We are setting up for running LAN games using 7 XBOX 360 consoles with hard drives on a wired network.

We are having success with most games certified for the 360 but have a unique problem with Star Wars Battlefront II for the original XBOX. The issue is with the controller. Every time a button is pressed the player will always move slightly forward and to the right. This happens on all machines and only when on a LAN game. The controller behaves as expected when playing a single player game. We have tested this with both wired and wireless controllers with the same result. Looking for suggestions.

I am hosting a SWBFII dedicated server featuring Marvel4's BF1 Conversion Pack 1.1 mod. The server is being tracked on GameTracker.

I have been hosting SWBFII dedicated servers for the PS2 version of the game for about 4 years. With a lot of the remaining PS2 players switching to the PC version I thought it would be interesting to host one or more PC servers. Wanting to do something different, I've played the SWBF 1 conversion pack previously and noticed that almost nobody hosts those missions, so I am giving it a try and am currently hosting a server strictly for the SWBF 1 Conversion Pack 2.2 mod.

After a lot of trial and error and with help from the people at Gametoast I was able to identify 161 mission that are stable on the dedicated server.

The server is a work in progress with the title "Conversion Pack 2.2" and has been running 24/7 for about 2 weeks at the time of this posting.

I have AI in the server, not that I prefer them, but it does give players something to shoot at until other real players join. It also provides a load to flush out some issues. I've adapted a mod I created for my PS2 servers that automatically regulates the number of AI players based on the number of real players in-game. the more players join, the fewer AI there are.

This happens in real time and does not require a mission to restart. Currently spawned AI players will not disappear when the number of real players increases, but will not be re-spawned once they die off. Until that time the number of AI players will be higher than shown. Additional AI players will spawn in the next spawn cycle once the number of real players drops accordingly.

I originally created this mod because the PS2 version tends to crash when total number of AI and real players nears 24.

Note: For some reason the mod doesn't work on Raxus Prime, which spawns countless AI regardless of the server setting.

There are a handful of people who joined, some returning, others not. The only feedback I've gotten so far is from the chat log files. There apparently was a lag issue but it resolved when one of the 3 players left.

There may be some connection issue or map mismatches or crashes on the client side in that I have seen players join and immediately leave several times in succession.

I'm tracking the server stats on GameTracker.com and maintaining a blog there as well.


I am looking for recommendations for map rotations. I am not familiar with the SWBF 1 maps or the custom maps. I am also not familiar with the KOR era or other new classes. Any feedback is welcome.

I am a modder of the PS2 version of the dedicated server. I am seeking information on how the fast spawn mod is done in hopes of applying it to the PS2 version vis HEX editing. This would have to be a "no download" type of mod.

Can anyone provide information on this mod?

I'm PyroJockey and I've been blowing stuff up in video games since 1978 (Space Invaders). My all-time favorite video game is the Descent series, originally released in 1995. Descent is where my gamertag is derived from and I still play it today.

I am of course a fan of the Star Wars franchise and was at the first showings of episodes IV, V, VI and I (yes, I'm that old). My sons got me involved with the PS2 version of the Battlefront series. I am a software engineer by trade and got involved with modding the dedicated server via HEX editing. I saw this as a challenge since the PS2 version was never intended to be modified (unlike the PC and XBox versions). I like to push it to the edge and see how far it can go.

I currently run 3 SWBFII servers with 2 other partners that run 24/7 in the 3 international regions, North America, Europe and Japan. While Sony didn't allow for cross region play, I did find ways around that and we occasionally host international events.

I also have the PC versions of the Battlefront series and am a fan of Valve games such as the Portal and Half Life series. I'm also on the lookout for any new 6DOF shooters such as Miner Wars, which is still in development but I have the pre-alpha version.

While glitching is allowed in our servers , we do not condone, advocate or encourage glitching in any non-glitching servers. The servers act as a sandbox for testing my mods and I let the kids play in them. I don't glitch in any other servers and I advise our members not to either.
