NFO server renewed

I have renewed our SWBFgamers.com / PLA NFO server that hosts our dedicated servers via Tunngle for the another six months.  The next renewal will be in December 2013.

We are maintaining about 180-220 GB of traffic each month since Gamespy shut down (500-600 GB before the shutdown).  If we maintain around the 200 GB level I will probably renew the NFO server.  If we drop below 100 GB per month, I would probably host from home again.

NFO is better, of course, but mine have always been very good.   I have to balance the $260/year cost versus the amount of people that still play.  Another option would be to ask for donations here  ;)

Well thats not so much compared to uef root -- 900€ what might be 1350 $ i think
If u didnt know all Enten clan members have to pay/donate for the root so ur idea isnt so bad :P

Thanks for putting so much money into the remnant of the SWBF Community, Led! I'll try to get on Tunngle when I can.

I didn't know server hosting was so expensive! Led, you have the right to be a dictator of the SWBFI community for all the things you do! :P

I'm pretty sure the things Led keeps up is international. Besides, what site/servers do you go on more, TWA/Ententeich or PLA NFO/SWBFGamers...

And SK doesn't live anywhere near the U.S. so it is more than just Americans.

Even though I can't play right now, I am still thankful that you renewed it. Because we WILL find a way to create a new master server by editing the .exe or something like that.  :whip:

Just to make sure everyone knows--many PLA have contributed over the years, and their contributions have been recognized on the PLA (private) forums.  Without them, I would have not kept up with the Chicago server for so long.

The price that NFO charges has also reduced by about half since we started up our server in 2009, and that has been a big help too.

Bandit also has his own NFO server in Atlanta that he uses for work purposes that we get to use to host SWBF, too.  He has been very impressed with the NFO pricing and even if Chicago goes away, I would expect that we would have Atlanta for some time to come.

In general terms, there are plenty of people to be thankful for--the modders for giving us some new ways to play and appreciate the game, the players for being the competition, and other server hosts in the US, Europe, and elsewhere for giving us all the server options throughout the years.
