Title: SWBF 1; Starting a Game
Post by: Dev1114 on April 29, 2015, 06:04:22 PM
Whenever I click start game on the SWBF 1 main screen for PC, I always get this error message:
Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\Battlefront.exe'. Make sure you type the name correctly, and then try again.
What does this mean and how can I fix it?

What version of windows are you using?

Have you used file explorer and gone to that location to make sure that battlefront.exe is there?

right click on windows start button and select Open Windows Explorer, select computer, your c drive, and into the various folders to check on battlefront.exe

Make sure it's in Program Files (x86) and not just Program Files, I've done that before too. If all else fails just reinstall it, and when the option comes up to choose a place for the files to go make sure you choose Program Files (x86).

OK, right click on the file (it must be battlefront.exe), then copy
then go to your desktop and right click and "paste shortcut"

Now double click on the shortcut you just made and see if it works.

Yeah I do and I just reinstalled it. It's working again, however, I think what broke it was when I tried to install GameMaster. I would like to get that working.

Honestly, i dont know how it can be hard to replace the swbf.exe
Replacing that file shouldnt affect anything else than itself

Majesty,
I would prefer that if you are helping someone with a solution you don't send them to their message box.  The tech support section is meant to be set up so that all people can help others and so that there is documentation for later.

Did you use the GameMaster Auto-installer or did you install it manually?  Also, I vaguely remember getting binkw32.dll errors once in while while trying to start Battlefront but I can't remember why... even though I remember it being in there.  I think it had something to do with the .exe being funky.

Yeah, I had that issue, and I manually installed. The first release of the patched exe didn't work right with the DVD version of the game. For me it was fixed with Anyder's fixed version of the .exe that he released shortly after. I also remember some people saying it was fixed, (For them anyways.) by moving the bink32.dll. (Not sure why.) Let me know if I need to clarify.
