I was thinking, why not have a little upgrade for this site? A couple of my ideas are:
•a new logo ( so that when you see it you think "oh SWBF!" )
•a motto by the logo, something catchy!
•a minigame ( people were saying that MPC had something like that... )
•things like "featured mod" or "featured map" on the homepage. It could be an old one that not many people know about or a new one! It would include a picture or vid that people can see with a link to the download! ( I wouldn't mind editing the homepage for admin since I understand its quite difficult )
•that thing about custom titles like Jedi/sith/bounty hunter. That sounds like a lot of fun!!
•anything else! Post what you think would be fun/cool to see!
I would like this to happen to lighten the mood of recent events. I would actually like to help on this "project" a lot! It would give me something to do since I'm on off season for water polo. :)
So yea, who thinks that this could be fun or is a good idea?
Costs money.
It is not so much that it costs money, but it costs time.
And if we have things on the front (called the Simple Portal) and if is it not updated, then I think it looks bad for us.
Anyone is welcome to design a new header for the website. There are very particular requirements for it though.
I am takeing a basic Game design class in school I could try to make a Pong game.
Now that the topic is up.... I always wonder about the header we have now. Is there a particular reason for the 121-18 score? or just a random number?
Why not make a contest for a new header? All we need is the size of the banner.
Maybe we can link the completely header to the index site.
I think its 1000x300 no ?

I had a site banner made, but Led said there were some complications on adding the image to the banner slot.

Alright here
1. A new logo/banner --- Costs nothing
2. A motto with the logo --- Costs nothing
3. Minigame --- Costs money (i think)
4. Featured map or something like it will take a lot of time --- Costs nothing
5. Costum titles (i think its merely changing the costum title to everybody's rank...at the thing can start) --- Costs nothing (i think)
6. Anything else --- Might costs money, i dont know what it is
Now all you have to do is drop the minigame....and it costs nothing O_O.....now what do we say......OMG you did it darth!

What you could do is make a post in which you can edit your information. I could put a link on the front page to your post. The link would not change, thus saving me time.
You would change your information as you see fit.

I can do that for absolutely free (using my pro edition of GM8.1 and all of its awesomeness)
Right now, I can only export my games to *.EXE format, so if someone could port it (I have no idea how that is done, so don't eat me) that would help XD...
Questions would be: What deadline, what type of game, and 3D or 2D?
And believe me, I'd love to create a game based for the community here, so don't hesitate to ask. (try not to go to elaborate though,

There are games that go with the website software. It is not something you can develop and I would be able to use. Look up "SMF forum games" or something and see what the options are. Even then, these things could break our forum.
A gallery to host images/screenshots/avatars, ect?
It would solve a few dead images in some of the threads if they were hosted on-site.
But could also bring content and hot linking issues or be a bandwidth killer and moderation nightmare.

My suggestion is that we have things recognizable from the game with NO mods. I like the aubresh though! I think a Star Wars feel plus a SWBF feel. Like we know right when we see it that "Oh! This is a SWBF1 site!" ;)

I might have something like that. I just got a question: how do you upload photos straight from your PC like that? I always use imgur. Anyways, I have the banner remade, just need to find somehow I can upload it.

I attached it using the full reply mode. Underneath the text box are the words "Attachments and other options". Clicking on that will lead you to what you need to upload directly to the forum.

Glad you guys like it. My only problem is that I can't seem to get the Star Wars logo into a .PNG format. For some reason I cannot do this image as a .PNG unless there's some sort of mask on it. Even when I uploaded the image (and it was .PNG), it gave what was masked a white background! I guess I will need to find some way of converting it to a .PNG format.
Well I don't know about the PC but on a Mac all you need to do is change the name of the picture file from, for example "battlefrontLogo.jpeg" to "battlefrontlogo.png" and it will change the format or whatever of the picture. But that's for a Mac. There might be something like that for the PC...
Sorry for the consistent replies here, I think I finally managed to get it to a .PNG format via some image converter website.
Edit: apparently my iPad hates the .PNG format... Perhaps I will need to do this through a computer...

GM I have alot of image/texturing tools, I can convert to.. ALOT of different formats, so if you ever need help, gimme` a shout ;)
Or download XNView Gold Man and convert to basically any known format. http://www.xnview.com/ (http://www.xnview.com/) If it can't open it the odds are nothing can.

These banners take the whole width, which looks better I guess. There just need some lines to be modified via CSS or maybe HTML. But this normally ain't no problem at all.
