DLT-19D firing sound.

I can't forgive them for the A280 being different.
Perhaps it was OP in the last title, since nearly everyone used it. Pretty much an AK sorta gun.

I've been playing it on an off, it's generally a good game.

Yeah I really don't think progression is as bad as many painted it. I am yet to feel like I have been outplayed because someone had a hand of purple cards.

It's a lot more balanced than the the previous game, in which one were repeatedly killed by bacta-bombing, shield-popping maniacs.

My gripe with the A280 is more an issue with the model they used: they got the model for the A280 and A280C the wrong way around.

Oh absolutely! Don't get me started on the Death Trooper getting the wrong gun...

With the Introduction to tons of new mods appearing for the game, I personally have been playing the game a lot more!

This is the list of mods that I am currently using; Frosty Tool Suites released an update on Christmas Day that allowed all the modding community to start packing all of their mods into the game, I have some examples.

The CIS Overhaul Mod: Changes the textures of the Trade Federations ships and vehicles into their proper look, and popular look:

Then you have the Skin Selector Mod: This unlocks the hidden customisation option that is already built into the game which allows you to change your troopers skin: Twi'lek Specialist: (Works for both Rebellion and Resistance). 104th Wolfpack: (Works both in Phase 1 and Phase 2, other players can see you using these skins, so they will question you.)

Now then, I personally think with the mod community growing and more mods being developed, I wouldn't be surprised if EA tries putting a stop to it. But, mods have been known to keep games alive for longer than their set lifetimes! I've been using this skin selector skins online for the past 2 days and have not been banned, so I doubt EA/DICE will ban people for using these mods as the mod simply unlocks their own system that is already in the game but hidden.

I just hope mods continue to get developed and released and that DICE and EA doesn't do anything, I personally think that DICE would welcome it, but EA will probably be the people to put their foot down.
The years just fly past, don't they?

Arcade has been updated with today's patch to include a 'Blast'-type map for each current planet (including Crait). Pathing and AI have also been improved (AI will now take cover and sprint).

I really wish they'd add a Conquest mode because Galactic Assault is so boring and repetitive but the developers are being so stubborn about it. All those requests for Conquest and all we got was "Not sure if porting a particular ruleset is the way to go, we'll just make something else". And this is all after they said they'd listen to what the community wanted. :slap:

It's sad to say that I actually enjoyed the first EA Battlefront more than the second. Creating all these story-based/linear game modes was a terrible mistake, in my opinion. The only two game modes that I can really play for an extended amount of time are Blast and Heroes vs Villains, both of which are small-scale game modes. The 2015 game wasn't perfect at all but at least most of the game modes were actually fun to play for more than an hour. They made many improvements but without any fun game modes to play, it gets old fast. I haven't even played the 2017 game at all for the past week or two.

But, with the 1.2 update comes the death of replacing hero models.
