I think his health had been deteriorating for some time.
The words "gentle giant" have been used to describe Mr Mayhew by various friends and well-wishers today. A great description of the man: imposing because of his height and size, but as warm as a fuzzy teddy bear.
RIP and thank you for your contribution to the lives of millions of kids.
