Likewise, I vaguely remember you as well, though off the top of my head I couldn't name any others from IGC - good to see you around! Knowing me, I'll probably remember this forum in another few  years and sign back on then.

I'm on PS4 as well. Spend all day in front of my computers for work so when it comes time to game I need a change of scenery.

PSN is below my avatar.

It would be nice if the devs could find a way to connect all the platforms together multi-player wise, like Destiny does with XBox Live and the PS4..

The multiplayer for Destiny is still old school. The only way you can play with others is if they are on your same network  (Xbox Live or PSN), and are on the same console Generation.

As for my choice, I'll most likely be playing on PS4 as that's where most of my friends game, and I spend far too much time in front of the computer for work and won't be doing that for my free-time as well.

Super pumped! It's been far too long since I've had any Battlefront in my life.

Unfortunately, at this point, I'll be playing on PS4, so I'm not sure how many of you I will run into.

Thanks for all the info! Figured of anyone out there, I could count on everyone here!

Hey everyone, posting here on behalf of a friend who is trying to relive part of her childhood.

Purchased a copy of Star Wars: Episode I on PC (as seen in this amazon post): http://amzn.to/17RJom4

She has tried to install it on her Windows 8 machine and on her Mac (OS X 10.10.2) using virtualization, but when she tries to install the game, it returns the following error: "the %s setup program was unable to launch. You can install %s by running SETUP.exe directly from the %s CD-ROM disc." Attempting to run SETUP.exe from the CD-ROM doesn't work either.

Any thoughts, or is she out of luck?

Thanks!

Both of those points make sense. For me, I'm excited to have something MMO-like since the Mac never got a version of SW:TOR, and I spend 40-60 hours a week in front of my work computer in my home office, so when the day is over, I leave the office and try to avoid spending any addition time there.

I know we all love to hate on consoles, but is anyone getting as excited/pumped up for Destiny as I am?

Would love to hear other's thoughts on it as we move closer to the launch date in a few weeks.

I completely understand that coming from a PC gamer. Unfortunately, as my job has shifted to being a work from home sales position, I spend 10-12 hours a day on my PC and thus have no desire to game on it.

That said, I happen to disagree with the argument about the exclusives. Many of the PS3 exclusives were phenomenal, and some of those announced coming out this year for the PS4 look to be just as good. The same can be said of many of the exclusives coming for the Xbox One.

While I agree with the gimmicky nature of some new features (the Kinect and Playstation voice commands), both of those are features that will become just as useful as the gamepad over time (if I recall, the gamepad seemed awful gimmicky when the Wii U was released as well).

I completely understand! I pre-ordered a PS4 through Target (only place that still had them available at Labor Day).

I have mixed feelings regarding it right now as there are just too many little issues that spoil some of the great features, or every day use of the console.

That said, the future looks bright for the games! I can't wait for WatchDogs and having about 90% completion in AC:IV, I'm excited at the possibility for some crossover since it looks like they exist in the same universe.

Now I want to get one but don't see the point until any good games come out. If Watch Dogs wasn't delayed I would have a PS4. :) It would be nice to see what new games people recommend.

I completely understand that sentiment. One of my good gaming buddies and I are really stuck playing Killzone: Shadow Fall all the time because of all the issues that Battlefield 4 has, and there aren't any other games that aren't sports and racing out yet. Though, I'm really excited for the PS4 release of last year's Tomb Raider. I played it on PS3 and loved it and am more than willing to buy it again to play it (with all the DLC) on the new console later this month.

Just curious if anyone was an early adopter of a next generation console.

If so, I would love to game or talk about the merits (or flaws) that you have experienced with the systems.

And for the love of god, please don't troll.  ;)

Quick update. I was hoping to get in on the game tomorrow, but Amazon shipped me a PC copy of Battlefront II. So because of girlfriends, work, and travel, it probably wont' happen until October. I'll let you know.

I thought, why not limit how many respawn a player can have in a match? I think it would be great for there to be host changeable respawn limits in the servers.

Interesting that you mention that. It looks like similar features to that just got announced for Killzone: Shadowfall. It's the first time I've heard of/seen a feature with that level of customization in match creation for multiplayer. There is definitely a possibility of it in Battlefront.

Off the top of my head, three things come to mind:

  • No player controlled Jedi/Sith. We all love them, and it's a blast to run around hacking the enemy to bits, but it honestly ruined the flow and idea of a game where you have two giant armies fighting against each other. Besides, if we look at things from a sheer numbers point of view, having Jedi/Sith in EVERY battle is just not possible. They are a limited resource.
  • Modifiable classes. The idea that soldiers don't have preferences to what they use/fight with is absurd. Not to mention, it helps draw the player into the game a little more.
  • 1st and 3rd person views. I for one always like the ability to quickly change which POV I was playing from. In the original games, certain classes were better suited for different views and it was nice to be able to change that up with a quick keystroke.
