Question, if I asked for anyone's IP address, would a mod be allowed to give it to me? According to Phobos a few years ago, a moderator confirmed my IP address to him. I'm not sure why I believed him then, but more than likely he handed over evidence that supported that conclusion. I'm not going to reveal any names, I just want to know if one of my grievances had any substance to it. .
The website staff? There (unsurprisingly) isn't actually have a specific policy about it. But did anyone do it? Probably not, the moderators Led picks for the site all tend to be quite nice and reasoned people. I mean I can't say for certain that no one ever has, the IP used to make a post is displayed beneath it so it's not something we can audit. I do find it very unlikely that anyone would've though; people do make mistakes though so it isn't impossible.

But the website used to have a lot of board moderators (Who as I'm sure you can guess by the name got some moderator permissions on their board but weren't actually forum moderators/staff.) for it's private or specific mod boards. I actually can't remember if board moderators get to see IP addresses of posts, I think they might have been able to though. If so it's possible that if you had posted on one of the private or dedicated boards moderated by an individual as opposed to the site's staff that they could've leaked your IP address.

Also I think this may explain why you remember seeing Phobos listed under Forum Staff on the front page. Board moderators used to be mistakenly listed under Forum Staff and I think Phobos once was a board moderator. (Possibly for the FC clan board or his TWD mod board, Led may remember better.) It's possible you saw his name listed there back when it shouldn't have been.

I've updated this to now also install the stock English "shell.lvl", so you can actually open the MP games list. It should go without saying but this will only work for the English version of the game. (Which I believe all GoG and Steam regrettably offer at this stage.)

Here it is. https://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=13356

I Hope it works well and proves useful. It tries to look in a bunch of places to find the SWBF1 install. (It uses Windows Search API, checks the registry and pokes around all your Steam libraries if it can find them,)

SWBFSpy Installer (SWBF1)

https://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=1486

A simple tool to assist in installing SWBFSpy, it'll do it's best to locate your SWBF install for you (regardless of if you have disk, Steam or GoG), backup the original executable you have (renaming it to "battlefront.exe.backup") and copy in the SWBFSpy executable.

To use it simply extract and run "SWBFSpy Install.exe".

I have barely tested it and it's been adapted from my Shader Patch installer but it should get the job done. The sourcecode is included as well for those curious, feel free to adapt or make improvements to it.

I don't think I ever actually saved the source code for it. What did it do exactly again? (I know that I should know but it's been a while.) Just rename the old executable and copy in the new one? If so, it'd be a pretty simple thing to remake I can probably find the time to whip up one tomorrow if that'd be helpful.

Although I'd have to guess on the exact install layout for Steam, I assume it'd just be "steamapps\common\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\"?

I would find it hard to believe that is not Sleepkillers...
Na, looks like they're talking about DICE's SWBFII. Mine is only for the original. Side note: I really dislike the fact they hijacked the names of the original games, it's so disrespectful and creates confusion like this.

SWBFII on GOG does the same thing. It doesn't matter if he's running it alone or not for either one. I recall finding a fix by editing something in his graphics settings for his computer but I can't remember what I did now. He must have updated his graphics or something...

Edit: This is what is on the GOG page for SWBFII and I recall this being the issue with SWBFII.

"AMD compatibility notice: Star Wars: Battlefront II does not support AMD Crimson Edition drivers 15.12 or newer, and requires version 15.11 (stable version) or older drivers." https://www.gog.com/game/star_wars_battlefront_ii

The question is, do you think that is what needs to be done to fix SWBFI? And does anyone remember how to downgrade the driver or whatever? I don't remember what I did initially.
Could be, I was hoping you'd report back the results of the Task Manager experiment so we'd have more information to go on. If you haven't done it yet then I'd really suggest trying it, it could help narrow down the possible causes very quickly.

If both audio and video is lagging then I'd say that points to something hogging the CPU. Finding out what is doing that is the first step in solving the problem. A simple way to try to work it out is to open up Task Manager and overlay it on top of the game.

So first open up Task Manager. The quickest way to do this is probably to hit start, type in Task Manager and hit enter. Then under "Options" in Task Manager make sure "Always On Top" is enabled. This will keep it open and displayed in game unless you explicitly minimize it.

Then click out of Task Manager (with minimizing it!) and fire up the game, load a map and note what applications are using what resources. SWBF should probably be using around 10% (or less) of that particular CPU while running, and possibly less of the GPU. If another application is spiking in CPU usage (or Disk/GPU) then you may have found your culprit.

Probably nothing, the tool just doesn't seem to behave well on everyone's machine. I really need to make a new version of it, I just haven't had time to yet.

I assume you mean how do you get rid of the black bars when playing with 2 or 3 players? The answer regrettably is you don't, the game doesn't support the aspect ratios needed to remove them.

Straight away or does it go through the loading bar a bit? Can you post or PM me the .wld file?

Cool, just double checking! I don't have time to chase it down myself right now but I'd suggest starting by trying a process of elimination if you haven't already. Change the extension on all the world files (.pth, .lyr, etc) to have '.ignore' on the end, except the .wld file itself.

Then try loading the world, if it loads remove '.ignore' from one of the other world files and try again. Repeat until you get a crash.

If you get a crash on the first one it means there is either something wrong with an .odf, .msh or the .wld file itself.

If you do some testing be sure to let me know what it turns up.

This is with v1.1.1 yeah? It did fix a bug that caused extracted .bnd and .prp files to crash Zero Editor on load.

Unless you fancy editing Lua bytecode you'll have to outright replace the script, but yes should be doable. Though it may just be easier to completely recreate the mission.lvl from scratch.

Could this be hypothetically done to add spaces to .lvl files ? Like to add files to be loaded by levels.
swbf-unmunge has a special mode for editing munged files and reassembling them back up.https://github.com/SleepKiller/swbf-unmunge/wiki/Explode-and-Assemble
