I'll join the list if it helps any. I never got to do a through job on most of my maps though.

I'm on the verge of something and plan to release here, but if my permission is needed, by all means, go for it.
(Thats for tools, assets, maps, ect.. all things Battlefront.)

Thanks tirpider.

There is another modding group (to which many of us also belong) that wants to make sure we have permission to host files made by people  ;)

Thats cool.
Since it is all free work, the least we can do is respect permisions and credits.
(I wish some of my previous bosses felt that way.)

Ah, I see.
So it's isn't only about the modder's permissions and credits, but also about respecting the modder's and community's distribution permissions and protecting the integrity of the host sites.

It makes sense.

I have a relevant question about cross site hosting/posting of assets/tools/ect.

If I make a tool and release and maintain it here, and also release and maintain it on another BF community site (simultaniously to avoid version conflicts), would that bother the site ops?

I released on both sites hoping for a wider base of feedback to use for improvements. And both sites are listed in the readme and linked to each other in the release posts.

The last thing any modder would want is to alienate their community hosts or even the community itself.

-edit-
I'm recalling now that I don't in-fact have the file hosted on either site, but in my dropbox till it gets out of alpha.
But my question still stands.

I can only speak for SWBFgamers, but to me the more distribution the better.  I think the person that makes the mod/tools should put it up where ever they want.

I can understand, too, that GT wants to protect their contributions and client base.  The thing that is flakey though is that filefront (now gamefront) was going to go down about two years ago, and we all pitched in to archive files, but it hasn't been the same since.  Files have dissappeared and things get deleted.

I will go out on a limb here, but I would suggest that if you have a file that dissappeared from filefront and want to host here, please do so.

I also know that files that were developed here (actually one of the previous incarnations of this site) have found their way to filefront  ;)

I am trying to ask active modders on GT if they mind having their work mirrored here.  Some of them were also active here.

Right now I have an active PM send out to ty294 who has worked with gogo12.

In light of recent events (gamespy shutting down MP for one) I have decided to again give SWBFGamers blanket permission to host my mods/tools/assets. If I post a mod here through a mediafire link and someone wants to mirror it on this website's download sections, they have my permission in advance as long as it hasn't already been uploaded here.

This does not extend to private mods I share in PMs. Those are not meant to be posted publicly and are exclusive to only the intended recipients.

Also I want to mention that NOBODY is allowed to host or link to my mods on gametoast. That site has permanently lost the rights to host anything made by me, be it a mod, tutorial, assets, or anything else related to SWBF.

Do u mean the people who have uploaded mods made by themselves to this sire ?

I guess if any of my mods get deleted from this site you can reupload it. Add me to the list! :)

Oh and I realized that a lof of ggtucks great Main Play Mod assets weren't on this site. So I uploaded a bunch. I figured since he was on the list I didn't need his permisison. If I did something wrong then someone can delete all the things I uploaded last night. If not then can you approve them? :)

I've got a couple of projects i'd like to release soon. I would like to be on the list if possible. And can you approve my mod? If I did something wrong, I didn't know about it, so i'm sorry if I did.

Sure things, thanks.  I don't check the uploaded mods often, so feel free to PM me if it is not approved
